Chapter Ten: Lulu Meow
Late February.
A week had passed in the blink of an eye, and Soren finally received a response from the Eastern Pirates amidst his busy preparations.
They wanted to sit down and talk.
In this world, there are no eternal enemies, only eternal interests. The disruption of the Eastern Sea Route was a loss not just for Soren, as they could not transport expensive Eastern goods to the Southern Coast for profit either. Compared to the relatively fertile southern areas, the expanse of the Eastern Desert is quite vast due to the energy mutations left over from the era of the Arcane Empire; the area of the Eastern Desert can cover two-thirds of the region. Such a large desert severely limits the output of the Eastern World, and trade is the most crucial economic source for the Eastern Pirates.
The next morning.
In the waters east of Fury Sand Island, Soren encountered the fleet from the East.
It is hard to believe that the largest force among the Eastern Pirates is controlled by a group of monks.
Lawful Evil monks.
Their presence is evident among the desert bandits and Eastern Pirates, making them quite formidable foes.
The monk sent to negotiate with Soren was none other than a legendary monk. As the Dragon Head Battleship drew near, several figures flew out from the pirate ship. Dressed in tight-fitting clothing, these Eastern monks landed directly on the water, then swiftly advanced across the sea until they finally landed on the deck of the Dragon Head Battleship.
— “Wave Walking!”
A unique technique of the Eastern monks, akin to an unspoken secret.
These monks exhibited clear Eastern ethnic characteristics, though it’s hard to describe what precisely sets them apart, they resembled people from the Indian race quite closely.
Soren stood on the deck with a cold gaze.
As the Eastern monk examined him, Soren was likewise observing his counterpart.
He was a relatively young legendary monk.
At least from his appearance, he didn’t seem very old. His looks were not much different from the Eastern people Soren remembered, although his skin leaned toward a sub-race, his forehead, nose bridge, and eye sockets exhibited distinct Western ethnic traits. His gaze was sharp, and his palms bore thick calluses. Monks excel at unarmed combat, and it would not be an exaggeration to compare their hands to steel and iron bones. The most striking feature was his skin, which had a slight golden hue, as if the yellow skin had evolved to a certain extent toward a golden tone.
—【Transcendence】!
The special ability unique to legendary monks.
However, Soren preferred to refer to it as the ‘Diamond Body’ because monks who reach the legendary realm can become immune to diseases and toxins, and they will never age further, only dying when their lifespan is up. Ordinary weapons cannot harm them, and they possess astonishing resistance to spells. Legendary monks are among the most challenging opponents to tackle.
“Your Excellency!”
The legendary monk before him gazed at Soren, seemingly unable to believe that he was the legendary Executioner – Soren.
From a superficial perspective, Soren appeared far too young.
Moreover, in terms of strength, Soren seemed not to have reached the legendary domain; at least, he did not appear legendary at this moment. Because legendary professionists experience a form of sublimation in their souls. As a legendary monk with high perceptual ability, he could sense this. However, Soren’s reputation had been built upon countless heads, and while there was doubt, the other party showed no disrespect.
“Please!”
Soren gestured for him to take a seat and glanced at the three monks behind him.
All high-level professionists.
The foundation of the Eastern Pirates still remained incredibly robust. When he traveled to the Eastern World, he encountered many legendary strongmen. This may be due to the energy mutations from the era of the Arcane Empire, or possibly because of the harsh environment; the Eastern World often sees ancient evils, evil gods, and divine bastards appear. There was a monastery of monks built directly on top of the nest of an ancient evil that even Soren dared not invade at the peak of his strength. (Note: Its name seems to be Demon Cactus, a terrifying evil that ends an era.)
One tenet of the monks’ teachings is to guard these ancient evils.
This is true for lawful good, lawful neutral, and lawful evil monks alike; although the monks of the three factions come from many different monasteries, the essence of lawfulness remains, and their task is to prevent chaotic and evil beings from causing greater destruction. There were even adventurers active primarily in the Eastern World who claimed to have encountered a legendary monk of profession level 40.
Soren did not believe this.
Because a profession level 40 monk would have combat power that could nearly break through the limits.
In terms of physical attacks or spell damage, it would almost be impossible to threaten him; Soren estimated that the most powerful monk in the Eastern World would only be around profession level 30. (Note: The legendary God of Slaughter who created the “Lunar Shadow Style” and “Sunshine Style” had a profession level of 40.)
That was the limit he could estimate!
………………
Fury Sand Island.
Soren was talking with the legendary monk from the East in the hall.
However intense the fighting might get, they would still have to sit down and negotiate in the end, as the distance between the East and South Coasts was significant, and they could not form a never-ending deadlock.
Voices of argument seemed to emerge from within.
However, Vivian wasn’t paying much attention to it; she was more interested in the three bald monks outside because she had once encountered a monk who even gave her a small gift.
“Hey!”
The little girl, dressed in a black princess dress, tilted her head to scrutinize the monk guarding the door and chirped, “I’ve seen people like you before. But he seemed way more powerful than you.”
The monk outside said nothing, merely gazing at the little girl with a look of surprise.
“Boring.”
Vivian pouted, suddenly her big eyes darted around, and she cried out, “I heard you all have some particularly powerful combat skills. Do you dare to compete with my follower?”
The three monks exchanged glances, with one of them seemingly eager to give it a try.
However, when Vivian drew out her chosen candidate for competition, disappointment instantly appeared on the monk’s face, even a bit of a perplexed look.
Indeed.
The one Vivian picked was Lulu Meow!
Lulu Meow was wearing a pink dress today, with many sweet candies hidden in her pockets, and as Vivian’s little follower, she was basically following her around all day.
Just like her little tail!
At this moment, Lulu Meow, who had just stolen a piece of candy, found herself pulled to the front with a confused expression, looking around in wonder.
“Don’t underestimate her!”
Vivian huffed, pouting, “You might not even be able to beat her!”
“Lulu Meow.”
“Attack the first bald guy in front. If you win, I’ll give you a holiday and buy you whatever you want to eat!”
Meow!
The originally dazed cat girl’s eyes immediately sparkled upon hearing that she could eat whatever she wanted, and without thinking much, she bent her legs and dashed forward like a blur, then her sharp claws glinted as they sliced through the air.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
In an instant, they exchanged three moves.
Lulu Meow’s petite figure was sent flying backward and landed on the ground with a thud. She mewed plaintively, looking at her dirty dress, and her eyes immediately flashed with a trace of fierce light.
She was angry.
Meanwhile, the high-level monk who had just fought her looked astonished as he stared at his chest, where faint traces of blood were left on his arms, chest, and abdomen. The enemy’s attack was not enough to threaten his life, but the speed was astonishingly fast. As a monk with a powerful perceptual ability, he could hardly keep up with her attack rhythm. Although he ultimately managed to send the cat girl flying, he was still scratched on the chest.
What kind of monster is this!?
The high-level monk’s expression turned serious. He clasped his hands in a fierce tiger pose, his gaze locked on the petite and delicate cat girl in front of him.
Even a high-level monk with the ability of 【Gale Attack】 could not keep up with her attack speed; the cat girl before him truly possessed combat power to challenge him.
Vivian wore a playful expression.
It seemed she had full confidence in the next fight, appearing as if victory was already assured.
