Chapter 142: The Savior – Sivenas!
Soren’s heart was actually very conflicted.
Because if the Goddess of Magic did not die, some things in his memory would change. This meant that Soren would lose part of his foresight ability, making it harder for him to grasp the future than it is now. If the Goddess of Magic does not die, some events in Soren’s memory may not happen, and the butterfly effect will affect the entire Saint’s Cataclysm. Even he does not know how the future will turn out.
This essentially means that Soren loses a powerful cheat!
However.
If the Goddess of Magic dies, the cost will be too heavy.
Once the Goddess of Magic dies, the Material Plane will truly collapse. It is not an exaggeration to say that thousands will lie dead. The population of the entire Material Plane will decrease by 90% by the end of the Saint’s Cataclysm, with at least hundreds of millions expected to perish. The devils from the Hell of Bartok, the demons from the Bottomless Abyss, the evil spirits from the battlefield and the Hell of Scorching Flames, will leave the world battered and bruised from the very beginning of the Saint’s Cataclysm. Many powerful spellcasters did not have the chance to adapt to a world without the Magic Network before dying at the hands of their enemies. In the end, the accumulated contradictions and hatred would not spare even the deities. Moreover, the vast souls plundered by the devils and demons during this cataclysm will have an extremely profound impact on the future.
In short.
If the Goddess of Magic does not die, the disaster level of the Saint’s Cataclysm will decrease, but the future will change, and Soren will lose his foresight abilities.
If the Goddess of Magic falls, the Saint’s Cataclysm will erupt normally. The Material Plane will be instantly devastated, and Soren will be powerless to save it, only able to hold on until the Saint’s Cataclysm ends, but he will still retain the advantage of foresight.
This is a question of whether to change history!
If Soren successfully saves the Goddess of Magic, although he will lose his foresight of the future, he will gain a close ally with Strong Divine Power.
One of the most powerful deities in the Multiverse, the Goddess of Magic will stand on the same side as him!
………………
The night was already very deep.
Occasionally, a barking dog could be heard outside the town. Although the soldiers of the patrol team were already very tired, they still forced themselves to stay vigilant. The situation for humanity had become increasingly dire. It was not only the human race that was struggling; in fact, many races were in difficult circumstances. It was said that some dwarf cities were completely sealed off, allowing no one to enter except for necessary trade. War had destroyed everything, and the wise lords would be loved by the people. Meanwhile, incompetent nobles faced the risk of civilian revolts at any moment.
The Goddess of Magic had stayed in Soren’s room for a long time.
She did not leave until dawn, and it was clear that her expression seemed a bit relaxed, indicating that her conversation with Soren that night was relatively pleasant.
After seeing off the Goddess of Magic, Soren’s expression was somewhat serious.
To be honest, the Goddess of Magic was surprisingly easy to get along with, lacking the rigidity of the good-aligned deities. Communicating with her allowed for a direct focus on the core interests.
Perhaps it was to integrate with the Shadow Magic Network.
The Goddess of Magic had shifted to the neutral faction, and the conflicts with Soren’s faction had diminished significantly.
To be honest, Soren had little confidence in saving the Goddess of Magic, but he felt he had to try, even if it might change the future. He would lose some advantages in foresight. Even if the Goddess of Magic fell a little later, it could allow spellcasters to withstand the first wave of the Saint’s Cataclysm, which would be a blessing for the entire Material Plane.
The Magic Network restricted the power of mortals, but it also helped the mediocre to wield power.
It is genuinely difficult to succinctly articulate the pros and cons of the Magic Network, especially while it still exists. At least in its presence, Soren could leverage it to grant divine techniques to his believers, significantly reducing the burden under the divine model. If the Magic Network were to completely collapse, Soren would have to give up about half of his priests, as just granting divine techniques each day would require most of his energy. The existence of the Magic Network can indeed be viewed as a super network of the interstellar age. As long as it exists, deities can use its power to distribute their divine techniques.
Ildis woke up very early.
Early in the morning, he went down to instruct the tavern owner to prepare a sumptuous breakfast, and then personally delivered it to the door of the Goddess of Magic’s room. He was quite experienced in this kind of flattery, and although he was the only mortal among the group, unaware of Soren’s status or the Goddess of Magic’s, he at least knew that Midnight was a powerful witch, and just a little guidance from her could help him improve his strength.
When Soren came downstairs, he immediately saw Ildis surrounding the Goddess of Magic, chatting warmly with her.
To be honest.
This guy should have quite the way with women; it was evident from the demeanor that only a seasoned player could pull off such an act. Unfortunately, the Goddess of Magic was more concerned about her own fate, and deities did not easily fall for mundane flattery, so his meticulous care and adoration seemed rather ineffective.
“Master Sony.”
Upon seeing Soren, Ildis noticeably restrained himself a bit, but his gaze towards the Goddess of Magic remained enthusiastic. Just a few words from her had made him feel as though he had deeper insights into the Magic Network, hinting that he was reaching for deeper understandings. It must be said that the Legendary Witch’s profound understanding of the Magic Network structure was remarkable; if she had not articulated some concepts, Ildis felt he might have spent over a decade grasping them.
He walked over to Soren’s side and seemed a bit embarrassed as he spoke, “The Lady Midnight has something very important she needs to do.”
“I think we should perhaps put aside the search for the Archmage’s Staff for now, and after helping Lady Midnight with her important task, we can go to that place; how does that sound?”
Ildis’s attitude was very sincere.
