Chapter 54: Prayer Weaver
On the desolate plain, not much life could be seen.
A Coward Demon appeared on the hill, gazing into the distance. After standing still for a moment, it murmured to itself, “Multitasking is indeed not easy! With my deity-level operational ability, I sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable. No wonder other deities rarely descend in avatars. I wonder how those professionists who master true mirror images operate!”
Soren continued forward across the plain.
Soon, he encountered new enemies—a chaotic group of Coward Demons, who were busy eating.
Their food consisted of black rats and a pile of Abyss Worms.
Abyss Worms do not only spawn near bl**d pools; souls automatically transform into other forms after falling into the bottomless abyss. Many Abyss planes do not have bl**d pools, yet Abyss Worms still appear. These wild Abyss Worms are numerous, wandering across the desolate plain, with only a small chance of advancing into Coward Demons. Night Witches and Ghost Hags enjoy collecting these Abyss Worms as their faction is Neutral Evil, allowing them to transform into Coward Demons and Lesser Demons.
Low-tier devils, in the absence of minions, will expend a bit of power to turn Abyss Worms into the lowest-tier Lesser Demons.
Devils place greater emphasis on quality; Abyss Worms serve merely as alternative currency.
The unfamiliar kind soon caught their attention, and the Coward Demons, while eating, began to tear apart the corpses of the Abyss Worms, with some rushing towards Soren.
For some reason, they loathed this fellow demon that looked a bit devilish! (Note: Lawful Evil Faction.)

bl**d splattered.
Two Coward Demon corpses quickly fell before Soren. His insufficient base attributes prevented him from fully unleashing his powers, so he needed to k*ll more Coward Demons as fast as possible.
As he took down all the Coward Demons, a series of data prompts appeared before him.
A new round of mutations began.
Demon Power gathered around him, and soon a row of data displayed:
“Extract target Demon Bloodline!…”
“You gained 2 points of Demon Power!… Current physical body cannot absorb soul energy!… Soul energy transformation!… Feedback to the body: 30 points of Killing Experience!…”
“Demon Bloodline activated!…”
“Self undergoes evolutionary mutation!… Coward Demon form capability increased!… You acquired the talent ability [Demon Skin], gaining 5 points of Damage Reduction!… You acquired the talent ability [Dark Vision], 20 meters!…”

His skin became tough, and his vision pierced through the darkness.
The mutation into a demon was that simple. Soren still could not decipher the potential contained in the Demon Bloodline but was aware that it was quite mysterious knowledge even to deities.
Soren’s body turned dark red, and a glint appeared in his pupils.
“The power hasn’t yet reached the complete form of a Coward Demon!”
Soren glanced at the corpses on the ground, finding no weapons or valuable items, so he swiftly continued onward.
A portion of the soul energy was fed back to his body, but the proportion seemed quite low. It could only be said to be better than nothing.
After walking for a while.
Obvious footprints began to appear on the ground, indicating an increase in nearby creatures. Soren suddenly halted in his tracks and promptly crouched in the grass.
Ahead of him.
In the dimming daylight, a twisted figure materialized.

Wandering souls in the Bottomless Abyss, unlike the Prayer Weavers who enter the divine realm, many of the Prayer Weavers in the Bottomless Abyss were once vile beings in life.
Evil souls fell into the abyss. They did not turn into Abyss Worms.
Because many Prayer Weavers were professionists in life, their profession level might not be high, but it granted them significant power upon rebirth after d*ath.
A wandering Prayer Weaver.
He should have been a soul from the material realm since he had not been completely assimilated by the power of the Bottomless Abyss. He had now transformed into a creature known as a Manes.
The Manes before him had pale skin, black claws, sharp teeth, thin hair, and glaring white eyes. His face already showed signs of decay. He looked as repulsive as the undead, with many maggots crawling through the bloated flesh of the Manes. If he survived long enough, the power of the abyss would gradually assimilate him, and eventually, the Manes could possibly be “upgraded” to a lower-level demon, despite losing all memories of their past life.
The Manes retained a portion of their previous memories; they were wandering evil undead in the Bottomless Abyss.
“Manes [Prayer Weaver] (Second Tier).”
“Challenge Level 3. Personal Level 6, possessing spell-like abilities.”
“Highest attribute 18 points, lowest attribute 6 points, total attribute value 75-85 points.”
“Special specialties: Fire Resistance, Acid Resistance, Toxin Resistance, Lightning Resistance, Acid Spray.”
“Challenge Difficulty: C+.”

A wandering Manes.
The power it offered was sufficient for Soren to directly advance to the complete form of a Coward Demon.
However, Soren did not rush to attack, as he was currently just a low-tier Coward Demon. All his power was left in his body, and he only inherited the strong will power brought by the soul. If he died, he would pay a severe price. Merging himself into the abyss this way was already a gamble; he absolutely could not afford any mistakes.
He stealthily approached.
Without the level of a Wanderer, he could not gain the power of shadows, so Soren could only sneak up in the most basic way.
The smaller size of the Coward Demon provided him convenience, along with the inherent evasion advantage; after all, smaller creatures are harder to hit. He gradually approached the Manes before him and, in an instant, dashed forward.
Splash!
The sharp claws cut through the air like a glimmering dagger, instantly slicing open the Manes’ abdomen.
Demonic claws are equivalent to a +1 innate magical weapon!
A whistling wind sounded as the Manes retaliated in an instant; its rotting limbs swung down, devoid of weapons as it wandered the wilderness.

Soren’s body flew backward, but the injuries were not severe; the newly acquired Demon Skin provided 5 points of damage reduction.
In simple terms.
It was like an ordinary adult with average strength throwing a punch—he barely felt anything. This was a demon’s innate ability, and even the lowest-tier Coward Demon possessed part of it. With 14 points of agility, he maintained a speed advantage, circling around the Manes in a dance, and legendary battle experience made it difficult for him to be struck by the enemy, even with a significant attribute gap.
More wounds began to appear on the Prayer Weaver’s body.
Soren seized a fleeting opportunity, lunging forward to slash his claws like a dagger directly into the Manes’ eye socket, the sharp claws penetrating and then twisting around.

The Manes’ body collapsed.
A series of data prompts appeared before Soren:

Mysterious demonic tattoos appeared on Soren’s dark red body, a power beyond comprehension. Many demons bear such strange tattoos. This further strengthened Soren’s power while elevating him to the true standard of a Coward Demon. As the lowest tier of demon, Coward Demons also possessed many good capabilities, including Demon Skin, Demon Resistance, Summon Demon, Multiple Attacks, and some spell-like abilities.
Under such circumstances.
His Challenge Level rose to 2, requiring a team of Level 2 adventurers to confront him!
