Chapter 89: Shadow Plane
In the hall.
Soren fell into deep thought, and after a while, it seemed he made a decision. He raised his hand to summon a subordinate and instructed him a few things, then headed toward the area where the slaves were held. The Drow’s skills in enslaving were quite sophisticated, utilizing various forms of punishment along with formidable psychological manipulation. Many ordinary beings, once they accepted their transformation into the identity of a slave, gradually became much more obedient, and with further nurturing, turned into qualified submissive slaves.
The consciousness of rebellion among the slaves was not particularly strong, as most beings inherently possess submissiveness; living was better than dying.
The subpar indigenous people captured last time were essentially working. Their status within the tribe was already similar to that of slaves, as the basic structure of the indigenous people’s tribe included chiefs, priests, nobles, warriors, commoners, and slaves. However, these indigenous people would occasionally slack off, and would not appear to be very dedicated in their work, requiring the supervising pirates to whip them into obedience. Soren wandered around the area for a bit before heading towards the location where the shadow crack had appeared.
At this moment, he also casually retrieved the information prompts he had seen earlier.
“Entering the Shadow Plane!”
“You have completed your first official interdimensional travel!… You have obtained some information about interdimensional travel!…”
“Your agility has reached 25 points.”
“You have successfully entered the Shadow Plane!… You have gained partial information about the legendary skill [Shadow Domain]!…”
……
This was the information prompt he received upon entering the Shadow Plane.
Soren was not unfamiliar with the legendary skill [Shadow Domain], so he was not surprised to receive this legendary skill’s information prompt, as this legendary skill is composed of three parts. This means that the information prompt needed to appear three times in total, with quite high requirements. Upon successfully meeting the conditions, Soren would be able to master the legendary skill [Shadow Domain]. He had received the first information prompt much earlier than now because someone had helped him open the shadow portal back then.
As for now.
It would take some time to obtain the three information prompts, as Soren needed to improve the overall profession level of the Wanderer to above level 15 to possibly receive the second information prompt for [Shadow Domain]. The requirements for the third information prompt were even higher; Soren’s life form needed to establish a certain connection with the Shadow Plane.
Any domain-type abilities were not simple! Naturally, mastering them was quite challenging!
As for another prompt.
That was the initial prompt, which belonged to a passive supernatural ability.
Attributes are the essential foundational abilities, and generally, having over 20 points qualifies one to enter the extraordinary realm. Among various attributes, constitution is the easiest to break through, and at 20 points, one can master the first passive ability, which is the [Regeneration] effect that Soren chose initially. As for the subsequent special abilities, the attribute value must reach 25 points.
Coincidentally, after obtaining [Weakened Divinity], Soren raised his agility to 25 points.
Thus, he mastered a passive ability.
“Epic Agility [Talent Specialty]: Your agility has surpassed that of mortals; whether it is balance or coordination, it exists in a realm unreachable by mortals no matter how hard they try. Perhaps only characters from epic legends and avatars of deities descending to the mortal realm could compete with you in agility. From now on, your agility value has completely surpassed the mortal domain, granting you an epic bonus of 1 point on any agility-related checks, and your base evasion ability increases permanently by +2.” (Note: [Legendary Evasion] is a prerequisite skill.)
This is an important passive specialty of the Wanderer.
Not just because it grants an additional 1 point of epic bonus. But also due to the permanent +2 evasion bonus. In the future, many powerful legendary specialties will require corresponding epic attributes as prerequisites. For example, epic constitution is a foundational requirement for many powerful specialties of warriors; as a qualified legendary professionist, one must at least elevate one attribute above 25 points.
……
Half a day’s time quickly passed.
At nightfall, Soren and Vivian arrived at the location where the shadow crack had initially appeared. Although he planned to invite Gloria over, Soren still decided to investigate alone first. After all, as long as he stayed clear of the wizard tower’s range, dealing with creatures from the Shadow Plane was relatively easy with his current abilities. Moreover, since creatures from the Shadow Plane were cross-planar enemies, they were indeed challenging to deal with, but they inherently offered a 20% reward in killing experience.
Generally, cross-planar enemies have about a 10%-20% killing experience bonus compared to monsters of the same level in the material plane.
Thus, back in the day, many people liked to venture into the Abyss.
Time passed gradually.
Soren waited until the early hours of the morning but still did not see the appearance of the shadow crack. At this time, Vivian, sitting beside him, appeared to be a bit drowsy, her little head resting against Soren’s leg.
“It seems it may not appear today.”
Soren gently stroked the little girl’s hair and said softly, “Vivian, how about you go back to rest for a while? I’ll wake you up when it appears.”
The shadow crack does not appear at fixed times.
Many factors influence its emergence, and the location can even shift, so when it still hadn’t appeared by now, Soren understood that today might not be the day for it. Anything cross-planar requires some patience; back then, he waited for the entrance to an underground ruin for a whole one and a half months in the desert before finally seeing the interdimensional passage of that ancient ruin emerge. The final rewards were naturally quite plentiful.
Vivian gently shook her head and snuggled closer to Soren.
Since she didn’t intend to go back to rest, Soren couldn’t force her. He took off his cloak and draped it over the little girl, then silently observed the shadows before him.
The night passed like this!
Soren waited for the sun to rise, still not able to see the shadow crack appear. He did not feel overly anxious about this; during the day, he continued to busily issue orders, having his subordinates supervise the slaves’ work and gradually construct the entire camp. When night fell, he returned to the location where the shadow crack was expected to appear, quietly waiting for the whole night.
Two days passed like this.
When Soren returned to keep watch on the third day, a crack gradually opened before his eyes, revealing another gray world!
