Chapter 152: Flight Shooting

Flight Spell.
This is a very important spell for wizards.
However, this spell has considerable limitations, namely that the flight spell requires the spellcaster to maintain it. Flying in the air to bombard enemies is simply not realistic because it requires a highly difficult specialty ability to master. Even fighter jets need to fly back and forth to perform continuous attacks, so a wizard wanting to cast spells while in flight naturally has higher specialty requirements.
That is the combat spellcasting and flight spellcasting specialties.
Without the support of these two specialties, forcibly casting spells could result in spell backlash, and the entire person would fall from the sky.
Soren lacked the flight spellcasting specialty and the combat spellcasting specialty.
So he could not cast spells at all while in the air; the chances of spell failure would exceed 90%!
However, in flight, it would not affect his ability to perform other actions, such as nocking an arrow on the bow, as this action does not fall under spellcasting and is within the control of the flight spell. Thus, when Soren’s figure soared into the air, he shot out three arrows in quick succession. Although it was not as fluid as on the ground, his powerful agility allowed him to find his balance. Casting spells while flying is equivalent to maintaining two spells simultaneously, whereas shooting in flight is a separate matter.
Swish, swish, swish!
Three sharp arrows flew out, one hitting below the back of the bipedal wyvern, another striking its side abdomen, and the last one directly hitting its jaw, with half of the arrow shaft embedded in it.
— “Death Check!”
Soren’s attack seemed to trigger a death check; the bipedal wyvern let out a mourning cry, swaying, and then its massive body wobbled and began to fall.
The bipedal wyvern, a lesser dragon species, had a strong save that spared it from the death check, but it was gradually descending from mid-air.
Meanwhile.
A series of data prompts suddenly appeared before Soren:
“Hit Target!”
“You dealt 16 points of piercing damage to the target!…”
“You gained partial information on the specialty [Precise Shooting].”
“Hit Target!”
“You dealt 27 points of piercing damage to the target!…”
“You gained partial information on the specialty [Moving Shot].”
“Hit Target!”
“You dealt 54 points of piercing damage to the target!… Hit the enemy’s vital point!… Triggered death saving throw!… Target passed the death saving throw!…”
“You gained partial information on the specialty [Flight Shooting].”
A flood of data prompts emerged, and even Soren was momentarily surprised. He did not expect to receive so many specialty information prompts at once.
The most important attribute affecting ranged attacks is agility, and Soren was already at the near-legendary domain level in agility.
Therefore, he had a talent for archery; even if he was not very familiar with it before, he quickly mastered it, not to mention that he had many other specialties to support him. That is why the leader of the drow warriors suggested that Soren try archery; he recognized Soren’s talent in this area. The near-legendary level of attributes enhanced Soren’s ability to master archery, and significantly increased his speed in mastering such specialties. This is something Soren has already discovered—temporarily boosting attribute states would improve the speed of specialty acquisition considerably.
The bipedal wyvern was nearing the ground.
It started to hunt the indigenous slave it had captured, which had already fallen to the ground nearly bloodied; although it did not directly crash, it had lost its flying balance and was doomed to die or be crippled.
Soren did not rush to reap the killing experience; he directly aimed at another bipedal wyvern.
Swish!
This time, Soren slowed his speed slightly.
He aimed at the bipedal wyvern’s head and shot, the arrow transforming into a cold light. However, due to the air and wind speed, it deviated slightly and hit below the neck of the bipedal wyvern. It did not hit the head’s vital point.
No data prompt appeared.
The first specialty data prompt is the easiest to obtain, while the difficulty increases for the next two acquisitions, requiring time to accumulate.
A howl erupted.
The bipedal wyvern released the corpse it had been gripping with its claws and flapped its wings fiercely to accelerate, flying directly towards the distant mountains.
It was afraid.
Even monsters can feel fear, especially when their kind falls from the sky in such a short time.
Swish, swish, swish!
Soren continued to shoot, firing all his arrows in one go, but unfortunately, as he increased the distance, the power of his arrows significantly decreased. Only a portion hit the wyvern’s wings, causing damage that was insufficient to threaten the bipedal wyvern.
The speed of the flight spell could not match the bipedal wyvern’s full-speed flight. Soren watched as the enemy flew further and further away.
In the end, he could only helplessly land.
Having wings makes it much easier to fly; dragons are still the rulers of the sky, and few dare to engage in aerial battles with them.
