Chapter 27: Affinity

Extraordinary charm! Soren stared blankly at the little girl in front of him, somewhat incredulously saying, “Could Vivian be a natural Sorcerer?”
Sorcerer.
The high and handsome profession among spellcasters!
They do not need to learn any knowledge; over time, they automatically master related spell abilities, do not require any spell slots, and do not need to rely on the Magic Network to cast spells, because their ability to cast spells is their innate talent. It is as simple as eating and drinking water. If one possesses the potential to become a Sorcerer, they will automatically comprehend various spells when the time comes, without needing to understand the structure of spells, relying entirely on instinct to cast all sorts of spells.
Wizards, Priests, Sorcerers.
These are the three representative professions among spellcasters.
The attribute that dominates a Wizard’s spellcasting ability is intelligence, the attribute that affects a Priest’s divine techniques is wisdom, and the attribute that determines a Sorcerer’s understanding ability is charisma.
These three attributes are actually difficult to describe with just a few words.
So.
Let me think it through, organize my thoughts, and then explain it to you in a simpler metaphor.
First is intelligence.
It represents memory ability and comprehension ability. Casting spells requires remembering complex models, which are somewhat similar to modern circuit boards, containing many semiconductors and circuit structures. Therefore, to successfully cast spells, one needs a memory and comprehension ability as powerful as a calculator. To put it in modern terms, Wizards need to train their brains to become the most basic biological computers that can calculate a large number of spell models in an instant. This requires development of the right brain!
As a result, most Wizards have remarkable memory and comprehension abilities, like the top-tier scholars who can mentally deduce the structure of an atomic bomb.
In fact.
Such people may not necessarily be strong in dealing with human affairs and other aspects!
This is the intelligence that decides a Wizard’s power.
Next is wisdom.
This is easier to understand; it represents a person’s willpower, judgment, perception, and intuition. Generally, those with strong wisdom possess latent sixth senses, able to foresee things in intuition. They are very perceptive of their surroundings, capable of noticing many subtle changes, and can perceive some hidden entities and powers.
This is why Soren tested Vivian’s ‘sixth sense’!
Finally, there is charisma.
This is the hardest to explain; it can be understood as three parts: appearance, personal charm, and affinity.
Here, we need to pause.
Because it cannot be clearly explained in just a few words, I need to organize my statements a bit.
First is appearance. Most people with extraordinary looks possess decent charisma, as most intelligent beings pursue beautiful appearances, which means the lineup of the appearance association is still very strong. Next is personal charm, which is the inner charm of a person. Many who do not look particularly handsome or beautiful often have strong personal charm, with representative figures being those at the head of state level. The following text describes the realistic effect of personal charm:
“On February 26, 1815, Napoleon returned to France from Elba, and the Bourbon monarchy sent out troops. Napoleon went up alone, waved his hand, and said, ‘I have returned…’ and then these soldiers said ‘Welcome, Your Majesty!’ … And just like that, they switched sides!”
Finally, there is affinity.
This is the most important branch of the charisma attribute. Those with high charisma often possess strong affinity; if there is no subjective rejection, they can easily invoke goodwill in others. This affinity varies in many aspects, depending on the characteristics of the individual, such as affinity for people, for animals, and most importantly, for elemental energy.
Even for the laws of the entire universe!
So.
Spellcasters can likely be described using these three metaphors, where the objective is unified as the elemental energy of the transmutation system.
First, Wizards rely on intelligence to seek elemental energy, using complex calculations to analyze it, understanding the nature of elemental energy—when it is active, when it is inert, what changes occur after different elemental energies collide, what changes occur when identical elemental energies combine, what spell circuits are needed to control them, and how many spell nodes must be set up to generate powerful bursts!
This is the core of how Wizards cast spells using intelligence.
Next are Priests, who rely on wisdom to discover elemental energy, then influence it with the divine power of faith, lastly using the abilities of the gods, nature, and laws to manipulate them to complete spellcasting. Thus, Priests give their faith to the gods, Druids give their faith to nature, and certain special professionals give their faith to the laws of the world.
