Abyss Domination – Chapter 38

Chapter 37: The Legendary Battle (Part 2)

Amber City. Once a bustling metropolis, now it has turned into a wasteland, with raging fires burning everywhere, and faint cries for help emanating from amidst the crumbling buildings. Unfortunately, no one is left to assist these unfortunate commoners. Dark shadows linger in the ruins consumed by flames, pale skeletons glimmer with the ghostly blue flames of souls, and numerous corpses are revived by blasphemous words, picking up weapons and rising to walk towards the only intact place in Amber City.

Temple District.

This is the only relatively intact part of Amber City.

The temple of the gods emits a faint glow, shrouded in a layer of ethereal light, while the Temple Guards, fully armored, stand in the front, with the few survivors of Amber City’s Guard Squad behind them. Even the once gentle and cultivated priests have now shed their robes for heavy armor. They are not purely spellcasters, but also possess significant melee abilities.

Among them stands the priestess, who once helped Soren.

Dressed in silver half-armor, holding a knight’s shield, her weapon is a three-foot-long chain flail.

This weapon is notoriously difficult to wield, but its lethality is astonishing! She had received specialized combat training, but among all the weapons, none felt as natural to her as the chain flail, which is why she chose this unique and dangerous weapon. The sight of the slender priestess in silver armor, wielding a knight’s shield and gripping a heavy chain flail in one hand, creates a striking visual impact.

But it also signifies the dire situation they are in!

Even informal priests have no choice but to join the battle because behind them are the few survivors of Amber City, trembling in the temple’s main hall, waiting for their final fate.

The blasphemous words continue to echo!

Among the evil fallen are even more wicked blasphemous priests, using blasphemous words to weaken the temple’s divine power protection. Eight Fear Knights circle around the temple area, their nightmarish steeds exhaling flames carrying the stench of sulfur. Countless undead wander nearby, these dead resurrected by blasphemous words and raised spirits will dissipate by dawn the next day.

But they might not make it to that time.

The temple’s power is weakening, and the Fear Knights are driving their nightmares closer. Though feeling restless, the nightmares inch closer to the temple. This is a terrifying presence they cannot match!

Eight legendary-level Fear Knights; even the full extent of Amber City’s strength cannot contend with them.

Despair blankets this ruined city.

Fear.

It is everywhere!

Just when everyone had given up hope and prepared to face their final fate, strange commotion suddenly erupted in the distance.

The priests have begun to comfort others, telling them that even in d*ath, their souls would return to the divine kingdom, where they would find eternal life and peace. The Temple’s guardian knights have already begun to kneel in prayer, imploring the blessings of the gods, vowing to fight until the last moment.

As long as the temple’s power hasn’t been blasphemed, their souls will not be tainted.

Suddenly!

A guard of Amber City showed an incredulous expression, staring wide-eyed and pointing ahead, shouting, “Look over there!”

An inconspicuous figure appeared in the darkness.

He has a completely bald head with no hair, dressed only in tattered coarse clothing, his feet simply bandaged, and he carries no weapon. Yet around him swirls a mass of undead, groups of them launching frenzied attacks against him, specters clawing at him, skeletons swinging swords.

But he pays them no mind.

When these attacks landed on him, they caused no disturbance, not even harming a hair. He merely glanced calmly ahead, and upon seeing the temple’s survivors, a look of relief crossed his face.

“Finally, there’s still time!”

He sighed softly, suddenly stomping his foot, unleashing an invisible shockwave.

Hundreds of skeletons and specters around him flew backward!

The ground cracked spider-web-like in all directions, and amidst the rumbling collapse, the stone tiles within a hundred meters of him shattered into tiny fragments.

“Extraordinary Ascendance!”

Priest Fei’er’s face showed an expression of disbelief as he looked ahead and suddenly shouted: “Form a defensive formation!”

“Empower with divine techniques!”

“Hold until dawn, and we will be saved!”

A Legendary Monk.

The unassuming figure that appeared before them was actually a monk who had stepped into the Legendary Domain and was the rarest kind, an Ascetic!

—Inch Power!

The inconspicuous monk in the darkness suddenly leaped forward, crossing several dozen meters, and delivered a punch to the skeletal knight directly ahead. The skeletal knight, awakened by blasphemous words, trembled, its undead armor unchanged, yet every bone in its body shattered inch by inch, turning into piles of bones on the ground.

