Chapter 112: Bat Demon Sea

It really isn’t the right time to study this.
Having finally entered the interior of the Wizard Tower, they still didn’t know what kind of things would happen next, so the most important thing right now should be to explore here as much as possible and figure out what is inside. Time should not be wasted. After signaling the others, Soren immediately took the lead and headed toward the second floor of the Wizard Tower. As a top-tier Wanderer, with three Sorceresses in the party, everything had to be led by him.
However, the problem wasn’t too big because while Soren was called a Wanderer, he was actually a Berserker.
“Be careful!”
The second floor of the Wizard Tower was very dark. Upon entering, he immediately waved to stop the three women behind him and said in a low voice, “There are traps here.”
The interior of the Wizard Tower was dangerous.
Most wizards would set very dangerous triggered magical traps inside the high tower, which could be a ‘Disintegrate’ spell or a ‘Finger of Death,’ in any case, no one would want to test their saving throw.
Crack!
Soren quietly approached the trap. As a deity holding the Divine Profession of Wanderer, his proficiency in disarming traps, which he basically hadn’t practiced much, had already surpassed 150 points; the divine power allowed him to easily handle most trap mechanisms. However, just as Soren disabled the triggered trap on the ground, a series of densely packed sounds resembling wings flapping suddenly emerged from the second floor of the Wizard Tower.
“It’s the Bat Demons!”
Gloria seemed very familiar with this sound and said with a serious expression, “A lot of Bat Demons!”
Bat Demons.
They were the most commonly summoned creatures by wizards, serving as guards within the tower, as experimental subjects, or used for extracting spell components. Bat Demons are not particularly difficult to deal with, with a challenge level around 3. For anyone present, it wouldn’t pose much of a problem.
However, when their numbers reached a certain level, it could be a bit troublesome.
Ten, twenty, thirty…
No one knew how many Bat Demons surged out of the darkness, and Soren suspected that this floor might have become a Bat Demon habitat.
—”Blizzard!”
—”Greater Missile Storm!”
—”Mind Thrust!”
The three Sorceresses unleashed their powers simultaneously. Accompanied by a torrent of spell bombardment, many Bat Demons fell to the ground, with at least over twenty Bat Demon corpses littered across the floor, and the remaining few stragglers were quickly dispatched by Soren.
Buzzing.
The eerie sound returned. Gloria’s expression changed slightly as she said, “There are Bat Demon summoning devices here, and it looks like there are many of them. We must destroy these devices. Otherwise, it will continue summoning Bat Demons until all the energy is exhausted.”
Shadows crept in.
Another thirty Bat Demons appeared in their sight.
However, this time the quality of the Bat Demons seemed much higher. Before they could approach Soren and the others, the Bat Demons had already begun to cast spells, and a barrage of colorful magical orbs rained down, along with Ice Bat Demons, Fire Bat Demons, Dust Bat Demons, and other special varieties. Faintly, there was even a Hell Bat Demon among the group, which had a challenge level of 7.
Bat Demons are common in many planes of the Multiverse, and their strength varies according to the characteristics of the plane.
If summoned continuously, some tricky varieties might appear.
“At least five Bat Demon summoning devices.”
The High Priest scanned the depths of the darkness and said slowly, “We better deal with them quickly, or else the number of Bat Demons will keep increasing.”
The others nodded in agreement. Soren said solemnly, “Each person take a direction, and let’s end this swiftly.”
After saying that, he shot out like an arrow, and where his blade passed, Bat Demon corpses fell one after another. The space on this floor of the Wizard Tower seemed even larger than he had imagined; it appeared to be at least twice the size of the first floor, which is unreasonable. The only explanation could be that the former owner of the tower had expanded this space with magic, forcibly enlarging the area of the second floor of the Wizard Tower, which explained the large area while appearing normal from outside the tower.
A strange glowing device appeared before Soren.
He saw an energy transfer conduit, similar to those in the Chess Half-Plane within the Golem Factory. Accompanied by a buzzing sound, a Fire Bat Demon was summoned. Soren directly slashed the Fire Bat Demon in half and smashed the entire Bat Demon summoning device with the hilt of his blade. With the device completely destroyed, Bat Demons stopped appearing from within.
A few minutes later.
Everyone gathered again in the center of the second floor of the Wizard Tower, and there were no more Bat Demons appearing.
“I saw a storage room on the left.”
Gloria glanced at Soren, lifted her fair finger to gently toss her long hair, and said slowly, “However, many things inside are already damaged. I found a few things in the box, but I still need to study them to know what they are.”
The Fallen Witch raised a small metal ring in her hand, her expression slightly excited as she said, “On the right side, there is a laboratory damaged by Bat Demons, and there are basically no good items left. But I still found this, an unfinished small Aokin levitation ring.”
The High Priest shrugged and said lightly, “The front has nothing.”
Soren nodded and said, “I didn’t find anything here either. Since we have explored this floor, let’s proceed to the next level.”
Upon hearing Soren’s words, Gloria’s expression was a bit hesitant as she said slowly, “I don’t have many spells left.”
“We only encountered one Tower Spirit level 7 from beginning to end. According to the level of this Wizard Tower, there might be quite a few Tower Spirits. The Chess Dimension has Tower Spirit level 13; if we calculate by that number, the enemies we encounter next may be quite dangerous.”
The Fallen Witch also nodded and said softly, “My spell slots are running low too.”
Spell slots are never enough.
Although the battles hadn’t been intense, both witches were maintaining at least three types of protective spells that were continuously effective. The most important thing for wizards is always to ensure their survival, so deducting the actively effective protective spells and the instantaneous teleportation spells for emergencies, they could conserve spell slots enough for only two or three more fights.
From defeating the Tower Spirit level 7 to clearing the Bat Demon swarm, the two witches had already consumed nearly half of their spell slots.
“If only there was a Wish spell.”
Thinking this in his heart, Soren eventually nodded and said, “Then we’ll stop here for today. I will go check the situation on the third floor, and you all gather the loot so we can teleport back together next time.”
The Wizard Tower won’t run away.
Since only one Tower Spirit level 7 appeared, it was safer this way. Once both witches have fully recovered their spell slots, even if they encounter a Tower Spirit, there shouldn’t be any accidents. The spells they remembered were all comprehensive against various situations, meaning many spells wouldn’t overlap, so it’s crucial to take a break. (To be continued ~^~)
