Chapter Sixty-Eight: Limited Wish Spell
Evening.
Soren had changed into a fitted outfit, cutting his hair, which was nearly shoulder-length, to about earlobe length with a curved blade. At this moment, his appearance was somewhat different from before; he had no extraneous items on him, his wrists and legs wrapped in cloth strips, and he wasn’t wearing any armor, not even lighter leather armor. The most noticeable item was the Battle Master gloves on his hands, which contained most of his equipment and weapons.
Next to Soren was Vivian, pouting with a displeased expression and mumbling, “I want to go too!”
“Brother, why won’t you let me go with you? If we go together, we might be able to take out that group of indigenous people directly. I’m worried if you go alone; there are so many of them. What if you get discovered?”
Upon hearing this, Soren crouched down, gently stroking Vivian’s small head, and said softly, “If I leave and take you with me, then there will be no one watching over the camp. If anything happens, the pirates could easily collapse. I feel much more at ease with you staying here. Besides, there’s not much danger in me going alone. Almost no one in this area can stop me from coming and going as I please.”
As he spoke, a hint of confidence appeared on Soren’s face.
He had passed through countless dangerous areas, facing many monsters that could see through invisibility and block planes in the Abyss Hell—yet he had managed to go back and forth safely. Although his current strength was not as formidable as it once was, there were no true deities in these Overseas Islands; at most, there were some legends approaching demigod level. Throughout the thousands of years of the Overseas Islands’ history, there had been no reports of any deity with weak divine power; perhaps it was because the Lord of Storms kept a tight grip, eliminating any potential threats as soon as they arose.
“Okay.”
Vivian nodded gently, but her adorable little face still showed signs of unhappiness. She looked at Soren seriously and said, “It’s fine if you go alone, but you have to let me leave a spell mark on you. This way, if you’re in danger, I can find a way to use a portal to help you.”
A spell mark?
Without thinking twice, Soren nodded lightly, “Alright.”
Vivian clapped her small, fair hands and stood up, her big eyes spinning around. Not knowing what mischief she was concocting, as soon as Soren agreed, she immediately began casting a spell rapidly.
Something’s off!
From the moment Vivian began her casting, Soren felt that something was wrong.
A spell mark was a simple low-tier arcane spell, and with Vivian’s power as a Legendary Sorcerer, along with her powerful specialty talent, it should not take this long to cast. Although Soren’s skill level in spell identification was insufficient to determine the specifics of what the little girl was casting, he could tell it was a very high-difficulty spell, likely a high-tier spell of six rings or above. He wanted to interrupt her casting, but he was afraid that this might harm her.
“Vivian!… What are you?!…”
With no choice, Soren could only watch helplessly. When Vivian finished the last part of her incantation, he finally understood what spell she had cast.
A terrible pressure enveloped the area!
This pressure was stronger than the dragon pressure emanating from an adult dragon, yet it didn’t have such an oppressive aura. As a spell light appeared, a portal opened before the two of them. Inside the portal was a creature filled with immense power and divine radiance, who first swept a glance over Soren and then focused its gaze on little Vivian. The creature, brimming with divine power and divinity, looked at the tiny girl in front of it and couldn’t help but frown slightly, speaking in a deep voice, “Spellcaster!… Is it you who summoned me?… You seem to be just a little girl, whether in body or soul!…”
“Are you sure you want to make a deal with me?!…”
A Wind Giant!?
When Soren saw the creature before him, he immediately guessed what spell Vivian had just cast.
—“Limited Wish Spell! [Seven-ring Spell]”
The Wind Giant looked somewhat like the monster from Aladdin’s magic lamp. Its upper body maintained a humanoid form, skin a light cyan color, with its pupils flashing with intermittent sparks of electricity, radiating divine light. Any giant summoned by the Wish Spell was at the level of deities. Although it was impossible to judge the specific power level of this one, it was certainly a Wind Giant above demigod status. Elemental plane giants have special rules; they adhere to contracts and laws, trading with spellcasters when needed.
This was a Wind Giant above demigod status!
What appeared now was its avatar, not the true body of the Wind Giant; only very special transactions could summon the true form of a Wind Giant.
It’s even possible to summon the oldest elemental giants!
(Knowledge [War]: Wind element creatures once defeated Abyss demons, led by these Wind Giants.)
………………
Vivian looked up at Soren and earnestly began speaking rapidly to the Wind Giant, “#……¥*#¥##%#%#¥%……#¥%#¥%¥**#%#%#!…”
As soon as the little girl started speaking,
Soren was immediately dumbfounded, as she was speaking in the language of demons.
He had never felt so strongly about the importance of learning a foreign language, especially with the prevalence of demon language across many planes.
Wind Giants are neutral beings.
The four elemental planes generally do not involve themselves in the conflicts of upper and lower planes, unless someone is foolish enough to try to unify the universe and turn the entire multiverse into one shape; otherwise, the four elemental planes usually don’t take action. Therefore, the Wind Giant could also trade with demons, as any spellcaster who casts the Wish Spell can transact with them.
Thus, the Wind Giant spoke in a demon language that Soren could not understand, “##%#%¥#%……&*##&*%#&*……#¥&*¥#¥……”
This is critical!
Soren wanted to interrupt Vivian and have her communicate in the common tongue, but he was afraid that doing so would anger the Wind Giant.
These Wind Giants were not exactly easy to deal with.
But before Soren could speak, the Wind Giant seemed to have reached some consensus with Vivian, and it conjured a scroll of parchment from thin air, picking up a quill to begin writing rapidly, quickly filling a contract scroll. It crouched down to show the scroll to little Vivian, who studied it for a moment and then pointed out a detail, beginning to argue heatedly with the Wind Giant. Although there was a huge power difference between the two, the Wind Giant showed no sign of anger at the little girl’s unapologetic tone of debate.
Their contracts were filled with various traps, and anyone negotiating a deal with them had to bargain!
Time didn’t pass too long.
Soon, a look of amazement appeared on the Wind Giant’s face, and it said seriously, “Very well. According to the contract, I will take a portion of your divine power, and in return, grant you some other abilities.”
“Little girl!”
“If it’s fine, just sign the contract.”
Vivian was quick to act; she picked up the quill and signed her name, and the Wind Giant showed a satisfied smile. It raised a hand and pointed at Vivian, causing a special contractual power to surge forth, drawing away a part of her divine power. Then it extended its finger, pointing at both Vivian and Soren, with a divine light shimmering in its eyes.
In an instant!
It felt as if Soren had been electrocuted; he involuntarily shivered.
Then, he felt Vivian next to him, not through his eyes but through his mind, a strange sensation that allowed him to determine her location, how far she was from him. As long as he concentrated, he could lock onto the little girl’s precise direction.
It was as if a powerful telepathic connection had formed!
