**Chapter 103: The Awakening of Soren**
Soren’s mind has been quite chaotic during this time.
Not only was his brain continuously receiving faith from the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers,” but more importantly, each prayer from the believers made him feel an overwhelming will interfering with him. This was a powerful force of will, stronger than the will of the Demon God of Fear he fought against before, because it was the complete will of a deity. Although the God of Half-Elves and Wanderers was dead, he hadn’t completely perished, as many of his believers remained in the Material Plane.
The believers were praying.
However, they were not calling out Soren’s name, but the name of the deceased deity. At this moment, Soren, as the successor and vessel of the divine profession, was receiving this faith, but he was also rejecting it. This force conflicted within him, and the remaining divine will was making a final desperate struggle. Every time a prayer occurred, that will grew stronger, forcing Soren to expend more power to resist it. In the end, Soren almost completely lost his perception of the outside world; his spirit, will, and thought were all battling the pervasive prayers of faith, and the frenzied counterattack of the divine will that accompanied them.
This was a struggle.
A struggle between deities. Without interference from others, Soren could have gone mad for a long time like other deities did during their crazed periods. (Note: Like the Dark Day’s mad period.)
Ultimately, the victor of the collision of wills would decide everything! (Note: The struggle between Arthas and the Lich King.)
Soren did not believe he would lose.
In fact, his will could not lose. The true influence on him came from the divine faith, as the information contained in this power was simply immense.
There was a forbidden spell from years ago.
It was called “Kasas’s Investiture of the Gods,” a twelfth-circle spell, the most powerful spell in history!
The Grand Archmage Kasas used the power of this spell to overthrow the first generation of the Goddess of Magic. He then seized her divine power, temporarily transforming himself into a divine form. But then, something unforeseen happened. Kasas, possibly one of the most powerful Grand Archmages in history, actually self-destructed under the enormous divine power information of the Goddess of Magic. This ultimately led to the end of the Silver Era, and the collapse of the magic network directly destroyed a glorious age.
No matter how mortals praised the power of archmages as being comparable to the gods, there is one thing that cannot be changed: deities can only be compared to, but hardly surpassed.
Kasas should be the most brilliant yet most tragic Grand Archmage in history!
The realm of the deities.
It was also at this time that the exploration began.
………………
Breath.
Intense breathing.
Soren’s whole body was completely drenched in sweat, yet his eyes gradually became clearer.
The pain was receding.
The 0s and 1s dancing in front of him were gradually returning to normal; the currents in Soren’s brain had weakened considerably. After the extreme pain, it seemed to trigger a new domain, allowing him to feel a wondrous and inexpressible mental power.
If one were to use a metaphor to explain everything at this moment.
Soren, who had received the divine profession of the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers,” was like a computer. After various enhancements and his own training, his brain’s computing ability had become remarkable. However, this remarkable operational ability, when coming into contact with the “Faith Network” designed to serve several deities above the magic network, suddenly brought Soren’s brain close to collapse, as if a computer were about to burn out its CPU. Yet, under these circumstances, because of the believers’ prayers, the will of the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers” actually launched a counterattack in its dying moments, one can imagine how immense the pressure Soren was under at that time.
The magic network is just one part of a large network!
Above the nine layers of the magic network, in the realm where legendary spells operate, there is an even more powerful “Faith Network” that serves the deities.
The twelfth-circle spell “Kasas’s Investiture of the Gods” from years ago came into contact with this realm.
But as this Grand Archmage self-destructed due to being unable to bear the divine power information from the Goddess of Magic, the second generation of the Goddess of Magic entirely sealed off the magic network above the nine layers, directly transforming it into a Faith Reception Network, thus providing convenience for the many deities. Simply put, the “Faith Network” was made into a shortcut to grant divine techniques.
Soren’s state was quite similar to that of the Grand Archmage!
That Grand Archmage was directly blown apart by the immense information and divine power of the magic network, while Soren was in contact with the vast information of the “Faith Network” belonging to the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers,” and was in a state close to madness.
Insufficient computing power!
The divinity level could not bear the connection brought by massive prayers of faith, and Soren’s spirit could not withstand the calls of thousands of believers.
More importantly, the calls were not for him!
Kasas, who might be the most powerful Grand Archmage, directly exploded, but Soren was still within a bearable range.
Because the Saint’s Cataclysm is about to arrive.
Whether the lower-level “magic network” or the higher-level “Faith Network,” both would decline with the onset of the Saint’s Cataclysm. At that time, the gods could only connect with very devout believers, rather than just responding to the call of a name like now.
Deities have this ability.
“The Holy Name [Divine Realm]: Within His temple, altar, statue, etc., or when spoken by His believers, any objects related to Him or individuals who utter His holy name can enter the perception range of the deity within one hour.”
This is the reason for Soren’s pain.
It is also why many people do not easily speak the divine holy names!
………………
Soren was like a primitive computer, directly connecting to a vast network of the interstellar age without sufficient external programs [Divinity]. In an instant, the frenzied information almost drove him insane. As someone who had just entered a super-era network, Soren had not even figured out how to disconnect from the network when his will was greatly challenged.
And at that moment.
The Mind Sorcerer appeared, pulling out Soren’s network cable and cutting off all faith connections.
Soren temporarily detached from the deity’s “Faith Network.”
Not in contact with the realm above the nine-layer magic network gave him a moment to catch his breath, and his spirit gradually began to recover. With the loss of the faith connection, the will of the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers” rapidly weakened and was wiped away by Soren in an instant. Then came everything that happened in Leaffall City, all the statues of the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers” lost their power, some even cracked and collapsed.
He was already dead.
Soren completely took over His divine duties but temporarily did not take on His believers.
The reason was simple!
The Holy Name.
The believers still called out the holy name of the original “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers,” whereas now, Soren needed to use a new holy name, one that belonged to him alone, to respond to their prayers and answer their calls.
The statues had become mundane objects.
But the temple serving the “God of Half-Elves and Wanderers” still retained divine power. If the believers were smart, they would notice this.
Because if even the divine profession disappeared, then the temple should have no power at all!
………………
“Hmm! What happened to me? Am I too tired? Did I fall asleep all of a sudden?”
The noble girl shook her head and crawled up from the carriage. She looked up and saw a pair of men and women sitting in front of her. Her expression seemed a bit astonished, then as if she gradually remembered something, she asked in confusion, “Did I sleep for a long time? Why do I feel like I’ve forgotten something?”
“Um. You slept for a little while,” the masked woman smiled and nodded.
The noble girl rubbed her forehead and mumbled, “Really? It seems I really did fall asleep.”
She glanced at the two people in front of her.
Everything seemed not much different from her memories, as if nothing had happened; the only difference was that the man’s gaze seemed much brighter. She looked at him and inexplicably felt a desire to worship.
The girl shook her head, putting aside this strange feeling. When she looked down at the carriage, she shuddered.
A bronze furnace.
On the bronze furnace brought in by Sir Eden, she noticed five clear fingerprints had been left there at some unknown time.
