Chapter Thirty-Three: Shadow Emperor – Soren!
Time Stop.
This immensely powerful Legendary Spell is the trump card of top wizards. For any mortal, a Legendary Wizard who occupies the first move has almost assured victory. During the duration of Time Stop, it is enough for a Legendary Wizard who has mastered the Mastery of Spellcasting to unleash a barrage of spells, while a Demigod Lich like Traitemdik can cast spells below the fourth circle nearly instantaneously. If he wishes, he can throw dozens of spells in a single breath to turn his enemies to dust!
Soren is frozen in place.
At least in the eyes of this Demigod Lich, this Legendary Wanderer who foolishly attempted to challenge him, despite not knowing how to reach the God of d*ath’s ruins, is now held in place by his spells. The time has been sufficient for him to cast several d*ath spells, and given the Wanderer’s pitiful saving abilities, Traitemdik doesn’t believe the opponent can pass through his d*ath spell checks.
As a tremendously powerful Demigod Lich, Traitemdik’s wizard level reaches 26, and the d*ath spells he casts are exceedingly difficult for even 30-level Legendary Fighters to resist—let alone the Wanderer, who wouldn’t even think to consider it.
However!
Long-standing caution has made him add a layer of insurance. He decides to use the spell “Wail of the Banshee” to eliminate the current enemy.
Because the Legendary Wanderer still has a chance to evade other spell attacks.
Soren is acting.
His long battle experience has finally allowed him, who once had only the most basic acting ability, to gradually step into the realm of Shadow Emperor-level acting. At this moment, he not only genuinely shows signs of being affected by the Time Stop but also reveals a hint of lifelike panic in his facial expressions and eyes. It looks as if he truly didn’t expect to be caught by the Demigod Lich’s Time Stop spell and is currently in a state of flustered confusion.
What a joke!
As a true god who masters the Divine Profession of Half-Elf and Wanderer, how could Soren be affected by the effect of “Time Stop”?
Even Demigods can largely resist the effects of “Time Stop,” let alone him.
What’s at stake now is acting skill.
Against a powerful enemy like a Demigod Lich, it doesn’t matter much whether Soren has a first or second move, as the opponent’s trigger spells are simply too numerous.
Dealing with such an enemy can only be done while catching them off-guard!
—“Wail of the Banshee!”
Sonic spells are the hardest to resist successfully. Among them, the Wail of the Banshee is the most dangerous one.
The Demigod Lich in front clearly wants to eliminate Soren once and for all, so he directly casts his trump spell!
However.
What Traitemdik never expected was that just when he thought the Legendary Wanderer was already immobilized and he could calmly unleash spells to obliterate him into ash, Soren suddenly revealed an intent to k*ll that seemed almost tangible in his eyes, followed by a flash of golden divine light. Soren’s figure abruptly lunged toward the Demigod Lich, and what followed was a slashing attack aimed at his head.
Clang! Clang!
The sudden attack forcibly interrupted the Demigod Lich’s spell, causing a backlash of magical energy. As an advanced mad mage mastering chaotic magic, Traitemdik had been constantly reinforcing himself with the spell “Chaos Shield,” but at this moment, he felt an inability to control his mana. Fortunately, all of his defensive spells recorded in memory activated, forcing a barrier of energy to protect himself.
A storm of attacks came crashing down. The energy barrier lasted less than half a second!
In that instant.
Traitemdik realized that his opponent was far from an ordinary person because ordinary mortals cannot resist Time Stop, let alone so easily break through his energy shield.
The curved blade struck against the Demigod Lich’s body, producing metallic clinks.
Soren’s vision filled with a series of data:
“Triggering Shadow Assassination!…”
“You dealt 12 slashing damage to the target!… You dealt 3 shadow damage to the target!…”
“Triggering Shadow Assassination!…”
“You dealt 9 slashing damage to the target!… You dealt 3 shadow damage to the target!…”
………………
Inconceivable tough resistance.
It was mentioned previously that a Lich, as a high-level undead life form, possesses astonishing resistance to any physical attack, and a Demigod Lich can even be immune to over 95% of physical damage!
Soren is currently in a complete burst state, with all kinds of enhancements activated. Even the weapon in his hand has been infused with divine power!
Yet even so, he could barely deal around ten points of damage.
It’s easy to imagine that other Legendary Professionists attacking him might only deal single-digit damage; the Demigod Lich’s immunity to physical damage is even higher than that of most deities. Furthermore, the Demigod Lich’s resistance to shadow energy also seems quite remarkable. Soren’s Shadow Assassination can add 18 points of extra damage, but now it has only accomplished 3 points of shadow damage.
It’s simply tragic!
Faced with Soren’s storm of attacks, the Demigod Lich had almost no chance to evade. His agility and reflex speed could never compare with a Wanderer like Soren, so he decisively chose the most effective tactic.
Teleport away!
The Demigod Lich instantly began to cast spells, using a short-range teleportation spell at an almost instantaneous speed. As long as he creates enough distance, he has over a hundred ways to k*ll the enemy before him.
However.
The teleport spell did not take effect.
—“Dimensional Lock [Divine Power Conversion]!”
When facing an enemy like the Demigod Lich, how could Soren possibly hold back on using his divine power? He activated the Dimensional Lock while launching his attack, sealing off all teleport spells within a twenty-meter radius.
—“Slayer Transformation!”
Under the relentless attack, the Demigod Lich showed no signs of entering a heavily injured state, and at this moment, Soren could only reveal his trump card and enter the long-unactivated [Slayer] form.
Crash! Bang!
Soren’s bones erupted with cracks. Since achieving the Investiture of the Gods, the number of times he has entered [Slayer] form has been minuscule. When he activates it, his appearance has already become completely different from that of a human, looking as if he is a half-demon!
Divine-level pressure surged forth.
The Demigod Lich’s complexion finally changed drastically, for it was then that he realized he faced a True God!
However.
He has missed the opportunity. Soren would never give his enemies any chance in battle.
—“Divine Power Shockwave!”
Since things have come to this point, Soren simply had no reservations. At the moment of transforming into a Slayer, an overwhelming surge of divine power erupted like a tide, forming a terrifying shockwave directed at the Demigod Lich before him.
Divine Power Shock!
This is holy damage that can ignore any immunity.