Finally, there are Sorcerers.
This is quite simple.
They do not need to do anything, just wait for elemental energy to gather around them, and then awaken their spellcasting ability.
If we say that Wizards grasp elemental energy to control it, then Priests discover elemental energy to influence it, while Sorcerers wait for elemental energy to actively approach them.
This is why it is said, “Sorcerers are the high and handsome ones among spellcasters!”
However, relying solely on talent clearly does not lead to the highest achievements; therefore, the number of spells mastered by Sorcerers is far fewer than that of Wizards. At the same time, the speed at which they learn new spells is very slow, because most Sorcerers have relatively low intelligence attributes. Their memory and comprehension abilities are average. While a Wizard can master and understand a low-level spell in three to five months, a Sorcerer might need three to fifty years to master one.
A representative example of this is Goblin Sorcerers whose innate charm is above 16 points, but intelligence is only around 10 points, meaning they will only be able to cast the spells they learned when leveling up as Sorcerers throughout their lives. Only those Sorcerers with intelligence above 18 points, possessing the potential to become Wizards, can expand their number of spells through study.
If the Goddess of Magic were to fall, the requirement would increase to 20 points of intelligence!
Without enough intelligence.
It’s better to rely on talent to cast spells.
Because no matter how much you learn, you will not remember those complex circuits and spell nodes, and you will never be able to subjectively construct new spell models.
The higher the level of the spells, the more so!
……………………
Is she really a Sorcerer?
The more Soren thought, the more it seemed possible, because the little girl appeared to have a natural affinity and was quite cute.
Her charisma would definitely not be below 16 points!
So if Vivian really is a natural Sorcerer, then she would not need to understand what spells are; she could just follow her instincts and use her talent to cast them!
This is why the event of her seeing a Priest casting a spell and then learning the “Light Spell” happened.
Because level 0 spells are universal.
Soren closed his eyes and thought for a moment, then said seriously, “Vivian.”
“Repeat after me!”
“ua…is…gf…”
Relying on her strong memory, Vivian uttered some strange semi-syllables. It would be difficult for a normal person to produce these semi-syllables, but she managed to do it successfully.
Of course.
Nothing happened.
However, when Vivian followed Soren and recited those strange semi-syllables, a faint electric arc suddenly appeared in her palm, and Soren’s body suddenly froze, followed by the hairs on his entire body standing on end!
——“Lightning Shock!”
Soren’s hair stood on end. He quickly stopped Vivian in front of him and said in a deep voice, “Let go of your feelings!”
“Try to control the energy you feel with your mind!”
“You don’t need to understand it.”
“Just learn to make it listen to you!”
Crackling sounds.
Vivian nodded, seemingly understanding, and seriously tried once, and then a faint electric arc reappeared in her palm. After jumping several times, it gradually disappeared.
“Success!”
A hint of joy appeared on Soren’s face. He happily picked up the little girl and kissed her, saying, “Vivian is indeed a Sorcerer!”
“She will definitely be a wealthy and beautiful spellcaster in the future!”
The little girl did not understand Soren’s words at all, but that did not prevent her from showing a happy smile.
Because she finally had the ability to help her brother.
……………………
Sorcerer.
With the awakening of innate abilities, casting level 0 spells requires only a key, which is the spell’s incantation.
In the future, they will automatically comprehend and master higher-level spells as their profession level increases!
Depending on the aspects their affinity leans towards, Sorcerers will spontaneously comprehend related spells and automatically master the incantations without needing to analyze the structural models of those spells.
Because their ability to cast spells is inherently a talent!
Finally.
The brains of living beings have genetic memory and genetic talent. This ability was once believed by many players to be the source of the power of Sorcerers. With extraordinary affinity, the energies of nature will also awaken their genetic memories, automatically awakening related spell memories as their abilities increase.
Therefore.
Many people believe that Sorcerers are descendants of some powerful beings from the mythological era!
A representative example being the Dragonblood Sorcerers.