—Sunfire Force!

Facing the encroaching undead from all sides, the monk clapped his hands together, and instantly a ball of scorching fire erupted in his palms. When he struck out, a dull explosion reverberated through the air, a surging wave of heat coupled with searing flames spread outward, powerful gusts blowing dust and debris, sending nearby undead flying over ten meters away.

Low-tier resurrected skeletons fell in droves.

The blasphemous priests finally noticed this monk’s existence. Three of them stepped forward to cast spells, unleashing waves of sinister light directed towards the monk’s figure in the distance.

—Moonshadow Force!

The monk’s expression remained unchanged as he swiftly clapped his hands together. His skin turned golden, and a silver energy field manifested, directly resisting all spell attacks.

Then he leaped forcefully, and his figure seemed to vanish from the spot.

—Ethereal Body!

—Invisible Step!

In an instant, the monk appeared before the blasphemous priests, shouting a powerful blow downward.

—Mage Armor.

—Stone Skin Spell.

An invisible energy field appeared around the blasphemous priest’s body, blocking the monk’s attack, while simultaneously, their bodies transformed into the color of stone, encasing them entirely. Nearby blasphemous priests rapidly cast spells, layering another energy deflection field over themselves.

—Diamond Palm!

The monk retracted his palm and struck out again; his hand transformed into a golden hue. With a crisp crack, the energy protective field surrounding the blasphemous priest shattered instantly. His own Stone Skin Spell crumbled in the blink of an eye, and with just one palm strike, one blasphemous priest’s breastbone was completely crushed, collapsing like mud, falling to the ground.

“A bunch of foolish spellcasters.”

“Did you really think that a layer of stone skin and an energy shield could block our attacks?”

In the darkness.

An immensely powerful figure stepped forward.

With each of his steps, the ground trembled; he stood about two meters four tall, his arms as thick as others’ waists. He hefted a heavy cleaver, likely weighing over 600 pounds; it felt like a door panel, and he casually walked into the undead’s encirclement.

“Leave this to me.”

The incredibly sturdy man said, suddenly pounding his chest. His already formidable physique swelled, horrific muscles and bulging veins appeared; with a series of crackling explosions, his bones seemed to stretch upward, transforming him into a massive figure over three meters tall.

—Frenzy.

But that was not the end. Following a primal roar, he slammed the ground, and his already exaggerated form erupted once more!

—Legendary Frenzy.

The ground cracked under the terrifying force, the mighty figure now towered more than five meters high, and the formerly awkward cleaver fit perfectly in his hands, covered with muscle packed with unimaginable strength. His resilient skin bore thick, sinuous bl**d vessels, making him look like a killing machine from ancient times!

“sbd!!!”

A wild, earth-shattering roar echoed out.

Centered on this terrifying figure, the skeletons within a fifty-meter radius were shattered into piles of debris, and the nearby blasphemous priests let out horrifying screams, bl**d oozing from their eardrums, eye sockets, and nostrils, their bodies seeming to go insane, collapsing in a daze on the ground with foolish grins.

—War Roar!

The towering giant hoisted the heavy cleaver onto his shoulder, glancing at the now-dim-witted blasphemous priests, and mocked: “What a bunch of weak spellcasters!”

—Earthsplitter Strike!

The massive giant stomped the ground, causing a fissure to open up, and the area where the blasphemous priests stood collapsed with a thunderous crash, burying the fragile spellcasters beneath the rubble.

Clop clop clop!

The heavy sound of hooves echoed through the ruins.

When the legendary-level Fear Knight appeared before him, the barbarian from the Legendary Domain showed a serious expression. He slowly lowered the heavy cleaver and licked his lips, stating, “Finally, a worthy opponent has appeared!”

—Undying Frenzy!

A crimson aura enveloped his skin, and the barbarian roared, swinging his massive cleaver toward the Fear Knight before him.

Clang!

A heavy executioner’s sword firmly blocked the cleaver’s attack; the nightmare emitted a painful wail, its hooves sinking deep into the ground.

The Fear Knight slowly dismounted from his war horse, bl**d-red pupils fixated on the barbarian. He tore away the tattered, bl**d-stained cloak and adjusted his grip on the sword from single-handed to double-handed, holding the heavy executioner’s sword across his chest.

The real battle.

Has only just begun!
