In the Redridge Wasteland, to the east.
A small figure was moving swiftly, and everything in front was barren and dark yellow; even the weeds were not flourishing. Here, only goblins would wander, and even the gnomes found this place too desolate. On both sides of this wasteland were an iron mine and a copper mine, so it wasn’t entirely forsaken, and there were some towns scattered near the edge of the Redridge Wasteland. This area was nearing the eastern Gobi Desert, and due to the terrain, even the desert trade routes avoided this place.
Chouhou surveyed the surroundings and then quickened his pace.
While others preferred to use transportation tools during long treks, Chouhou had a peculiar habit; he liked to walk on his own two legs no matter where he went. As a wanderer, he believed this ensured his stealth. Although he appeared thin and weak compared to his peers, he far surpassed others in agility and endurance. He always believed that he had some halfling bl**d in his ancestry, which explained his short stature and his unusually thick soles.
Chouhou had a mission here.
As an exceptional wanderer from Modo, Chouhou possessed remarkable professional talent. After participating in the expedition against half-orcs at Leaffall City, Chouhou had greatly honed his combat power. As a newly promoted wanderer, he completed all reconnaissance tasks with an impressive record of twenty-seven scalps and was about to join the ranks of frontline wanderers. With his achievements, Chouhou could already enter Modo’s intelligence network and switch to a more leisurely position.
But he found those jobs too simple.
Deep down, he was still a young man eager for adventure, and he firmly believed that one day he would enter the Legendary Domain. To achieve that, merely doing easy jobs would not suffice.
Thus, Chouhou chose to remain on the front lines and set off immediately after receiving a task!
The autumn heat was intense.
However, Chouhou had a decent constitution and didn’t feel particularly fatigued. His destination was d*ath Valley, a place rumored to be haunted.
Ghosts could only scare ordinary people; for professionals, undead creatures were not much to worry about.
This trip was prompted by Modo’s intelligence system detecting some anomalies; incredible mutations had occurred in d*ath Valley, so the task of probing the specifics was immediately assigned to Shipwreck Bay, and Chouhou seized the opportunity.
In Chouhou’s mind, the best task would be to follow Lady Vivian, where he could participate in combat.
He was very close to d*ath Valley now.
This place once served as a battlefield, and in ancient times, it had experienced some terrifying mutations. As a result, no living creatures existed within d*ath Valley; not even weeds would grow, and naturally, wild beasts were absent. Occasionally, undead wisps would appear, and besides bored adventurers, hardly anyone would come here.
However!
When Chouhou arrived at d*ath Valley, he immediately noticed numerous signs of people nearby.
Many footprints were left behind.
As a skilled wanderer, Chouhou could even gauge the weight of those who had passed by based on the footprints. He soon noticed a group of druids ahead, one of whom radiated a distinctly dangerous aura.
The mutation in d*ath Valley had been reported.
Many people were likely to come and take a look, so Chouhou quickened his pace, stealthily surpassing the group of druids and moving ahead.
d*ath Valley.
Upon arriving, Chouhou was astounded.
This was not the legendary d*ath Valley at all. It was a vibrant and life-filled valley, overflowing with blooming flowers. Even though autumn had arrived, the valley still brimmed with vitality, and the air was so fresh that it gave a feeling of abruptly stepping from the city into the mountains, making one feel the essence of life and energy with every breath.
However.
Everything before him was so incongruous with the barrenness of the Redridge Plains. That jarring visual contrast left Chouhou feeling as though everything in front of him was unreal.
It was as if all of this were an illusion.
“A miracle!”
A druid’s exclamation came from afar. The high-ranking druid stared in shock at the flower-filled, green-grassed d*ath Valley, dropping to his knees as if in pilgrimage, saying, “This is undoubtedly a miracle of life! A gift of nature!”
A group of druids knelt down.
They seemed to be praying, as if sensing the power of nature.
Indeed, there was a force here, an indescribable vitality. It was precisely because of this force that a d*ath Valley that had been barren for over a century had now transformed into a paradise of flowers and greenery.
“Incredible.”
Chouhou circled around the valley and discovered that every part within was covered in green plants, but near the valley’s edge, the land remained desolate.
He quietly slipped inside.
Chouhou avoided the group of druids and ventured into the heart of d*ath Valley. In the center, he saw a depression that, despite being deliberately concealed, could not escape his keen eyes.
A considerable pit.
It was unclear whether it was formed by some object crashing down or due to other reasons.
Here, the vitality was at its peak.
Chouhou sensed something was amiss; after observing the surroundings, he murmured, “According to the intelligence system’s grading, this type of event should be at the highest level!”
“No, no, no.”
“This is truly a miracle! It has exceeded the grading scale of the intelligence system!”
“It must be reported immediately to Lord Soren.”
Modo has its own intelligence system. Over this period, many wanderer scouts had been deployed, and Soren, with his divine profession as a Wanderer, had a clear advantage in this regard. Today, Modo’s intelligence network was spread worldwide. Any abnormal occurrences would be graded and reported back, with the highest-level events bypassing all intelligence departments to reach Soren directly.
This is a miracle of life!
Chouhou didn’t know what force had transformed the once barren d*ath Valley into this valley of life, but he knew that the power that brought about this change had surpassed the secular realm, reaching even beyond the Legendary Domain. If he were to describe it, the only terms that could encompass what he witnessed were “miracle” and “divine phenomenon.”
