**Chapter 37: Wizard Tower Top Floor**
“Alarm! Alarm!”
“Intruder detected! … Intruder detected! …”
Unlike the last time, after Gloria and the Fallen Witch’s continuous infiltration, the power of the Maze has been significantly eroded. The Arcane Power Armor’s magical energy superconducting pulse cannon did not activate this time. It only triggered the intrusion alarm when everyone entered, yet no battle golems appeared. During the last exploration, Soren had cleared the golem hall on the first floor, where numerous golem puppets were destroyed and removed by him.
The Wizard Tower itself does not have a Golem Factory. Once this batch of golem puppets is eliminated, only a portion of the Tower Spirits would remain inside.
There were no enemies on the first two floors, but upon entering the third floor, Soren and his group encountered a large number of Dust Bats. Monsters of this level posed no challenge to them, and just a few spells took care of them completely.
The Wizard Tower’s interior seems to have repaired some facilities.
The third floor connected to the energy transmission pipeline, the fourth floor had some walls repaired, and the library underwent simple maintenance, but valuable books had long been taken away by Soren.
Soon.
The group reached the place where the previous exploration stopped.
—“Spirit Journey! [Nine-ring Spell]”
Here was a powerful energy laser passage, almost impossible to traverse on a physical level. Even a Saint form would struggle to withstand the damage because it was like a small magical energy pulse device. Gloria had long prepared the nine-ring spell ‘Spirit Journey’, transforming herself and the nearby individuals into spirit forms, allowing them to pass through the passage safely.
“I’m looking for the device that closes the passage.”
Soren glanced around, beginning to search for traps, then said, “Be careful. We may encounter the Tower Spirits next.”
The sixth floor of the Wizard Tower was not large.
As they ascended, the space inside the Wizard Tower became smaller. This floor appeared to be a large alchemical laboratory. Gloria discovered something resembling an ‘energy reaction device’.
It seemed that this alchemical laboratory was extremely high-end!
“It’s Arcane Power Armor! …”
The Fallen Witch seemed to see something, her eyes brightening suddenly, but then she shook her head in disappointment, saying, “Not fully completed yet. This is just a prototype.”
The Arcane Power Armor is used in conjunction with the Tower Spirits.
It looked somewhat similar to an exoskeleton device, requiring numerous magic circles to be inscribed; the number of energy nodes and spell circuits far exceeds other alchemical processes, essentially reaching the level of a superconducting dense circuit.
Achieving this kind of crafting process demands the Wizard’s brain to be as precise as a supercomputer, possessing a terrifying ability to simultaneously memorize and clarify thousands of spell circuits. This is beyond the imagination of ordinary people; for Archmages to accomplish this likely involves more than just talent; one aspect should be the immense role of the Tower Spirits, and another aspect may relate to their Meditation. This is because the meditation methods of Archmages seem to enhance both their brain’s computational and memory capabilities.
To put it simply.
A top student who can’t easily grasp ‘calculus’ is unlikely to become an Archmage.
This computational ability is sometimes breathtaking!
………………
The Wizard Tower appears to have nine floors.
To Soren’s surprise, they found no enemies on the seventh floor, nor did they encounter any Tower Spirits, and even some traps did not activate.
It felt as if the enemies were opening the door to welcome them in!
“That’s a bit strange.”
“Everyone be careful! The Tower Spirits might be waiting for us at the top floor!”
The Tower Spirits have a fundamental mission to guard the Wizard Tower, which they cannot resist; the current situation seems odd, making Soren feel a bit uneasy.
It was too calm.
In such times, greater calm often signifies greater danger.
Wizard Tower, seventh floor.
This floor seemed to be a lounge, but it was not for the Archmages; it resembled a lounge for their servants and concubines.
Because Soren unexpectedly saw a faded golden oak tree that had long since withered.
A Treant.
Moreover, it was a high-level Treant.
This oak tree was transplanted into the Wizard Tower, resembling a beautiful courtyard, with the pale golden oak tree in front. Behind it was an exquisitely decorated room, lavishly adorned, using a fine pink silk with white marble floor patterns. Beside it was a small fountain crafted with magical techniques. In the center stood a magnificent noble-style bed, surrounded by flowing pink curtains that appeared enticingly translucent, and to one side was a hall filled with numerous musical instruments, with many wardrobes behind containing various beautiful clothes, some revealing enough to make the two witches and the puppeteer girl blush after glancing at them.
These items crumbled into dust upon touch.
It was unclear how long they had been magically preserved; now they could only be admired from afar and not touched.
“The Treant has perished.”
The High Priest gazed at the withered golden oak beside him and said slowly, “This tree could still serve as a legendary-level spellcasting material.”
Even nature’s favorites, Treants, have a lifespan limitation.
This Wizard Tower has existed for over a thousand years, and almost no living person can be seen, but the room still retains its original appearance, with a few small rooms outside that should belong to the Archmage’s close servants or concubines.
It was previously mentioned.
Treants are beautiful and wonderful beings; they can rival Succubi in beauty but do not seek to exhaust the essence from their masters.
Thus, many legendary-level Wizards cherished Treants.
Archmages, for a long time, often liked to capture a Treant as their concubine. Such a fate for a Treant might feel like a canary in a cage, but powerful Archmages may not overly consider others’ feelings. In fact, although the Arcane Empire was strong, it was also very arrogant; if not for their attempt to encroach upon the domain of deities, such a magnificent civilization would not have been instantly destroyed.
This aspect has been similar throughout history.
The Silver Era was destroyed due to mortals’ attempts to seize the Goddess of Magic’s divine power, and the Arcane Empire mysteriously perished after touching the divine limits for some unknown reason.
For some reason.
Upon seeing everything in this room, both Gloria and the Fallen Witch couldn’t help but glance at Soren, their faces blushing slightly before quickly turning away.
