The Bear Spirit Soul.
A type of animalized spirit soul, primarily born from totem worship. Although its external manifestation is that of a bear, in fact, the majority of these spirit souls are composed of the souls of intelligent beings. They belong to a semi-energy life form and are somewhat similar to the Saint form, though not as powerful. The one before Soren is the totem bear spirit, which indigenous people enjoy worshipping some fierce beasts, possibly because their ancestors interacted with certain animals, leading them to adopt a particular type of beast as totemic faith.
The most common totems are wolves, bears, tigers, eagles, snakes, etc. Soren’s understanding of totemic faith isn’t extensive, but he knows that one indigenous tribe’s totemic faith should never be provoked easily — a tribe that worships insects as their totem. This tribe is quite challenging to deal with; although they may not be numerous and seem weak, their danger level is higher than that of many tribes with tens of thousands of people. Numerous legendary professionists have fallen into their hands.

The bear spirit soul before him is massive, naturally providing Soren with ample attack opportunities. However, his first-tier extraordinary curved blade seems unable to inflict any damage to the bear spirit soul; only the legendary curved blade, Icebane, can break through the peculiar energy field around the enemy. The opponent is a semi-energy life form, having almost no critical vulnerability and immune to any backstab-type attack effects. The only damage that can be effective against them is heavy attack damage, but no heavy attack damage can trigger a death saving throw!

Soren rolled away from the massive bear paw that kicked up a gale and said in a deep voice, “You go deal with that shaman! I’ll hold off this bear spirit soul!”
He couldn’t tell just how strong the bear spirit soul actually is.
The bear paw it swiped out managed to whip up a fierce wind, making Soren feel as if he were confronting a thousand-year-old black bear spirit from Eastern mythology. Despite his perception of the formidable nature of the bear spirit soul, what he truly feared most was the shaman inside the house who hadn’t shown themselves. Years of battle experience taught him how much of a change a spellcaster could make in battle, so his first thought was to have Vivian take care of the shaman.
Even if the opponent’s profession level had yet to reach 15!
Vivian had always listened to Soren, and without giving it much thought, the little girl raised her hand and cast a fireball spell at the front door, directly blowing half the wall down. Vivian consecutively enhanced her defensive spells and then cautiously flew inside. The enemy seemed very cunning. The shaman had not shown themselves throughout. Yet the little girl felt no fear, because in the face of absolute power, any strategy is useless; a legendary spellcaster is nearly impossible to defeat by one below legendary rank.
Boom!
Soren dodged five attacks from the bear spirit soul in quick succession, but was ultimately forced into a corner and had no choice but to brace himself and block one of the opponent’s attacks with his curved blade.
Thud!
Soren’s figure flew backward, and before he hit the ground, he spat out a mouthful of blood. His body slammed into the wall behind him, causing a human-shaped depression in the dirt wall. Even with his 21 points of extraordinary physique, he felt as if all his innards were churning and shifting. The bear spirit soul’s power exceeded Soren’s expectations; it likely surpassed 25 points, as that last attack had dealt crushing damage, putting him in a severely injured state.
“Cough cough!”
After landing, Soren coughed, blood oozing from the corner of his mouth. The bear spirit soul showed no hesitation; after knocking Soren away with one paw, it charged over with its massive mouth wide open, aiming to bite into his head. Just that one blocked attack caused nearly 50 points of bruising damage to Soren. He estimated the bear’s strength to be around 27 points, likely nearing thirty, as the force behind its every attack seemed to exceed one ton!
— “Hide from sight!”
— “Shadow Travel!”
— “Transform into Slayer!”
In an instant, Soren’s figure disappeared from the spot, slipping into the shadows. At that moment, the immense body of the bear spirit lunged forward, and unable to stop its momentum after losing its target, it crashed into the nearby house, bringing it down. As the house collapsed, Soren’s figure emerged from the distorted shadows, and with only his curved blade remaining in hand, he suddenly thrust it towards the bear spirit’s rear end while it was in mid-charge!
Even without critical vulnerabilities, he couldn’t believe that thrusting the whole blade into the bear spirit’s rear wouldn’t result in heavy damage!
In fact, Soren had overthought it.
He thrust his blade into the bear spirit soul’s anal area. With the strength boost from the Slayer form and the effect of Vivian’s Dragon Power spell, Soren nearly drove the entire curved blade in. However, he didn’t feel as though he had pierced into the intestines; rather, it felt like he had stabbed into the tough layer of muscle. This made Soren wonder if the bear spirit even had internal organs. It appeared to be merely an outline of a bear spirit’s body, possibly lacking even internal organs.
“Roar!”
Although he didn’t score a critical hit, Soren’s attack unintentionally angered the bear spirit soul while also dealing significant damage. Spirit-class lives have unique critical hit spots that can only be accurately identified with the legendary specialty of “Weakness Insight.” While Soren couldn’t deliver a critical hit, his attack still dealt more damage than striking anywhere else.
Swoosh!
Even in Slayer form, Soren dared not confront the bear spirit soul head-on. The strength of animals far exceeds that of humans. A typical brown bear’s swipes can nearly kill a human instantly. A full-grown adult brown bear’s strikes can shatter a bison’s spine; the bear spirit soul before him was even more terrifying in terms of strength. It was likely that the entire Overseas Islands only had a species mockingly termed “The Great Arm Golden Monkey” that could match it in raw power! (Knowledge: Biology — Silverback Gorilla Variant.)
Withdrawing the curved blade, Soren found no blood on the blade, as if the bear spirit soul had no blood inside at all. Accompanied by an enraged roar, a massive bear paw swept towards him. Soren, not daring to block it head-on, could only leap away but then swiftly slapped his palm against the bear spirit soul’s back.
— “Vampire’s Touch!”
The spell’s effect remained effective since the opponent was not a demigod-class spirit.
As the energy conversion of his body increased, spirit-class beings not only became immune to any non-extraordinary weapon attacks but could also resist many low-level spells of levels 1-3. This was due to the accumulation of spell resistance; legendary professionists with sufficiently high spell resistance could also negate many low-level spell effects. The Vampire’s Touch directly siphoned the target’s life energy, causing the bear spirit soul to bear almost all of the damage while a hint of color returned to Soren’s pale face.
A pure surge of life energy flooded into him, and Soren’s injuries healed considerably!

