**Chapter Fifty-Nine: Soren’s Disguise!**
Death Valley.
This lifeless place for more than a century suddenly underwent such a stunning transformation. This incident almost completely bypassed layers of intelligence departments and was directly relayed to Soren through magical communication. When Soren saw the intelligence the next day, he took it quite seriously and immediately ordered personnel nearby in the south to be assembled and sent out to secretly probe for any information related to this abnormal event. He felt that this was not as simple as a miracle and might be related to certain deities who possess the divine profession of ‘life.’
The Divine Profession of Life.
In Soren’s understanding, such a significant alteration that transformed a place’s environment—turning a death valley that had been devoid of greenery for over a century into a valley of life—was beyond the power of legends and mortals. It involved the deities’ abilities of [Changing Reality] and [Changing Space], as well as any abilities related to life. Even Soren questioned his own abilities; even if he could change certain areas’ environments, it would be impossible to influence such a vast valley.
It could either be a miracle of nature or the power of a deity!
Miracles in nature do not occur without reason, and Soren considered the highest probability to be that a deity wielding the domain of life had descended from above.
It was still uncertain which specific deity it was, as the domain of life was widely scattered.
Just like the domain of [Death] being divided among numerous gods, there had been the God of Death – Naraku, the Undertaker, the Sleeper, the Racial God of Death, the God of Death from the Underworld, and even the Lich God who controlled the domain of death due to reasons concerning the undead. Similarly, the [Life] divine profession was also divided among many deities; just among those known to Soren were the Elven Goddess of Life, the Halfling Goddess of Life, along with the Agricultural Goddess and Mother Earth, who also wielded abilities related to [Life].
Life and Death.
These two divine professions had created too many deities, all of whom were incredibly powerful.
Any movement of deities was worth Soren’s attention.
Because a significant portion of the disasters during the Saint’s Cataclysm was caused by fierce confrontations between deities, it could be said that if a deity of medium divine power were to fall into the mortal realm and unleash their full power, they could easily destroy entire nations. Soren needed to monitor their movements and use this to determine the specific time of the eruption of the Saint’s Cataclysm and the intensity of its impending outbreak. If only one or two weak deities were to battle, the range of impact would be slightly smaller, but if two deities of medium divine power or higher were to fight, then the range of impact would be terrifying.
So far, Soren had not fully battled anyone. As a deity of weak divine power, if he were to engage in such a conflict, the destruction caused would be horrifying!
The entire southern and coastal regions would fall into terrible turmoil.
Likewise.
If other deities were to engage in such a situation, it would be quite similar.
Everything in Modo had now entered a proper track.
Soren only needed to plan for the future; other matters could be handled by the City Hall.
Although deities cannot move about freely in the mortal realm, Soren had never been to the Divine Kingdom. He had never enjoyed that almost immortal state, so he did not share the same panic about falling to the mortal realm like other deities. If not for such panic, the God of the Hunt – Mara would not be so eager to restore his strength, which led to his movements being exposed to Soren. Everything Soren had done so far involved risks; many times he danced on the edge of a knife, and death sometimes merely brushed past him.
The vast majority of deities that fell into the mortal realm.
Their first thought was that they had transitioned from ‘almost immortal’ to ‘possibly mortal.’
Thus, in the early stages of the Saint’s Cataclysm, many deities tried to gather their divine power to return to their divine kingdoms. Throughout the long course of history, there had also been instances of deities falling into the mortal realm, during which many attempted to return to their kingdoms. The former Goddess of Wealth sought to return from the Bottomless Abyss but was captured and imprisoned by the Demon Lord for a long time, leading to one of the most humiliating memories of her long life.
Many deities, including the Goddess of Magic, faced accidents during attempts to return to the Divine Kingdom.
The God of the Hunt – Mara likely feared changing from ‘almost immortal’ to ‘potentially mortal,’ which is why he was frantically trying to regain his divine power. Not just for self-preservation but also to find a way back to the Divine Kingdom.
During the Saint’s Cataclysm.
It was quite difficult for deities to return to the Divine Kingdom; many had attempted, but only one or two succeeded.
Unfortunately, those who managed to return did so too early and were immediately swept away by energy storms upon returning to the Divine Kingdom. The final fates of these deities were quite tragic—while others might fall into the mortal realm once and forget it, they fell twice, leading to a significant reduction in their power, making them prime targets for hunting.
Deities are very afraid of death!
In fact, the vast majority of deities are very afraid of death because, barring exceptions, it is difficult to kill even a weak deity who possesses a divine kingdom under normal circumstances.
Back then.
During the Abyssal Blood War, a deity fell, and this deity could not be resurrected after death, leading to their absence from the Abyssal Blood War. Even deific avatars were almost never seen.
The God of the Hunt – Mara undoubtedly fears death too!
They are like kings who should be the chess players controlling the board, but are now mere pawns in destiny.
Soren was once a pawn; although he now possessed the qualifications of a player, he had never enjoyed the treatment that ensured a player’s survival regardless of the state of the board. Therefore, Soren is the most adaptable deity to his own transformation.
No other deity could be more adaptable to a mortal saint’s state than Soren!
Inside the Half-Elf Temple.
Soren’s figure appeared before his statue, where he stood pondering for a moment before disappearing from that place.
When he reappeared, Soren had significantly changed; he looked like a rugged northern man with a fierce aura. His face appeared to be in his thirties, wearing an expression of ferocity, with a knife scar on his cheek, dressed in simple hunter’s attire, resembling an experienced hunter.
——[Change Form]!
This was the first time Soren used this divine ability; theoretically, he could become any form he wished.
Hunter.
This was the main source of followers for the God of the Hunt – Mara. Hunters of any race could potentially become his followers, as long as they were evil enough to provide the sacrifices that the God of the Hunt required.
Conspiring against another deity.
It was nearly impossible for Soren to rely on the abilities under his command, so this plan needed his personal involvement; if necessary, he would even expose his demon avatar to encircle the target!