Thud!
Soren lightly landed on the ground, hearing the cheers of his subordinates behind him, along with the sounds of other pirate leaders approaching.
He rushed toward the fallen bipedal wyvern. Even from such a high fall, it still stumbled to maintain its form. Upon landing, it did not die immediately but showed signs of broken bones in its legs and abdomen. Not far away lay the corpse of the indigenous slave, its abdomen directly pierced by the dragon’s claws, intestines spilling out.
Soren’s expression was grim as he frowned and approached, then swung his sword toward the bipedal wyvern’s head.
Splatter!
Blood sprayed out.
Soren decapitated the bipedal wyvern and then frowned as he gazed at the distant mountains.
“Your Grace!”
The half-elf first mate and the red-haired pirate woman approached. Upon seeing Soren, they slightly bowed their heads. The half-elf first mate said, “It was these two bipedal wyverns that attacked the slaves. One had a wound on its tail; I remember it clearly.”
Bipedal wyvern.
Challenge Level 8-12 lesser dragon species, with a biological level between 15-18. A few with special bloodlines can reach legendary levels.
Soren glanced at the bipedal wyvern’s corpse before him and slowly said, “Have someone carry the body back.”
“These bipedal wyverns won’t dare to attack again for now. In a few days, we will deal with them. The nearby monsters should be cleared as well.”
The bipedal wyvern resembles a pterosaur from the Jurassic period.
They are quite large, have sharp dragon claws and fangs, and are very aggressive. Their long neck is a significant weakness.
As a relatively difficult lesser dragon species, it will still pose a challenge for Soren’s subordinates.
Soon, others rushed over.
A bipedal wyvern weighs nearly two to three tons, and it took twenty to thirty people to carry it back.
A big-bearded pirate held the wyvern’s head, and once they returned to the camp, someone immediately lifted the wyvern’s head, leading to cheers among the pirates. Even among the slaves, many expressed their awe towards Soren. Strength can always impress in many situations; the consecutive attacks from the bipedal wyverns had terrified the slaves. However, the terrifying creature was easily taken down by Soren.
He had long since changed!
The wyvern he once fought desperately against was now no match for Soren.
When Soren returned to the camp, Gloria happened to come out; she had come to check on the cheers outside.
Gloria glanced at the bloody corpse of the bipedal wyvern from afar, frowning slightly and asked, “What happened?”
Seeing her, Soren smiled and said slowly, “There is a wyvern’s nest nearby that just attacked the slaves. I took down one and the other escaped.”
Gloria nodded slightly, lifted a strand of hair behind her ear, and playfully smiled, “Do you need my help?”
“No need,” Soren chuckled and replied, “I will deal with them tomorrow.”
“Focus on studying magic circles and it’s best to secure a portal that can be opened and closed. The shadow plane it connects to gives me a strong sense of crisis, and being able to come and go freely would make things much easier.”
Gloria nodded and softly said, “Mm. I understand.”
The bipedal wyvern was soon taken down for skinning and muscle extraction, and the pirates were eager to taste dragon meat.
The drow warriors were also pointing at it; as agile warriors, they were now unable to equip the expensive mithril-alloy armor. The extraordinary leather armor made from dragon hide was the best armor they could obtain. However, the drow warriors were not in a position to speak up because they had yet to fully commit to Soren; their status was still inferior to those elite pirates. In fact, only a small portion of the extraordinary weapons brought back from the northern region had been allocated to the drow warriors, while most were used to arm the core pirates under Soren.
Rewards cannot be given out indiscriminately.
If he were to focus solely on winning over the drow warriors, it would leave the pirates feeling neglected!
These pirates are Soren’s most loyal subordinates now.
………………
On another side.
The leader of the drow warriors, Andrei Darkblade, fell into deep thought as he observed everything before him. After a moment, he called over a drow ranger and whispered a few instructions, then said, “Send word back.”
“He is getting stronger!”
“Warn those stubborn females not to act rashly! This man is not so easy to manipulate! They only think about using his power to strengthen their clan, but they do not realize they are feeding a tiger!”
Proud female drow elves.
These females, who held ruling positions in the Underdark and held identities much higher than their male counterparts, still had not fully recognized Soren’s identity.
For Andrei Darkblade, this was a dangerous situation!
Because he knew very well just how dangerous this Throat Cutter was, and how cruel his methods could be. He worried about how terrible things would become once this lord lost his patience.
