Chapter 134: Disaster Descends!

Divine Profession, Divinity, Divine Rank.
These are the fundamental trinity at the level of deities, and without satisfying these three aspects, one cannot become a True God.
The group quickly returned to Modo City.
If possible, Soren still hoped to help Vivian achieve Divinity, so that she would be on the same level as the Demon God of Fear. Even if there was a power gap in a battle between gods, it wouldn’t be as fearsome as a god’s oppression over a mortal. However, the Divine Profession suitable for Vivian was a tremendous headache for Soren. Even if he were to willingly strip away his own Divine Profession to bestow it upon Vivian, the little girl would probably be unable to absorb and merge it.
Divine Professions must match one’s own conditions.
Just like how Soren is a Half-Elf and also a Wanderer, he can easily merge these two Divine Professions.
The [Tracking] Divine Profession, while not directly related, has a high degree of compatibility with him, allowing Soren to easily absorb and transform it.
If suddenly given a matriarchal Divine Profession, he would probably negate everything about himself.
There are still quite a few common Divine Professions.
However, there are also a number that are only suitable for males or females. Not wanting to turn into something like the Elven Deity, who at times appears male, at other times female, it’s best not to randomly merge with incompatible Divine Professions.
Time passed quickly, and a day had gone by.
With the arrival of the New Year, the atmosphere in Modo City became joyful. Even the usually serious and stoic Drow began preparing to welcome the New Year, with the others even more enthusiastic.
During this time, some outsiders came to Modo City.
Many of them were Bards, some serving as believers of the Goddess of Joy, while others were hedonists who worshipped the Goddess of Cats and Dance.
Festivals were their most vibrant time.
The wars on the continent had made joy increasingly scarce, and even as the New Year approached, many places felt no hint of festive cheer. Thus, these folks, in order to complete parts of the temple’s tasks, turned their sights towards more peaceful and prosperous areas. If one couldn’t fill their stomach, what joy could there be? The beliefs of these two goddesses were both founded on the condition of ‘having enough food leads to desires’. Without material conditions as a foundation, the doctrines of these two goddesses were simply a joke.
During this time, street performances in Modo City increased significantly, with various new programs emerging, greatly enriching the lives of its residents.
Of course.
The well-off residents of Modo City were not stingy; they didn’t mind tossing a few Silver coins for satisfactory performances.
There should be a holiday for the New Year.
The time wasn’t very long. Soren only planned to give them a seven-day holiday, with the army receiving three days and the guard office on break. A half-month before the New Year, these Bards had already arrived, and the tavern performances never ceased, while the streets showcased new and exciting magic or lively song and dance.
Joy might be nice, but indulging should be left aside!
Both goddesses were renowned hedonists. Their believers naturally shared this trait, yet Soren restricted the middle and upper levels of Modo City. He absolutely would not allow internal corruption fostered with hedonistic thoughts.
Noble balls?
Forget it.
Modo City had no nobles, thus didn’t need noble-style masquerade balls—merely a tool for the two goddesses’ church to infiltrate the ruling class.
Joy was something pursued only by those with no worries about food and clothing.
So in this period, ordinary citizens of Modo City indeed found a lot of pleasure. However, the higher-ups responsible for management still felt a tense atmosphere.
Soren didn’t want to sour his relationship with the two goddesses, but he also didn’t want to see them infiltrate his power.
This aspect needed attention. Because among the followers of the two goddesses were many attractive men and women, and Bards relied on their looks and charm for living. The beauty trap was certainly nothing unusual. Soren still remembered attending a noble-style masquerade ball where even the Priestess of the Goddess of Joy personally participated.
As for what it was all about, any man would surely understand.

Soren thought time would peacefully transition into the New Year.
But he thought too much.
Just a week before the New Year, a terrible disaster descended upon Modo City.
That day. It was sunny and beautiful.
It should be one of the few good weather instances during this time, with many citizens coming out to bask in the sun and wash clothes, looking just like any other day.
However, around noon, suddenly the sky darkened.
It became very dark.
Like a heavy cloud pressing down on the city, the wind howled, yet there was no rain, just no sunlight to be seen.
“Is a storm coming?”
Soren seemed to sense something, appearing outside the door, frowning as he looked at the sky. As the god safeguarding Modo City, he had a special sensitivity to everything here; any drastic changes, including the weather, would be perceived by him.
Everything looked normal.
But just when Soren assumed it was merely going to be a particularly severe storm, suddenly screams filled with fear echoed from the port area.
The guard team’s response was rapid.
Almost before the disturbance spread, lines of soldiers rushed to the port of Modo City, but once the leader of the guard saw everything clearly, he couldn’t help but swallow hard. This man, with the strength of a High-level Professionist, suddenly found himself drenched in cold sweat.
Ahead.
A massive whirlpool appeared on the sea surface, and then the seawater began surging upwards crazily, directly lifted into the air by a powerful suction.
