Chapter One: Gurenba Arena! First Update
In this profit-driven land, all buildings are centered around the Gurenba Arena. On the left side near the flatlands is an open trading area, where shops run by Rosé, Ghost Hags, and Night Witches are located. On the right is the arena registration office, where various demons, evil spirits, and abyssal beings join the arena daily. To maintain the prosperity here, the demon goblin lord Miamid – Coin of Disaster uses high rewards to attract doomed demons, though it’s uncertain how many end up receiving their rewards.
Demon goblins possess far greater intelligence than their counterparts, and they have established a factory here, directly tapping into a volcano to extract magma. Many demons purchase weapons from here, but the goblins’ greed means they must empty their pockets to buy a suitable weapon. Due to their inherent instability, the products made by demon goblins often have various problems, and they are usually not as effective as those smuggled in by Night Witches and Ghost Hags from the Hell of Bartok. Thanks to the existence of laws, things seem somewhat orderly here, and most demons that come here learn to restrain themselves.
However!
On the roadside, there are still the corpses of some hanged demons, which are those who defied the law but couldn’t pay the hefty fines.
“What is that?!”
A look of shock appeared in Soren’s eyes as he looked up ahead and involuntarily stopped.
The nearby construct girl also grew quiet, not wanting to k*ll the ugly demons around but instead observing her surroundings with a playful yet suppressed destructive expression. This indicates that although she possesses a chaotic nature, she is not entirely foolish, understanding the consequences of causing trouble in a demon lord’s territory.
“Newcomer?”
A Night Witch with dark blue skin appeared in front of Soren, her murky yellow eyes glancing at him with a sinister smile as she slowly spoke, “This is Balroth Fire Demon – Noxsete!”
“It defied the laws of Lord Miamid – Coin of Disaster. Arrogant and disdainful of a demon lord’s authority, hence it was ruthlessly killed.”
“The corpse has remained hanging here for over twenty years!”
A giant corpse over three or four meters tall, with broad demon wings behind it. A pair of steel chains pierced through the wings and nailed to a massive stone pillar, with a terrifying wound on its chest. Its sturdy limbs are all pinned with dark red hooks, the demon horns on its forehead broken, and one eyeball gruesomely gouged out. The corpse of this Balroth Fire Demon is relatively well-preserved, seemingly having been subjected to magic, otherwise, it wouldn’t have hung for over twenty years and still look as if it had just died yesterday.
This is the demon lord showcasing his military might!
Using the corpse of a Balroth Fire Demon to tell any demon who comes here that since they are on his territory, they must abide by the laws he has set.
However, Soren believes the deterrent effect of one Balroth Fire Demon is insufficient.
If it were him doing such a thing, he would nail the corpse of an Abyss Dragon higher up in the Gurenba Arena so that it could be seen from a distance, creating a shocking sight that would definitely keep many demons in line. Not just hanging a single Abyss Dragon’s corpse but also displaying any legendary-level corpses in the future. Let’s see which demon dares to create trouble here.
“A newcomer who doesn’t understand the rules here will suffer greatly!”
The Night Witch let out an eerie cackle, making a gesture as if counting coins. She said in a low voice, “Perhaps you need some information. I am very familiar with everything here, but it requires a little payment.”
Clink, clink.
Soren glanced at her, casually tossing three disaster coins (Gind) over. The Bottomless Abyss has specific terms, and if someone refers to Gind in front of demons without calling it disaster coins, it could lead to minor troubles.
There are still some spoils.
As a mid-tier demon elite, Soren has a little stash of spoils. There are many places in the Bottomless Abyss where Gind is useful.
“Very well. What do you want to know?”
The Night Witch smiled, her murky eyes narrowing. She possesses at least second-tier strength, but such strength only allows her to do this kind of work in the Bottomless Abyss. If she wanted to engage in interplanar trade without high-level (profession level above 15) abilities, it would be tantamount to seeking d*ath!
Neutral evil spirits are all about profit.
As long as the price is right, this group can smuggle things even from deep within the Hell of Bartok. Buying information from them is completely normal.
Perhaps due to dealing with devils frequently, many neutral evil spirits tend to be quite trustworthy!
Next to the Gurenba Arena is the Lava Tavern.
It’s not easy for demons to get drunk due to their physical constitution; many spirits here are spiked, and even demons will be affected. Of course, prices are also rather steep.
The demon world is simple.
Those capable of entering the tavern are all mid-tier or higher demons. This is an important asset of Demon Lord Miamid – Coin of Disaster, with two succubus handmaidens branded with slave marks standing at the door.
All the waitresses inside are low-tier succubi!
Nearly every one of them has the mark of a slave, as the mainstream in the Bottomless Abyss is the slave system; many demons themselves are property of more powerful demons.
As property, they receive certain protections!
Succubi are a significant source of wealth in the Bottomless Abyss, so if anyone dares to harm or ruin these succubi in the tavern, they must pay a hefty compensation or face the crazy retaliation of a demon lord!
Clink, clink.
Ignoring the unfriendly gazes from other demons, Soren directly approached the bar counter, facing an alluring and seductive succubus imprinted with a slave mark on her forehead and wearing a slave collar around her long, snowy neck, he said in a deep voice, “I want to participate in the d*ath Arena challenge!”
Mocking laughter came from behind.
Many mid to high-tier demons openly laughed at him, as if mocking Soren’s overestimation of himself, because in the Gurenba Arena, the d*ath Arena challenge consists of consecutive matches, and ultimately even requires facing legendary-level enemies. If luck runs out, sometimes even giant monsters, mutated half-dragons, and giant species from other planes might appear.
The last champion of the d*ath Arena challenge had a hard time defeating other demons but finally died under the hammer of a mutated Frost Giant.
The whole person turned to mush!
They do not believe that Soren, merely a mid-tier demon, has any chance of surviving in the d*ath Arena challenge. (To be continued ~^~)
