Chapter 84: Mind Sorcerer
A force beyond description erupted from behind.
Soren’s expression changed instantly as he picked up the little dragon beside him and activated the acceleration spell, his whole being darting away like a fleeting shadow. As one of the few top wanderers who had encountered the Spider Queen in the Underdark, Soren had taken on many commissioned tasks while mingling among the Drow. Perhaps due to his high accrued reputation from these commissions, his name gradually reached the ears of the Spider Queen, forcing him to accept a troublesome, high-difficulty mission.
“Is that… the Spider Queen?…”
The expression on the little dragon’s face was also a bit panicked. As a giant dragon, she had easily progressed to the legendary domain, but everything that had just happened shattered her past confidence. Perhaps, in her eyes, mortals seemed as weak as ants, but in reality, weren’t they also merely ants in the eyes of certain beings?
Soren slowly nodded.
Then a familiar power surged, bringing back several memories of past encounters with the Spider Queen displaying her divine might.
—”Life and d*ath! [Divine Ability]”
—”Hand of d*ath! [Assassination Divine Profession]”
As a top wanderer who had faced divine incarnations of saints in direct challenges several times, Soren knew all too well the terrifying power of veteran deities.
In comparison to a terrifying existence like the Spider Queen, legends are merely inconspicuous specks of dust.
There are many records regarding the fall of the Arcane Empire, but there has always been a conspiracy theory suggesting that their downfall was due to them threatening the rule of the gods. The power of the Grand Archmages was exceedingly strong, and their research delved into the realms of the divine, leading to their overnight annihilation for certain reasons. During the era of the Arcane Empire, their influence spread across the entire multiverse, with an estimated number of legendary professionists in the millions. Conspiracy theorists believe that no one but the gods could eliminate so many legendary professionists at once.
Deities.
Soren was exploring a realm that surpassed the imagination of mortals.
In theory.
Deities are unbeatable, at least not defeat-able by mortals, for that is the rule set by the gods. Throughout long history, the falls and transitions of deities have been due to internal conflicts, with instances of mortals slaying gods numbering fewer than the fingers on one hand.
If it weren’t for the Saint’s Cataclysm. A deity with only weak divine power could wipe out a group of legendary professionists without a trace.
“Deities are nearly invincible in their divine kingdoms.”
“In the realm of the gods, a [Shape Change], [Reality Change], or [Size Change] divine ability is enough to easily transform your body into any form they desire to see.”
“For non-divine beings, certain deities who possess divine professions related to d*ath, slaughter, and destruction can directly erase their lives.”
“Deities are immune to most negative conditions and always take the maximum value in saving throws.”
“Only saints can k*ll deities in saintly form.”

………………
Far away on the battlefield.
Just as the Spider Queen’s figure vanished, a blurred, twisting shadow quietly retreated.
“Failure!”
“The Spider Queen’s divine power is too strong!… We mistakenly estimated the Spider Queen’s strength based on the power of the God of Half-Elves and Wanderers!… Even though we increased our own strength nearly a hundredfold, the gap between us is still too massive!… The battle plan has failed; only one remains from the Godslayer tactical team.”
“The demiplane coordinate seems to have been locked by the Spider Queen!… Requesting assistance from the Astral Floating Tower for retreat!…”
“I must return to the City of Imprints. I need to bring the news back to the Non-Deity Church.”
The shadow quickly disappeared into the darkness.
………………
On the other side.
After putting enough distance between them, Soren finally slowed his pace somewhat.
He looked at the little dragon in front of him, his expression serious: “Things have exceeded our expectations! If the Spider Queen has appeared, then we probably can’t stay in the Underdark much longer.”
The Saint’s Cataclysm.
Engaging in god-slaying actions before the Saint’s Cataclysm begins is an act that would definitely incite the wrath of the Spider Queen. A terrible purge is likely to soon sweep across the Underdark, at least before the Saint’s Cataclysm fully erupts. The Spider Queen will need to vent her anger properly. Currently, the gods sense something, but no one knows exactly what is coming!
Soren is likely the one who understands the content of the cataclysm the best.
In a sense, this should be his only clear advantage over many deities!