Not far away was a medium-sized fishing boat.
In the blink of an eye, the fishing boat was pulled in by the enormous suction, disintegrating into pieces during the rapid spinning process, with the living people on board vanishing in the blink of an eye.
—Dragon Sucking Water!
A terrifying massive tornado was taking shape!
It was still some distance from the port of Modo City, yet it had already brought about dreadful disaster. Nearby fishing boats couldn’t escape the wind’s mouth in time and were torn apart in an instant. Not even a warship from Modo City could resist the terrible natural disaster’s strength, equally lifted and shredded by the tornado’s incredible tearing force.
The gigantic tornado was gradually approaching.
The fearsome winds made it hard to even stand. Its path was directly towards Modo City, and if it swept through, everything would likely be reduced to ruins.
……………………
Bardoff was a brave warrior.
Although he couldn’t take off his shirt in the tavern to show off his ample battlefield achievements like some people in Modo City, as a warrior who had made achievements during the naval battle at Fury Sand Island, saying he was battle-hardened would not be an exaggeration. However, this Northlander, who once boldly charged into overwhelming enemy ranks, now felt his legs trembling slightly, as everything before him was a force he simply couldn’t contend with.
This was a natural disaster!
He wasn’t afraid of enemies stronger than himself. He had risked his life to take down foes more formidable than him multiple times, but what he faced now filled him with a deep sense of helplessness.
The dreadful tornado was drawing closer!
When it passed over Modo Harbor, it could instantly destroy everything here; this was the power of nature, against which mere mortals could not stand.
Perhaps only deities could withstand such a terrible natural disaster!
Deities!…
A thought flashed through Bardoff’s mind, and the next moment he saw a sacred light ascending in the central square of Modo City.
This light shot straight up to the heavens!
Then a massive figure appeared in the sky, seemingly made of golden light, suddenly appearing over the port of Modo City.
The situation was so critical!
That Soren couldn’t afford to ponder how this terrifying tornado had formed; he absolutely could not allow the gigantic tornado to pass over Modo City, or else he would only be left to rebuild everything from the ruins.
—“Divine Form!”
In the central square.
The High Priest was personally presiding over an ultra-large prayer ceremony, with believers almost forcibly gathered together by the military. Waves of prayers echoed above Modo City, and the faith power enveloping the temple was being madly drawn by Soren, surging like a tide into his temporarily formed body.
A body completely crafted from Godly Power!
Though it still couldn’t reach a complete divine form, this was already Soren’s strongest state.
Only in the place where he possessed his temple could Soren temporarily enter this form, and it also required an astounding amount of Divine Power Value.
The giant tornado was getting dangerously close.
The wooden buildings near the port were easily torn apart. In the sky flew not only various debris but also the people unable to escape in time.
Soren at this moment had no energy left to save these people.
The enemy he faced was not one that could be killed with brute force; against such a terrifying disaster shaped by nature, he could only rely on the power at the level of deities to confront it.
Divine Power Value was being consumed furiously!
Even the power of the temple could not sustain Soren’s current divine form. In the face of this terrible super giant tornado, Soren could only gather all his strength to cast a divine-level spell.
—“Miracle Spell! (Legendary Divine Spell)”
—“Alter Reality! (Divine Rank Ability)”
Dazzling golden light enveloped the universe.
All the faith power from Modo City was madly drawn, instantly changing the colors of heaven and earth, even the surrounding space seemed sealed. The enormous divine power and the public’s faith converged, and the prayers of the believers echoed between heaven and earth. Soren became the vessel of this power, transforming all of his divine power and the people’s prayers into real strength, changing and distorting the reality before him with a divine presence, and in the overwhelming torrent of power, he forcefully crushed the super giant tornado in front of him!
Everything returned to calm.
If not for the debris falling from the sky and those bloodied corpses, everyone would probably think that the terrifying disaster that had just appeared was merely an illusion.
Cheers erupted.
The people who survived the calamity couldn’t help but burst into tears of joy, grateful for having safely passed through this terrible disaster.
……………………
Soren’s expression was unprecedentedly weary.
He could barely stand with Gloria’s support; the appearance of that dreadful tornado was so strange, as if he had sensed something, Soren suddenly looked towards the direction of the Amazon jungle.
“Flight Spell!”
Soren seemed somewhat exhausted at this moment. He said to Gloria beside him, and soon the two, connected by minds, soared into the sky.
The height was gradually climbing.
Everything beneath them grew smaller, and Gloria initially appeared somewhat confused, but soon her face was filled with shock.
The tornado!
Within their sight was a massive tornado, but far away from Modo City, ravaging far outside the island, tearing everything apart.
“Indeed!…”
Soren sighed and slowly said, “Let’s go down. I understand the reason now.”
Lord of Storms!
This ancient deity had ultimately succumbed to the energy storm; it seemed he had fallen to the mortal realm now.
