Chapter Thirty-Five: The Book of Legends!
Soren was quickly cleaning up the battlefield.
The demigod lich didn’t have a lot of valuable items, only three pieces of legendary equipment.
There was a damaged robe, a staff that accelerated spellcasting, and a ring that looked somewhat familiar. The first two items were of no use to Soren and would likely only be brought back to Gloria to see if they could be repaired for her use. The reason the ring looked familiar was that it resembled the Lich’s Ring Soren had obtained before, but the spell light on it was much stronger, indicating that the demigod lich had performed multiple enchantments on it.
Aside from that, the rest were some miscellaneous items.
However.
For Soren, the truly valuable stuff wasn’t these; he quickly entered the lower level of the underground ruins and found himself in a massive laboratory.

What Soren found was another set of low-level combat mage hand techniques.
They were—Bigsby’s Assisting Hand (First Circle Spell), Bigsby’s Tripping Hand (First Circle Spell), Bigsby’s Assault Fist (Second Circle Spell), Bigsby’s Guardian Hand (Second Circle Spell), and Bigsby’s Disruption Hand (Third Circle Spell)!
Incredible.
Even Soren hadn’t expected that this demigod lich would have such long-lost spellbooks.
Why are there no combat mages nowadays?
That’s because all these low-level combat spells have been completely lost; the entry-level for combat mages was ‘Bigsby’s Protecting Hand.’ If you can use a five-circle spell, why bother with the path of combat mages?
First become a five-circle mage, then advance to become a combat mage and learn melee spellcasting skills from scratch—this is simply too foolish.
