Chapter 51: Chess Dimension!
Every day in Modo is a new day.
Although the earthquake last evening worried many, by the next day they returned to their usual lives.
In the residential area south of Modo, men began to prepare tools for work, while women started cleaning and handling household chores. As the initial tense phase passed, skilled Half-Elves quickly reached the living standards of ordinary people. As a result, women who initially served as laborers were liberated, and physical labor was entirely taken over by men and slaves, leaving women free to do tasks like sewing. Born with dexterity, the many daily necessities crafted by Half-Elves, while not reaching the standards of Elves, were much more exquisite than those produced by humans.
It seemed that Modo was about to have a new profitable product.
The Southern Coast region was wealthy; prosperous trade had enabled many coastal residents to achieve a decent standard of living. With surplus grain, they naturally sought more in terms of food, clothing, and housing, and the products made by Half-Elves were certainly far more refined than those made by humans.
Steven leisurely walked towards the military camp.
Having brought his partner to Modo, he had now moved into his own room.
The woman was diligent.
Having just moved in, she had already tidied up. With a woman to warm his bed at night, he naturally preferred not to stay in the all-male military camp. He was now considered part of Modo’s wealthy class, and with a significant amount of military merit accumulated, Steven had exchanged some land. However, the cultivated land was still too expensive; half of his land remained uncultivated, and he planned to hire people to clear it next half of the year.
His partner brought along a few children.
Having drifted at sea for much of his life, now in his thirties, Steven’s mindset had stabilized considerably. He planned to spend some money to teach these kids a trade; there was always a need for apprentices in the blacksmith shop. It wouldn’t be an issue for someone of his status to arrange an apprentice. In the future, if they learned a skill, a qualified blacksmith could easily settle down. The other children also had their own paths; the less capable could learn to farm, potentially managing land outside the city, while the more talented could be trained to become professionists.
In a few years, he hoped they could make him a guard in Modo.
Steven wanted a child of his own, so to avoid disputes among the children in the future, he prepared their paths early on. If they didn’t work hard and couldn’t make it, they wouldn’t have the right to blame the heavens or others.
In front of him was the Defense Station.
Steven quickly changed to a serious expression, adjusted his clothes, and hurried into the meeting hall.
Soon.
An order was issued; the defense forces in Modo were to be doubled. Though the reason was unknown, he just had to focus on completing his tasks diligently.
In Modo, the most important thing was to fulfill one’s duty; only in this way could one gain promotion!
………………
Shadow Plane.
Soren gazed at a spatial rift before him, his expression unusually serious, for he felt that this was an exceptional semi-plane.
Although a gap had been opened, Gloria did not rashly enter.
The plane rift was merely a rift; it might close up. Therefore, the most important matter right now for her and the Fallen Witch was to expand it into a teleportation corridor that could be traversed freely.
Only by preparing an escape route could they avoid being trapped inside.
A semi-plane was like a small world!
Even deities couldn’t safely ignore any existing dangers. Soren had to use his divine power to open a dimensional channel when they established the teleportation portal.
“It’s about to begin!”
Before Gloria was an incredibly complex teleportation magic circle. She exchanged a glance with the Fallen Witch next to her and then said to Soren, “We will establish a teleportation beacon to complete the plane positioning of the portal. What you need to do is stabilize the dimensional channel.”
Soren nodded to acknowledge his understanding.
Strings of Spell Light emerged. The mysterious magic circle on the ground gradually lit up, and soon a spatial passage appeared before them.
Now was the time!
Soren’s figure floated up, and the divine power manifesting the Power of Laws was infused within; in an instant, a dimensional channel opened, connecting the wizard tower in the Shadow Plane and presenting the semi-plane at the heart of the Maze before their eyes.
What could be seen was like a mirror.
On the other side of the portal was an incredibly vast platform. Soren frowned as he glanced over it and murmured, “This semi-plane seems a bit strange!”
Gloria came to his side and whispered, “Yes. A multi-layered semi-plane; it looks like a pyramid structure.”
“This is something only those with exceptionally high semi-plane creation skills can accomplish.”
“Indeed.”
“The former master here was quite remarkable!”
………………
Before them was a multi-layered semi-plane.
It resembled the Hell of Bartok; this was a complete plane, but Hell of Bartok had nine layers of space. Now, the semi-plane that Soren saw through the portal was similar, a complex multi-layered pyramid plane structure. To create such a semi-plane, it required a powerful spellcaster, as it involved slicing through space; one must grasp and comprehend a part of the Power of Laws.
The structure of the plane was bizarre.
Overall, it looked like an inverted pyramid; one could feel the vast space within, and it had its own plane rules.
Plane rules.
Simply put, some planes have high gravity, while some have low; some environments are uninhabitable for ordinary life, while others suit all creatures.
This is the rule of semi-planes!
One must comprehend the power of rules to create a complete plane.
This was a massive undertaking, even for a legendary spellcaster with a lifespan of over a thousand years; it was something that required half a lifetime of effort.
Elements, space, gravity, environment…
Everything needed to be controlled and adjusted by the creator of the semi-plane, overseeing the transformation from a small space to a vast world. The energy expended in such a process was almost unimaginable!
Even deities could only draw from the external world and couldn’t rely solely on their own strength.
“Let’s go in and take a look.”
Soren turned and nodded at the two beside him, while Gloria swiftly cast a protective spell and then activated the portal.
Combat could occur at any moment.
Every semi-plane had its guardians, as these were the most precious treasures of spellcasters!
………………
Everything before them shifted.
Soren’s figure appeared on an incredibly vast platform, the area being quite substantial, with strange stone pillars on the ground, each seemingly having its own pattern. The construction of this semi-plane was quite similar to that of the Material Plane, indicating that its creator had refined it for a long time. The most apparent characteristic upon arrival was that any action required considerably more effort; the gravity here was close to 1.5 times that of the Material Plane.
“The power of the Earth Element Plane is dense.”
Gloria closed her eyes to sense it, murmuring, “The energy supply for this layer is mainly maintained by the Element Pool, and there are clear signs of elemental interference.”
The Fallen Witch stepped forward and added, “The gravity here exceeds that of other planes and is likely affected by the Earth Element Plane.”
Planes have their own characteristics.
The Earth Element Plane is notoriously heavy; in some places, gravity can reach tenfold, even affecting the divine incarnations of saints.
A semi-plane requires elemental power for balance; if the balance is disrupted, it will lead to various characteristics.
Perfect balance is akin to a world like the Material Plane.
If a deviation occurs in any aspect, as in the case of the semi-plane before them, gravity has noticeably increased due to interference from the Earth Element Plane.
A light appeared!
Before Soren and the others, a faint teleportation light suddenly emerged, followed by a being whose upper body was metallic, while its lower body was a swirling vortex, resembling a Demigod Giant, yet it was actually the life form of an alchemical creation.
It gazed at the three before it, showing no obvious hostility, and slowly said, “Welcome to the Chess Dimension!”
“This is the world of the greatest card master, the renowned Archmage Miyadnock – the ace of the Arcane Empire, an improver and inheritor of the Chess Game!”
“Here you can challenge the highest difficulty of the chess game!”
“Here you can also gain unexpected treasures!”
“I am the Chess Commander – Tower Spirit 13! If you are ready to accept the challenge, please stand on the teleportation magic circle in front of me!”
……………… (To be continued ~^~)
