Chapter 56: Incorporating the Church

To the north of Modo City lies a sheer cliff.
There used to be a significant Fishman Tribe living here, but due to the rapid rise of Modo City, these fishmen have long since migrated elsewhere. Now, a stockade has been established here with a fence, and outsiders rarely know what it is for. However, if someone inquires, they can still learn a bit. This is because a large amount of meat is transported here daily, mostly fish caught from the sea, although occasionally other types of meat are also sent into the stockade.
Today.
Filrid felt like his head was about to explode!
He is a Drow Warrior, but he also possesses some abilities of a Ranger. He has been busy with one thing: taming the captured bipedal dragons. The three bipedal dragons that were sent here at the beginning are almost fully tamed; although they cannot yet be ridden for flight, he has grasped some understanding of them. Initially, there were four bipedal dragons, one of which was Lady Vivian’s pet. It has now grown larger than an adult bipedal dragon, and Filrid has always wanted to know how the lady raised it, but arcane matters are full of secrets—who knows what methods she used?
Roars of beasts came from the sturdy cages.
Filrid felt he must request more manpower from above; otherwise, he would be too busy every day to keep his head straight.
“Quiet down!”
Filrid turned to the cage behind him, raised his whip, and struck. The velociraptor inside let out a low, painful roar but soon settled down.
It started with a few bipedal dragons, and then a batch of velociraptors was sent over.
Today, Modo City surprisingly sent him several enormous crows that were beyond imagination in size. It was evident that these crows were not creatures from the Material Plane, and they wanted to see if he could tame them, treating him as if he were a professional beast tamer. Although Filrid possesses the techniques for taming petrified lizards, those are creatures reared within the Drow. Tamers of something else require a complete reassessment of their habits and behaviors.
“Call Kendette over.”
Filrid looked at the velociraptor beside him, then turned to the shadow crow caged in another enclosure, and tiredly rubbed his head, saying, “I need to see the Warrior Chief.”
“With this little manpower, we can’t possibly handle everything; he needs to send me a few more people.”

Soren caught a juvenile shadow dragon.
Along with it, he also caught several shadow crows. Shadow crows are enormous flying birds that can hardly be seen in the Material Plane; they are only likely to be encountered in other planes. He wasn’t too concerned about whether he could tame them; for now, he would let the people below try. The indigenous taming techniques for velociraptors had inspired him. Modo City might as well take advantage of its geographical position; if they could tame this type of creature, they could find dinosaur species and lesser dragon species easily in the overseas islands.

Soren was studying the next step of his plan in his study when suddenly there was a hurried sound of footsteps outside. Shortly after, a thin young man arrived at the door, gently knocked, and presented a letter to him.
“News from Vivian?”
Soren reached out to take the letter, quickly opened it, and furrowed his brow slightly as he murmured, “Church of Fear?”
“This little girl doesn’t really intend to incorporate the Church of Fear, does she?”
The contents of the letter were quite simple.
For some time now, Vivian had been attacking the Fear Worshippers to protect the little girl’s safety and to further expand Modo City’s intelligence network. Soren had mobilized a significant number of personnel to assist Vivian. However, after demolishing some outposts of the Church of Fear, it seemed Vivian had started to incorporate those leaderless Fear Worshippers under the guise of the ‘Demon Son of Fear.’ Now, a new church’s outline was beginning to take shape. The people below dared not delay and quickly conveyed the news to Soren.
The Church of Fear was originally a mature church.
Although this church had received continuous blows—first being cleared of a batch of elites by the Vampire Son, then suffering heavy losses under Vivian and Soren’s attacks.
Still, it remains an ancient church with a long-standing legacy.
After Vivian dealt with the priests in charge of the church, she quickly gathered the remaining Fear Worshippers, and a new church’s outline subsequently formed.
“Is she also aiming for divinity?”
Soren gently rubbed his forehead, contemplating the potentialities, murmuring, “If she really plans to achieve divinity, just relying on these Fear Worshippers isn’t enough. At most, she’ll end up as a pseudo-god like the Vampire Son.”
Vivian’s actions completely followed Soren’s model.
While Soren developed his influence overseas, Vivian aimed at the Church of Fear, clearly preparing to incorporate the weakened church and develop it into her foundation.
Soren’s thoughts were always complex.
On one hand, he hoped Vivian would grow up quietly, away from danger. On the other hand, he knew that as the Demon Son of Fear, she must confront her fate.
That is, the Demon God of Fear has not completely fallen, and everything she must face will ultimately come to her!
Deep down, Vivian is as strong-willed as Soren, and this is probably the reason the little girl decided to leave Modo City. She did not want to rely on Soren for everything; she wanted to face her own destiny.

Soren’s index finger lightly tapped on the table as he murmured, “In terms of method, the Vampire Son’s way of resisting the Demon God of Fear is correct—first using the divine position of the Vampire to achieve divinity, and then gradually encroaching on other divine realms, ultimately seizing the divine position of ‘Fear’ to replace it. This process not only divides and weakens the power of the Demon God of Fear but also gradually increases one’s own strength.”
“The only mistake.”
“Is that Reinhardt is simply too impatient! He attained divinity as a pseudo-god, which created a distance between them at the very foundation.”
The difference between a true god and a pseudo-god is significant.
Looking at the Church of the Deity that Soren currently leads, everything has progressed on the right track. Although the dissemination of faith is limited to the overseas islands, it has not suffered the widespread oppression that the Vampire Son faced.
From an opponent’s perspective, the Vampire Son is actually a very formidable and cunning individual.
Unfortunately, his enemy is Soren.

Soren thought for a long time before making a decision, directly establishing a mental connection with the High Priest in the temple, and instructed, “Immediately send a group of priests to the Spearwind Hills; I need you to send people to help Vivian control the Church of Fear.”

Soren was preparing to assist Vivian in implementing her plan for divinity.
Ascension to divinity is a difficult process. He has put in so much effort to get to this point. If Vivian does not want to confront the Demon God of Fear as a ‘pseudo-god,’ she will need Soren’s help during this process. Relying solely on the powers of the Demon Son of Fear, it is nearly impossible to meet the standards of a ‘true god’—many things require proceeding step by step.
The first step.
Is to have Soren’s priests help Vivian perfect the entire church, converting the Fear Worshippers she has gathered into believers who serve the ‘Demon Son of Fear.’
This may require a bit of mental manipulation.
As for how exactly to operate it, Soren felt he should look for an opportunity to have a good talk with Vivian. However, if they could incorporate the Church of Fear, it would solve one issue in the Material Plane. Clearing out the Demon God of Fear’s worshippers in the Material Plane would seriously affect his strength, and Vivian’s danger would also significantly reduce.
The Saint’s Cataclysm is approaching.
Although the boundaries between planes have become much weaker, these boundaries still exist.
Most of the Demon God of Fear’s strength lies in the Bottomless Abyss, and his demon worshippers cannot easily come to other planes. By clearing out his influence in the Material Plane, his power will gradually weaken.
The Vampire Son did the same initially.
Had he not ended up dying at Soren’s hands, the Church of Fear might have been completely controlled by him long ago.