Sounds of spell explosions echoed from inside the house. Soren did not dare to take his attention off the situation there but could only glance while dodging into the air. Vivian seemed to have encountered a bit of trouble, but the telepathic connection told Soren that the little girl wasn’t injured, just dealing with some annoying traps inside. He sensed her anger. The “Shadow Assassination” was a very useful combat skill; its function was to use shadow energy to erode the target’s body, meaning it was effective upon contact.
Soren’s Wanderer level was 10, and as long as contact occurred, Shadow Assassination would deal an additional 10 points of shadow erosion damage.
This damage might not seem significant.
But accumulating ten opportunities each day would yield nearly 100 points of additional damage.

Suddenly, an explosion occurred inside the house, reminiscent of a delayed fireball exploding. Soren couldn’t discern the spell’s level but could feel the elemental energy from the explosion. The blast felt as if it had been prepared with a large quantity of highly explosive materials. The entire roof was blown off, followed by a rain of rubble and a nauseating scent that sapped his strength. Even in Slayer form, Soren felt slightly affected by the smell, unsure what substance had been distilled out.

Soren’s curved blade once again slashed across the bear spirit soul’s back. Just as he prepared to pull back after scoring a hit, the bear spirit soul suddenly roared.
— “Bear Spirit Battle Roar [Legendary Skill]!”
This sudden roar stunned Soren completely, creating a sensation of stars swirling before his eyes, and blood began to seep from his ear drums. It felt as if he had been struck by the legendary Lion’s Roar technique! The roar formed a tangible shockwave, vibrating outward like ripples, causing the nearby houses to tremble.
Sonic Attack.
One of the attack methods Soren disliked and feared the most!
