Chapter 41: The Emergence of Artifacts
Soren quickly returned to the town.
However, he felt a bit regretful that the Alice girl, whom he wanted to impress, seemed to have left. This girl’s status was quite transcendent, and she probably didn’t stay here often, merely overseeing things from a distance. Moreover, this was just an ordinary town, which held little attraction for a Legendary-level Puppet Master.
But.
Surprisingly, Soren managed to glean some interesting news from the Tavern Dance Maiden.
It seemed that an artifact had emerged in the Eastern Kingdom.
The Flail.
A flail rumored to possess the power to effortlessly destroy other legendary weapons. The entire Eastern Kingdom was in a state of upheaval, with many factions searching for and competing over this artifact. However, no one knew exactly where the artifact was; they could only confirm that a very powerful artifact had indeed emerged.
“Flail?”
Soren momentarily froze upon hearing this news, as there were very few weapons like the flail among artifacts. The first thing that popped into his mind was the imperfect artifact fragment he had in his possession.
“Could it be the Time Flail?”
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed, for the Time Flail was one of the most powerful artifacts in the Material Plane and was notorious for its high armor penetration capabilities, possessing amazing destructive power against any equipment below artifact level. Because of its overwhelming power, the Time Flail had been disassembled multiple times and scattered across the world. The emergence of the Time Flail in the Eastern Kingdom was not surprising, as this was once the heartland of civilization.
“Could it really be the Time Flail? Should I try to seize it?”
Soren fell into contemplation.
The combat power of the Time Flail was no less than that of the Holy Avenger; it just wasn’t particularly suitable for Soren. Although he could use this artifact without difficulty with the help of Universal Skillful Hand, it didn’t quite fit his preferred weapon choices. However, the Time Flail was simply too powerful to pass up. Giving it up felt a bit regretful, especially since he already had one fragment.
Once he gathered three fragments of the Time Flail, its combat power would surpass that of most ordinary artifacts!
One flail head provided one type of elemental attack.
With three fragments, the Time Flail would simultaneously unleash three different elemental attacks. Even deities wouldn’t be able to defend against all of them, as this artifact was famed for its incredible ability to breach defenses. If he managed to gather five fragments, the Time Flail would then attack with five different elemental types simultaneously. Even against Legendary Professionists, this would deal nearly overwhelming damage.
Soren possessed the Tracking Divine Profession.
Theoretically, as long as he found traces related to the Time Flail, he could use his divine power to pinpoint the target.
During the Saint’s Cataclysm, artifacts were emerging one after another.
If Soren had two flail heads, finding just one more would grant him a Third Tier artifact.
This was an artifact!
Even if it wasn’t suitable for him, it would be too regretful to abandon it.
He felt a sense of reluctance.
After some thought, Soren decided to keep an eye on this matter; the destructive power of the Time Flail was astonishing. It was the only artifact he had seen thus far that could rival the Holy Avenger.
If possible, he wanted to find a way to seize it!
……………
Since Alice had already left, Soren had no reason to linger here. It was just as well to travel through the Eastern Kingdom and see if he could discover any ruins worth exploring that wouldn’t threaten his life. In addition, he needed to pay attention to news about the Time Flail; with so many people vying for this artifact, it would surely create quite a stir.
Taking advantage of the time he had left, Soren also identified the ring on the Demigod Lich.
To his surprise.
It was also an artifact, but merely a low-level First Tier artifact.
“Item Type: Ring of Gus【+1】
Item Level: 【First Tier Artifact】
Item Description: This is a ring crafted by a famous Demigod Lich. Later enhanced by other liches, it bears an immensely complex magic circle. It grants immunity to any toxins and diseases, while also providing immunity to most charm and mind control spells. This ring employs special alchemical techniques that enhance the capabilities of spellcasters, increasing their casting speed by one second for any spell cast.
Equip Requirements: None.
Equip Effect 1: 【Immunity to Toxins】. This ring possesses a special power that makes the wearer immune to any toxin attacks, whether they are poisons created through alchemy, toxins from nature, or toxic attacks generated by spells; the wearer is completely immune to the damage they cause and other negative statuses such as paralysis, incapacitation, rigidity, and so on.
Equip Effect 2: 【Immunity to Diseases】. This ring possesses a special power that makes the wearer immune to any disease attacks, whether caused by spells or infections; diseases cannot affect the wearer at all. Even the most fearsome plagues pose no threat to the wearer of this ring; any disease-related spells are ineffective against the wearer.
Equip Effect 3: Immunity to most charm spells and mind control spells.

Equip Effect 8: Enhances personal regeneration ability; base health recovery speed +1 per hour.
Equip Effect 9: Defense Level +2.”
……………
Wow!
Upon seeing the attributes of the Ring of Gus, Soren’s expression became a bit dazed.
Most lich rings in this world are similar varieties; to put it simply, lich rings are a kind of similar enchanting alchemical craft. The differences arise largely from the power of the lich who made them.
However, many of the base abilities are quite similar.
The lich ring Soren had previously obtained, which was +5 and had a cursed effect, offered many capabilities similar to this Ring of Gus.
However, the Ring of Gus was indeed more powerful, lacking the cursed effect and not decreasing his constitution, while additionally increasing the number of uses of ‘Greater Haste’ and granting an Eighth Circle Spell Slot.
There were no other significant differences.
This was essentially an advanced version of the lich ring +5, amplifying its effects due to the infusion of divine power.
“Never mind.”
“It increases my casting speed by 1, along with a Sixth Circle Spell Slot, a Seventh Circle Spell Slot, and an Eighth Circle Spell Slot.”
“If I include the blessings of the Goddess of Magic, I probably have more spell slots than a Legendary Wizard?”
The effects were still quite good.
Soren equipped it directly; as an artifact providing extra spell slots, the overlapping protection effects became ineffective, as this was an energy displacement force field that couldn’t be stacked simultaneously. The capabilities against toxins, diseases, charms, and so on were not very useful to Soren since he wasn’t afraid of these things right now. Fortunately, the extra casting speed and magic resistance would be beneficial.
If he acquired better equipment later, he could consider giving it to Gloria or the others to use.
