Chapter 75: Everyone has Their Own Thoughts! (First Update)
The sky gradually darkened.
As Andrei Darkblade walked out of the hall, his expression was not pleasant. The Drow Warrior he brought with him had already been settled in another accommodation. By the time he returned, there were already people waiting for him. These Drow did not seem to completely trust Soren either; after settling down, they remained fully armed, quietly awaiting their leader’s return. Drow are suspicious creatures, and it’s difficult for them to trust others in a short period.
“How is it?”
A younger Drow Warrior stood up and asked, “My Lord Darkblade! What did that honorable one say?”
Andrei Darkblade glanced at the others and noticed their eagerness to know what the honorable one had requested. He could only sigh helplessly and say, “He hopes we can serve him, fight for him, and as long as we can do that, our tribe can receive continuous supplies. He even promised to allow us to migrate here to live.”
This statement silenced many.
At first glance, it seemed like a good offer, but upon closer thought, there were suspicions of being annexed. The Drow likely did not wish to be controlled by a human; mutual cooperation was already the extent of what they could accept. Unless Soren’s power was so formidable that they could not resist or refuse, so powerful that he could easily erase their existence. Before coming here, the female priests had made their decision; in fact, that group of women still felt some disgust and distrust towards humans; otherwise, the one leading the group would not have been a male Drow.
It is known that in Drow society, males are naturally of a lower status than females!
“My Lord Darkblade!” A young Drow Warrior hesitated for a moment and slowly said, “Didn’t we expect things to turn out this way before we came? After all, there’s no such thing as free food; he will definitely require something from us! If it’s just fighting for him, that’s actually not too much for us, considering we have dealt with indigenous people before.”
What is most abundant in the Overseas Islands?
Indigenous people.
These Drow had fought against indigenous people more than once; basically, in the Overseas Islands, in areas with slightly better living conditions, there would be indigenous tribes, whether large or small. They had mastered many methods to deal with indigenous people in this harsh living environment; after all, they are Drow, creatures just as dangerous and evil. Even if they had given up the faith in the Spider Queen, the nature of Drow still contained a bit of cunning and cruelty!
“I know.”
Andrei Darkblade looked at the others and said slowly, “But this honorable one wants to directly attack and eliminate the indigenous tribes!”
His words caused a great uproar.
The other Drow Warriors widened their eyes and muttered, “My Lord Darkblade, did you not tell that honorable one what is in those indigenous tribes? Those spirits are rather difficult to deal with, and they have no physical bodies. We suffered heavy losses when we encountered them before. With the pirates in the camp, it’s basically impossible for them to defeat the spirits unless there are some formidable spellcasters!”
The Drow also fought against indigenous spirits.
However, they undoubtedly failed, both due to their lack of strength and the overwhelming numbers of the enemy. Without the power of wizards and priests, it is hard for a group of powerful melee warriors to k*ll semi-energy beings like spirit life.
By the way.
Spirits are immune to any non-extraordinary weapons!
If the spirit possesses demigod abilities, then it is immune to attacks from any extraordinary weapons below the third tier; the immunity is not much different from that of a demigod lich, only that it does not have as strong a physical damage reduction ability as liches, after all, the body of a lich is just a skeleton. In the entire camp, if they encounter a demigod spirit, besides Soren’s legendary curved blade, Icebane, there are no other weapons that could harm it. It’s easy to imagine how passive these inadequately equipped Drow Warriors were when facing spirits; they were practically one-sidedly defeated.
This situation often cannot be helped.
It’s like when you lack dragon-slaying equipment; sometimes you can’t deal with a giant dragon!
“I said it.”
Andrei Darkblade looked at the others and said in a deep voice, “But that honorable one’s attitude is quite resolute. Moreover, I cannot openly refuse him. After all, you all know the current situation of the tribe; angering a pirate king is definitely not a wise choice! However, fortunately, the indigenous tribes here are much weaker than those we have faced; their population is estimated to be only a little over a thousand. According to their customs of hunting, there should only be around three hundred combatants!”
Indigenous warriors do not participate in farming or labor; they rely entirely on the lower classes of indigenous people for sustenance, except for regular hunting and fighting.
The leader of the Drow Warriors glanced at the others and said slowly, “That honorable one said he is confident in dealing with the spirits, so our task is to assist the pirates in dealing with those indigenous people.”
A brief silence.
An older Drow Warrior stood up and said solemnly, “If that honorable one can deal with the spirits, then we are not afraid of those indigenous people. Calculating the time, it’s nearly the migration period for the antelopes and zebras, and this is the hunting season for all indigenous tribes. Next spring’s meat supply relies heavily on this hunt. So they probably won’t launch an attack for now; perhaps we can seize the right time to ambush them, and with good luck, casualties will be greatly reduced!”
The Overseas Islands are somewhat similar to Africa.
Many islands here are scattered, but there are also connected islands since this was once a continental shelf. The creatures in the jungle also have migratory habits; during migrations, the number of beasts can be quite substantial, and sometimes you can encounter migrating elephant herds. This period is the hunting season for indigenous tribes, and much of their meat supply for the following year depends on this hunt. Indigenous people will use sea salt to cure and dry the meat, allowing it to last for a considerable time, until the autumn fishing season of the following year.
The fishing season is when fish migrate; sturgeon, swordfish, striped bass, etc., all head to warmer areas to spawn in autumn, and then return to areas closer to the north in the spring. During this period, the quantity of fish is quite spectacular; you can visually see large numbers of fish along their migratory paths. In simple terms, just throw a large net in, and you could catch dozens of fat fish, and since fishermen don’t hunt much, these fish are quite clumsy, easily caught with a fish fork.
In some ways, the resources of the Overseas Islands are indeed very rich!
(Knowledge [Geography]: The Overseas Islands overall is a long, narrow area of connected islands, stretching to the scale of a continental shelf, but the width is less than a tenth of that. The island group at the edge of the bay stretches all the way north, ultimately approaching the extensive glaciers.)

On the other side.
Soren walked back and forth in the hall, then lifted his head to look at his subordinates and instructed, “Keep an eye on those Drow. If there’s any movement, report to me immediately.”
“Yes.” A Scarface immediately replied and left.
Just as the Drow cannot completely trust Soren, he does not fully trust them either. He has dealt with Drow before and knows a lot about these naturally cunning and intelligent creatures. To control Drow, you either need power or benefits, otherwise they can easily betray you.
Soren closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then said, “Not a single female Drow has appeared, nor have I seen any spellcasters.”
“Is this Drow tribe already fallen to such a state, or have they still not decided to cooperate fully with me? If their leverage is lost, then their value drastically decreases. A Drow tribe that has lost its spellcaster heritage has no future. If it’s the latter, then they still feel a sense of rejection towards themselves; they can cooperate perhaps only because they have no other choice!”
“It is necessary to have formidable power to completely tame them, right?”
This Drow tribe is very valuable; they are part of Soren’s plans and can yield great effects. Moreover, Drow are naturally suited for doing things that cannot see the light. Many of Soren’s means may not be feasible for the pirates, but these Drow can absolutely accomplish them.
He must keep this group of Drow in his grasp!
