Chapter 64: Step by Step (Part 2)

Author: Floating Tower (诸生浮屠)
The houses in this world are rather simple and crude.
For those familiar with European history or who have tried games set in other time periods, it’s easy to notice that their houses are quite rough and simple, with some wood used for construction that hasn’t even had its bark stripped clean, unlike the more meticulous designs in the Central Plains during the same period. However, this is advantageous as building houses can be done very quickly; skilled craftsmen could erect a cluster of houses in no time if they have enough hands. In the future, once Soren manages to produce red bricks, these temporary wooden houses can be retired.
As for another very important aspect, which is cement, it’s actually not that crucial.
Thousands of years ago on Earth, there were construction methods such as “digging channels and filling them with burnt earth, using wooden frames to support mud walls.” Even without cement, clay, gypsum, lime, and other materials can be used as binders, but houses built this way are not as strong as those with reinforced concrete, nor can they be built too high. Most of the houses in this world are single-story buildings, and if a second floor is planned, it would typically be an attic built with a wooden and brick structure.
Soren had considered many aspects in his plans.
……..
A day quickly passed.
Soren sent half of his crew out mainly to continue transporting supplies. Although the six ships were enough for over three months of food and necessities for the three of them, it wasn’t enough to establish a town. Before the infrastructure in this area was self-sufficient, everything relied on Taro Port as a transit hub. Most of the other pirates thought Soren intended to establish a base on the Overseas Islands, but they never imagined that his ambitions were greater than everyone thought.
Pirate Kings generally have strongholds overseas, like the Swamp King’s Demon Island or the Naga Pirate King’s Fury Scale Island.
In fact!
Most people believed Soren was planning to set up his stronghold on the Overseas Islands and control a large group of pirates to dominate that trade route, allowing him to profit from it in the future.
The next morning.
After delineating a simple camp area, Soren also began participating in the labor process.
Although he knew there were many things for him to explore here, he restrained himself and focused his main energy on constructing the camp. As long as the camp was completed, this area would be his territory. Even if they encountered an attack, they could defend it, and he could gradually explore the surrounding regions. However, if the camp was not established, an attack by indigenous people could lead to considerable trouble. While the pirates might suffer minimal casualties, the slaves would undoubtedly pay the price.
Resources, population, land.
Soren silently stood up and glanced at Vivian, who was inside the tent, flipping through a book with her little head tilted to the side, holding a goose feather pen with her pale little hand, doodling on white paper. A smile involuntarily appeared at the corner of his mouth. Vivian’s gifted profession is Sorcerer, which requires little study, as spellcasting relies entirely on innate abilities. However, Vivian is also working part-time as a Wizard. What she is currently doing is learning spell knowledge to master spellcasting techniques in the manner of a Wizard.
He took a glance and then left.
The little girl seemed more obedient than before, as if she understood he had an important plan, often quietly engrossed in her own activities.
Soren soon led a team toward the woods.
Yesterday, they had cut down quite a few trees, but it was only enough to set up tents. Today, more wood was needed, preferably enough to finish part of the surrounding fence.
For this reason, Soren had to take action himself!
—”Might Spell!”
Soren looked at the rows of trees before him and cast a strength-enhancing spell on himself. He then approached a tree trunk as thick as a thigh. Taking a deep breath, he swung a Legendary Curved Blade, Icebane, which flashed with a cold light, and then he struck the base of the large tree, severing it with a loud crack. With groaning sounds, the tree fell down. Soren didn’t even look back. The pirates behind him quickly gathered with knives and axes, busy chopping off the branches with a flurry of sounds.
Soon!
A processed log appeared at the site, and two burly pirates came over to carry it away, one on each side.
At this time.
Soren had already cut down three large trees ahead, and dozens of pirates were scattered around, chopping away with swords and axes, piling the cut branches to one side for burning later, while others transported the three logs back. The camp was in the midst of building houses, and arranging the surrounding fence; this amount of wood was simply not enough.
Soren swung his axe quickly!
He maintained a speed of cutting down three trees per minute, resting for just a few seconds after each tree before moving on to the next. Behind him, a large group of pirates, now at least sixty or seventy people, were busy handling the fallen trees, but there were still more than twenty trees that hadn’t been processed in time. The pirates responsible for carrying the wood back were all visibly exhausted, dripping with sweat.
Soren’s breathing remained steady, showcasing his extraordinary physique!
He cut down fifty trees before stopping to catch his breath, relaxing his arms and stretching out the muscles that had become sore from the continuous exertion. The other pirates were all busy, quickly preparing the other felled wood and taking it back to the camp to build the fence. Soren paused not because he couldn’t continue but merely because the duration of the “Might Spell” had ended. Logging requires strength support, and without a spell enhancement, his efficiency would drop significantly.
However, Soren had memorized a vast array of spells in advance.
He not only memorized the “Might Spell” in all of his Second Circle Spell Slots but also recorded its spell amplification version in the Third Circle!
What he had just used was merely the ordinary version of “Might Spell.”
If he were to cast the amplified Third Circle “Might Spell,” the effects and duration would improve by about 50%.
This is the value of spell amplification.
The efficiency with which Soren worked was astonishing; in just one or two hours, he had cut down hundreds of trees, followed by a large group of pirates busy handling the wood and transporting it back. Now, part of the fence in the entire camp had been completed, and the slaves, under the pirate leader’s guidance, were driving the logs into the ground; it was estimated that in a day or two, a solid wooden fence would be completed.
This was just the beginning!
What Soren was about to establish here was not just a fence. (To be continued ~^~)