He expressed that Lady Midnight’s matters were more important, and they could temporarily set aside their own affairs, even the legendary artifact like the Archmage’s Staff, to help solve Lady Midnight’s issues first.
To be honest, this guy’s acting skills were really impressive.
If it weren’t for the fact that the Goddess of Magic had personally visited Soren last night, the words he just said would likely have garnered a lot of goodwill.
After all, a goddess is still a woman.
The display he put forth, regardless of its authenticity, easily earned him points.
Soren silently nodded.
This was originally part of the plan, but in front of Ildis, he still needed to act as if he knew nothing about the Goddess of Magic, and even their meeting could barely be regarded as a nod of acknowledgment.
“Thank you very much.”
Ildis made a great effort to display humility, and after receiving Soren’s agreement, he immediately moved toward Lady Midnight nearby.
In the morning hours.
The group set out towards the forest in the south. The Goddess of Magic’s destination turned out to be the legendary Misty Forest, which Soren had visited several times before, but he didn’t know what the Goddess of Magic was coming here for.
“We should first go to the Temple of Father Oak.”
Seemingly sensing the confusion of the two nearby, Lady Midnight spoke softly, “There is something very important to me there that I must retrieve first.”
Father Oak?
Soren found the name acceptable, but Ildis appeared somewhat puzzled.
After all, he was still too young.
As an ordinary mortal, Ildis might be quite unfamiliar with the name Father Oak, for this deity with strong divine power had fallen a long time ago.
However, Soren remembered this deity.
He even recalled His title — “Savior” – Sivenas.
Father Oak – Sivenas with Strong Divine Power!
One of the primary gods of the ancient Nature Deity pantheon, one of the most powerful gods in the Multiverse, revered as Father Oak, Father of the Forest, Father of Trees, and Father of Nature, among other titles.
This was a great deity!
And a benevolent elder!
In this world filled with gods, there are not many deities that Soren would give such high praise to, and Father Oak should be one of the few.
His true form was a giant tree.
Sivenas was a wise deity, nurturing like a father, dedicated to maintaining the balance of nature throughout the long years. Although people favored Mother Earth and her relatively gentle teachings, the vast influence of Father Oak had always overshadowed many areas of the Material Plane.
Such a powerful deity normally should not have fallen.
The circumstances surrounding the downfall of Father Oak are shrouded in mystery; perhaps even the gods themselves do not fully understand, but one thing is certain: Father Oak indeed fell to save the world.
This disaster is related to the fall of the Arcane Empire!
The immensely powerful Arcane Empire ultimately faced destruction, with the presence of the gods active during this terrifying disaster. No one has confirmed the true cause of the Arcane Empire’s demise, but the tragic end of the Arcane Empire has nonetheless brought profound impacts to the entire Multiverse.
It is similar to how, although the Saint’s Cataclysm has ended, the balance between the higher and lower planes has been disrupted.
The destruction of the Arcane Empire brought about the devastation of the entire Material Plane; terrifying energy radiation ensconced the skies and the earth. Explosions even more dreadful than nuclear bombs split the continental shelf. Just look at the horrifying desert regions of the Eastern Kingdom, and you’ll understand how terrifying this catastrophic demise truly was.
In fact!
As the Arcane Empire was destroyed, the apocalypse had already arrived.
Nature was gradually dying.
The entire Material Plane was desertifying at an astonishing rate. Terrifying energy radiation had eroded everything, causing not only countless deaths among races but also ensuring that even the plants of the natural world could not escape.
The apocalypse was approaching.
Even the gods could not prevent the arrival of all this, for the entire plane had already been corroded. The Material Plane might completely die at any moment, leaving no trace of life behind.
At that moment.
Father Oak stepped forward, leaving only one sentence — “Balancing nature is my mission.”
He then transformed into a gigantic life tree. At the time, desertification had already engulfed the central areas of the Material Plane, corresponding to what is now the Eastern Kingdom, where two-thirds of the land had completely succumbed to desertification, devoid of any signs of life. Father Oak transformed into a giant tree, merging with all of nature at that moment, sacrificing his divine form and powers in a relatively tragic manner to decide to stop this disaster.
Father Oak fell.
However, nature survived. The terrifying disaster brought about by the destruction of the Arcane Empire only turned two-thirds of the land in the Eastern Kingdom into desert; the entire Material Plane still had plenty of land suitable for all things to flourish.
It was also from that time that the Druid sect experienced a split.
The Arborists remained active in the desert for thousands of years, tirelessly establishing oasis after oasis. To express respect for these Arborists, people in the desert would even kiss the land they walked on. The Treants, therefore, fell into a deep slumber for several centuries, and it became increasingly difficult to witness their traces of activity.
These Arborists were once followers of Father Oak from the Druid sect.
They have been fulfilling Father Oak’s final mission of balancing and restoring the entire natural world. This mission has nothing to do with any race; whether human, elf, or dwarf, anyone who interfered with this mission would become an enemy to these Druids. Their greatest wish was to hope to transform the vast desert that occupies two-thirds of the Eastern Kingdom into oasis, as they believed that rejuvenating that land could potentially revive Father Oak.
Unfortunately, for thousands of years, they have only achieved less than one percent of their goal.
Long passage of time has gradually led to Father Oak being forgotten by the world, but there remain some beings who uphold their faith in Father Oak, and many Druids firmly believe that Father Oak did not completely die and hope to revive Him by some means.
Did Father Oak actually die?
Soren actually did not know, but he knew that the remaining temples serving Father Oak on the continent were deep within the forest, still shrouded in powerful divine power.
This ancient deity may exist in another form.