No one knows the specific timing of the Saint’s Cataclysm. The intensity of the outbreak and its scope of influence remain uncertain. Even the gods resisting the chaotic energies can only vaguely speculate in a general direction. Thus, during this time, there have been many probing actions—not just gods testing gods, but other powerful organizations are also probing various targets.
Everything that happened today.
Soren has no previous memory of it, meaning this event occurred before other adventurers entered the Underdark.
Though he isn’t quite sure what background the professionists who attacked the Spider Queen have, he can generally guess they have a significant connection to the Arcane Empire, as the entire operation plan seems quite ‘science fiction,’ and all of it requires the tower spirits from the Arcane Empire era to perform the massive tactical calculations.
This fighting style is something Soren has encountered before, but it has never been as frightening as today!
Had their target not been the Spider Queen, they might have already succeeded. Any deity below medium power could potentially be defeated by such a level of god-slaying tactics. Unfortunately, they chose the wrong target, selecting the Spider Queen, who is already at strong divine power and wields extensive divine professions and domain powers. He isn’t surprised; after all, the Spider Queen is notorious for attracting fire, and her enemies have long been in the countless.
Even back when she was merely at [Medium Divine Power], during the war against the queens of spiders, the Spider Queen Rosé had already been soloing against the entire Elven Pantheon.
No surprises here.
If the Spider Queen weren’t so incredibly powerful, Soren wouldn’t have seen her turn and flee.
As for why someone would think to assassinate her, Soren is unclear on that as well. In his memory, only a handful of beings would take such risks and harbor such great hostility towards the Spider Queen.
For example, the Non-Deity Church, a certain exploratory organization in the Astral Realm, or some powerful faction he doesn’t know about.
(Note: Before the establishment of the Drow Pantheon, the Spider Queen often faced the Elven Pantheon solo. As a goddess adept at using schemes, she would also seek powerful allies.)
………………
“The Spider Queen!…”
The little dragon murmured with her head down. Ever since encountering that initial incident, her mood seemed to have dwindled, as if lost in thought.
However, at this moment, Soren had no time to ponder so much.
The battle they initially faced was terrifying! He feared that under such tactical assaults, he wouldn’t even last a single second. As for the Spider Queen withstanding all the attacks and then fiercely counter-killing, Soren felt no surprise. In the current state of the Saint’s Cataclysm not yet fully erupting, unless several other strong divine beings worked together, it is fundamentally unlikely to k*ll her.
Many tactics seem strong but are useless against certain existences.
Just like how someone once attempted to k*ll the seemingly less powerful Succubus Queen, but when they truly intended to take action, they found that even the ‘Alluring Beauty’ aura couldn’t be bypassed. In the end, the Succubus Queen casually activated her field of ‘Fallen Desires,’ and the group began engaging in shameful play they viewed as a lifelong disgrace.
………………
Up ahead, some light emerged.
Strange luminescent plants were growing nearby, but as they got closer, Soren’s expression changed, and he placed his hand on the hilt of Icebane. A figure appeared before them, lying on the ground. Judging by the outline, it should be a female, her exposed skin looking very pale, and her face obscured by a veil made it hard to discern her features. However, on her body, Soren spotted a somewhat familiar mark, and his heart sank as he murmured, “Godslayer organization?!”
Mind Sorcerer?
When Soren turned the female figure over, both he and the little dragon beside him were taken aback, exchanging surprised glances.
The little girl slightly furrowed her brows, glanced at her, and said, “She’s almost dead!”
Soren nodded slowly.
Yes.
She is almost dead!
A mighty mind sorcerer, possibly exceeding level 30, was easily eradicated by the Spider Queen.
Soren opened her wrist and saw a dark blue mark resembling a black widow, murmuring, “Assassination Divine Profession. Trickster Domain. It’s the curse of the Spider Queen!…”
“She’s basically beyond saving.”
Since the war against the Queens of Spiders advanced to her strong divine power, the Spider Queen Rosé has been eyeing other powerful divine professions or corresponding divine domains.
Trickster Domain.
Few who are cursed by the Spider Queen manage to survive.
“Sigh.”
The little dragon slowly looked over the nearly extinguished mind sorcerer, saying, “Unless a deity grants her new life, she is basically dead now.”
Time froze.
When Soren heard her words, his eyes suddenly sparkled with a flash of insight.
It seemed he had thought of something!
