Mayoufu Meteor.
For Soren, the greatest significance of this spell is its ability to penetrate defenses, almost capable of breaking through any enemy’s defenses, whether they are dragons, demons, devils, demigod liches, or even deities descended in the form of saints. Mayoufu Meteor can bypass their protective force fields and deal a certain degree of damage to these enemies. Perhaps this damage is not particularly high, as these foes possess quite formidable damage reduction, with some even reaching over 90%. However, as long as it can deal damage, it means the enemy can be taken down, and ultimately what is needed is tactical arrangement.
In the past, many guilds united to slay gods, using this third-tier spell as their breakthrough.
Pureblood dragons are immune to most physical attacks without armor-piercing properties. Many high-level demons and devils have the trait of being immune to normal weapon attacks, while demigod liches can theoretically become immune to extraordinary weapons of +3 or lower. Meanwhile, deities descended in saint form can gain enhancements from the power of laws, only extraordinary items of +5 or higher can break through their protective force fields.
Legendary items are, after all, too rare.
Weapons that can reach legendary level are even fewer, and these weapons are well-known pieces of equipment, mostly held by powerful narrative inhabitants. Therefore, Mayoufu Meteor’s ability to penetrate defenses holds a strategic position. Moreover, this spell suffers very little from damage reduction, allowing full damage to many enemies.
Thus, it is also referred to as the easiest element to obtain for slaying gods!
…………
For Soren, acquiring the spell scroll of Mayoufu Meteor was unexpectedly delightful.
Because this spell can deal full damage to souls, theoretically, it can penetrate the defensive force fields of demigod souls, ultimately eliminating some very difficult demigod souls.
Additionally, it belongs to spells that are nearly lost to time.
Born before the era of the Arcane Empire, it is still held by very few wizards today.
Soren carefully stored the spell scroll and then looked at Vivian, signaling the little girl to come along with him. The nearby buildings were connected, but they had already fallen into considerable ruin. There was basically no hint of life here. After Soren turned around a bit and found no other hidden compartments, he headed towards the Wizard Tower. Thoroughly searching the entire ruins would be quite troublesome, and Soren did not have that much time, so he could only investigate the situation here first.
At some unknown time.
A wisp of gray mist began to rise nearby, and when Soren reached the outskirts of the building group, he involuntarily shuddered.
Because he saw a sphere!
No, no, no.
It should not be called a sphere, but rather a cover—like a glass dome-like object. Inside was a large rack. On the rack lay a skeleton, but it did not resemble a human; instead, it had sharp fangs, thick bones, and horns on its skull. The foot bones resembled those of a cow, and from either side of the spinal bones, there extended a pair of bony wings.
Soren recognized what this was.
He had seen this type of skeleton several times in the Abyss!
What lay before him was a demonic skeleton, and it was of a rather formidable high-level demon. If Soren remembered correctly, it should be one of the most difficult demons to deal with, the Balroth Demon.
[Challenge Level 16, Biological Level 21+ Large Outsider (Chaotic, Cross-Planar, Evil)]
It is a creature of the same rank as dragons.
The Balroth Fire Demon, which Soren is more familiar with, is the most powerful among the Balroth demons.
“What’s the background of the master of this Wizard Tower?”
Soren could not help but stop in his tracks, reaching out to stop the curious Vivian beside him, whispering, “That’s the skeleton of a Balroth Demon. It looks like it has been dead for a long time! The master of this Wizard Tower must be a very powerful legendary archmage. This Balroth Demon was clearly either captured or summoned by him and then forcibly imprisoned inside!”
Before even getting close to the Wizard Tower, he encountered this thing.
Soren felt a sinking sensation in his heart, as everything before him seemed to exceed his capacity.
Legendary Wizard.
A truly terrifying existence!
Legendary Archmage.
An entity that can contend with deities!
In such a Wizard Tower, if someone told Soren that there was a Golem Legion inside, he would probably believe it. Because back in the day, during the legendary Sword Saint’s famous battle, the War of Golems was triggered when someone accidentally activated the defensive mechanism of a high-level wizard tower. At that time, over ten Diamond Golems, more than a hundred Iron Golems, over a hundred Puppet Golems, and hundreds of Clay Golems, Stone Golems, Iron Golems, and so on appeared.
“Let’s stop here.”
Soren stood before the Balroth Demon skeleton, pondering for a long time before speaking in a deep voice, “Vivian! Let’s stop here for now. I have a bad feeling; the dangers here might exceed our estimates. It’s best to wait for Gloria to arrive before proceeding. After all, she understands the Wizard Tower better than we do and may be able to enter the inner tower without activating the defensive mechanisms.”
We cannot storm in recklessly.
Neither Soren nor Vivian could be entirely sure if there were any Maze-like traps here.
Simply put, their knowledge was insufficient to discern whether there would be something akin to an eight-diagram formation ahead; if they rushed in recklessly, they could easily fall victim to a ‘Displacement’ spell or be transported into a dimensional space. The simplest understanding of a Maze is a fantastical version of an eight-diagram formation. If you cannot find a way out of the formation, you can only force your way through.
“Brother, look over there!”
Vivian gently nodded. Although another voice in her head was clamoring that a mere Wizard Tower was nothing, and she could break it in an instant, the little girl still forcibly suppressed that brash thought. Vivian’s intuition warned her that ahead was dangerous, and she absolutely would not allow Lilian to recklessly rush in. Observing her surroundings, as the mist before her faded a bit, she appeared to see something and said, “Brother! The plants over there look strange!”
Plants?
At her words, Soren focused his gaze; his visual acuity was not as adept as Vivian’s. This was not a matter of eyesight, but rather the difference in their strengths. Soren relied on mortal eyes to see, while Vivian viewed things from a perspective close to deities and saints, with divine power able to pierce some misty illusions. However, Soren now possessed Weakened Divinity, and he gradually saw through the mist in front of him, noticing some very strange plants.
They were also quite familiar.
Because these plants were very reminiscent of the mutated carnivorous plants he had seen in the Material Plane. They did not appear to grow haphazardly as in the Material Plane but rather seemed to have been pruned and fixed to grow within certain areas. If he were to describe their growth distribution, Soren felt it resembled an artificially arranged garden where the owner had planted them in various positions throughout the garden.
It was like the front yard of a mansion.
