Chapter 108: Half Good, Half Bad

Author: Floating Tower
The room was quiet.
Vivian lay peacefully on the soft, velvet-covered bed, her small hands crossed over her chest, resembling a princess from a fairy tale. Upon seeing Vivian’s tranquil sleeping posture, Soren’s gaze softened, to the point that even his overall demeanor became gentler. The others in the room were all perceptive, and Gloria’s eyes grew complicated as she watched Soren sitting at the bedside, gently caressing Vivian’s silky long hair, unable to discern what kind of emotion it was.
Even though they had become so close, the most important thing in Soren’s heart was probably still the Vivian before him.
The Fallen Witch reached out and held her daughter’s hand, but she did not speak. Gloria turned to glance at her mother, her expression gradually calming down as she subtly shook her head, as if to say she didn’t mind. Women are always prone to desire more, but she never thought of competing with a little girl; perhaps she was simply feeling sentimental.
“How long has she been sleeping?”
Soren stood up, unaware of when his expression had turned serious, and placed his hand on Vivian’s pale forehead, closing his eyes to sense something, murmuring, “Has there been any sign of her divine power going out of control this time?”
Gloria didn’t understand what Soren had discovered but still softly replied, “It has been seven days.”
“There hasn’t been any abnormal behavior this time; she has been sleeping quietly, with no signs of her power going out of control.”
Hearing this, Soren furrowed his brows and whispered, “Is that so?”
As if she had also noticed something, a faint glow of spell light appeared in the Fallen Witch’s eyes. She then took a step forward and murmured, “The demonic aura around her is becoming more and more evident!…”
The Fallen Witch.
As a witch who had traded with the Succubus Queen Mikanxute, she was no longer of pure human bloodline. So she could sense more than Gloria. Soren, as a demigod and Son of Slaughter, was already intricately linked to abyssal demons, so when he made his discovery, she also noticed the anomaly. The demonic aura surrounding Vivian was increasingly pronounced, and although there was no sign of divine power going out of control, that did not necessarily mean it was a good thing.
Soren fell silent.
His divine perception seemed to have made him intuitively aware of something. Thus, his expression grew solemn, a hint of worry crossing his face.
The Fallen Witch moved closer to Vivian.
She gestured to Soren, seeking permission to touch Vivian’s forehead. Once granted, the Fallen Witch leaned down and pressed her forehead against Vivian’s, and immediately, her whole body trembled slightly.
Thud, thud, thud!
The Fallen Witch staggered back three steps, her face ashen. When she saw everyone’s gaze fall on her, she muttered in a low voice, “Bottomless Abyss!…”
“The stronger the power within Vivian, the closer she gets to the Bottomless Abyss!…”
The worst fears of Soren had finally come true.
As Vivian inherited the divine power of Fear, the pull from the Bottomless Abyss became stronger.
The transfer of the Vampire Son’s power had significantly enhanced her as the vessel for the resurrection of the Demon God of Fear. If the situation continued to deteriorate, Vivian might be directly summoned to the Bottomless Abyss. Among the notorious beings, some of the most powerful Sons of Slaughter were simply summoned into the Bottomless Abyss.
Vivian’s power was drawing her closer to the Bottomless Abyss, and this closeness did not create any substantial spatial distance, so Gloria couldn’t sense it at all. But Soren, as the Son of Slaughter and a demigod, could feel it, and the Fallen Witch, who had also traded with the Succubus Queen, could sense it too. This was because they all bore the breath of the Abyss.
Soren fell into deep thought.
He gently stroked Vivian’s silky long hair and turned to glance at the others. Slowly, he said, “You all can leave for now.”
“I will find a way to handle this.”
The Bottomless Abyss.
For mortals, it was an extremely terrifying place.
But for Soren, it was just one of the most dangerous places he had ever been! Vivian’s transformation made him realize one point: although he had dealt with the Vampire Son, removing one of the biggest troubles in the material plane, he had also caused a significant gathering of Fear’s divine power to concentrate on Vivian.
This meant that he would confront the Demon God of Fear sooner than he expected!
The task of the Demon Son of Fear was initially one of mutual slaughter. The Vampire Son replaced the Fear Witch Lilian, who was supposed to awaken in Amber City, slaughtering many Demon Sons of Fear. Although there might still be some survivors, the concentration of Fear’s divine power was considerable. Reinhardt’s investiture as the Vampire Deity altered the original resurrection timeline, but once he was eliminated by Soren as a significant threat, the resurrection process of the Demon God of Fear had been corrected back.
The divine power returned to Vivian’s body as the true vessel!
Soren did not know how much time he had left.
But he had a strong premonition that his schedule to the Bottomless Abyss had been greatly accelerated.
The only variable was!
Whether he would go to the Bottomless Abyss before or after the Saint’s Cataclysm started. If it were before the Cataclysm, the difficulty of confronting the Demon God of Fear would increase dramatically. But if it were after the Cataclysm, then Soren’s chances of defeating Her would rise to at least sixty percent!
Vivian’s power could not grow any stronger.
As a child, all of her power was like water-lilies on shallow water, which was exactly what the Demon God of Fear desired, for only then could She easily snatch that power back!
Otherwise, how could She take away the power acquired by the Son?

“You all can leave now.”
Soren sat by the bed, gently gazing at the sleeping Vivian. He turned to look at the others and softly said, “I want to be here with her alone for a while.”
Gloria and the Fallen Witch exchanged glances before turning to leave the room.
Soren sat at the foot of the bed, gazing at Vivian’s small face. He gently caressed the little girl’s cheek, then leaned down to kiss her forehead lightly, murmuring, “Don’t worry.”
“Brother will always stand by your side. No matter what difficulties arise, I will face them with you!”
A faint smile appeared at the corners of the little girl’s mouth.
It was uncertain whether she could hear Soren’s words, but she should have sensed his presence.
Time passed, second by second.
Soren sat quietly by the bed, watching the little girl before him, occasionally reaching out to stroke her silky hair. His eyes gradually regained their calm. When he got up to leave the room, Soren’s gaze returned to its former coldness. He took one last look at the sleeping Vivian and felt a strong killing intent rise within him as he whispered, “The Demon God of Fear, huh?”
“No matter who it is! Anyone who poses a threat to Vivian must die!…”
……………
Three days quickly passed.
The return of Soren finally alerted others; priests from the Temple of Wealth and the Ocean Church came to visit him, and he also met with the agent left here by the Agricultural Church. Soren had not anticipated that the fertilizer he devised would attract the attention of the Agricultural Goddess’s priests, but since such an opportunity arose, it was only logical to seize it. He was unsure how much he could alter the future now, but every little bit counts; perhaps miracles could happen in the world.
Soren had many matters to attend to.
There were some new discoveries in the Shadow Plane, but breaking through the defenses of the Wizard Tower was still somewhat challenging. Soren was worried about the attack from the arcane crystal pulse cannon.
He needed to cut off the energy supply to the Wizard Tower to safely enter!
Information from near Leaffall City had been sent over; the Half-Elves had not been faring well lately, facing attacks from Half-Orcs, Werewolves, and Ogres. The other races nearby looked on coldly at the plight of the Half-Elves. Because in this tumultuous time, many deities had fallen into slumber, and they did not want to expend their power elsewhere.
Soren pondered the intelligence for a long time.
Ultimately, he temporarily set it aside, planning to revisit it in a few days; the foundation of the Half-Elves would not be exhausted so quickly. He was a lawful evil individual, very much aware that adding embellishment was not as good as providing timely assistance. He was waiting for the opportunity to gain the greatest benefit to arise.
Evil perhaps had that one advantage.
