Chapter 47: King of the Deep Sea – Dagon!
Eastern Sea Route.
A fully armed warship was sailing on the calm sea, with two escort ships following behind, their masts displaying a dark flag.
Nearby the three warships, a massive shadow loomed.
It appeared as if a monstrous beast from ancient times; even just the outline evoked immense fear. This giant shadow moved beneath the sea, accompanying the three warships until it stopped near the entry to the sea, its spiky back partially rising above the surface, revealing grotesque barbs. At a glance, even legendary powerhouses would feel a sense of dread. This thing was over a hundred meters long, and its weight was unknown, but it had a gaping maw filled with sharp teeth, emanating an aura of extreme danger.
“Sister!”
“I can’t believe Modo City raises such a terrifying monster! No wonder they are nearly unrivaled at sea!”
A beautiful young girl stood on the deck, her gaze fixed on the enormous shadow in the distance, slowly saying, “I wonder if our decision to align with Lady Gloria is the right one!”
“I heard the Witch Council is already a bit displeased with us.”
The girl appeared quite young, seeming to be around eighteen or nineteen years old, but one should not underestimate the ages of witches, as they are a very special group.
“It’s fine.”
The response came from another girl, who looked about eighty to ninety percent similar to the first, making it easy to feel that they were twins, which indeed they were. The elder sister seemed much more composed; her eyes swept over the distant sea monster before she slowly said, “The resources from the Witch Council are no longer sufficient for our upcoming research.”
“Although the Eye of the North is still around, she has existed for a long time.”
“Modo City has now become self-sufficient.”
“The future achievements might not be any less than those of the Witch Council! The factions within the Witch Council are all intertwined, and our position as witches from the Necromancy faction has always been quite awkward!”
“With the chaos now approaching, remaining in the Witch Council holds little significance.”
“Before this journey, I met with the Eye of the North, and she is relatively supportive of our allegiance to Lady Gloria.”
Saying this, the sister-like girl waved her hand, “This ship is imbued with spell runes.”
“I can’t believe Modo City has started enchanting even ordinary warships. I wonder to what extent the legendary ghost ship has been reinforced.”
“I’m very curious about what other abilities a legendary ship turned undead would possess.”
The younger sister nodded in agreement, saying, “Yeah, I’m curious too. But it doesn’t matter. The Witch Council has never looked kindly on those of us from the Necromancy faction anyway.”
“As long as Modo City can provide us with resources, that’s enough.”
Necromancy.
This faction is considered quite special among wizards, and it is surprising that these two seemingly delicate twin girls are researching such a seemingly evil school of magic.
Both sisters have their unique characteristics.
In addition to their black witch robes, the elder has a black tattoo on her right earlobe, while the younger has a red tattoo close to her collarbone.
Each sister wore identical earrings, one on the left ear and one on the right ear, making them a pair.
In the distance, the outline of land faintly appeared.
The warship’s speed had clearly slowed down. At this moment, a person dressed as a captain emerged from the cabin; it was Old Sea Dog, the pirate leader under Soren. He cautiously nodded at the two witches and said, “Lady Witches!”
“Land is just ahead.”
“I was blown here by a storm last time; it’s an entirely new continent.”
A magical light flickered.
The elder witch began to levitate, glancing at the distant coastline, furrowing her brow slightly, “Is this the place?”
“The energy from the ley lines seems a bit unusual.”
“Sister.”
“I seem to have sensed a strong necromantic aura! No wonder Lady Gloria sent us here.”
The younger sister waved her hand, bringing out a peculiar crystal. After a moment of testing, she slowly said, “According to the testing crystal from Lady Gloria’s latest research, the energy radiation here is similar to that of the Overseas Islands.”
“If it weren’t for the energy protection from the temple…”
“Long-term residence could lead to mutations resembling those of the indigenous people.”
“Let’s go.”
“We’ll disembark first! You send people to dock the ship at the shore and have them move our things over.”
“According to Lady Gloria’s orders.”
“We need to establish a stable teleportation beacon here!”
Old Sea Dog did not dare show any pirate temperament in front of the two witches, knowing that these two newly promoted witches were trusted by Modo City’s mistress. The number of witches in Modo was on the rise. Although they rarely interacted with other management levels of Modo City, the pirate leaders understood that these witches held significant status. The last time he returned to Modo City, he received a secret mission, and they had been sailing for some time to reach this place.
The warship began to approach the shore.
Meanwhile, the ocean beast left behind in the shallow waters began to patrol; it was the master of Modo City, Soren’s pet.
Previously, it was stationed at Treasure Island, fending off sea monsters attacking Modo’s fleet, but that side had nearly been cleared of ocean beasts. Now, Modo City was unlikely to encounter naval battles, so it had nothing to do.
Recently, it was dispatched due to high-level adjustments in Modo City.
The dangers of the Eastern Sea Route were high, with various monsters lurking along the way, but thanks to its protection, many troubles were avoided. Old Sea Dog had personally witnessed it swallow a giant squid whole.
With this mutated orca around, the surface of the sea had nearly become lawless.
Upon encountering the Naga tribe along the Eastern Sea Route, they hardly dared to provoke this fleet!
…………
Modo City. Lord’s Mansion.
Upon returning to Modo City, Soren immediately handed over the mithril to Gloria; there was no rush concerning the artifact armor, as it could wait until the High Priest handled the stone-skinned grey dwarves.
Now that the Lord of Shadows had appeared, there was much he needed to prepare.
Messages from the elder princess came quickly. However, since she had to remain in Arendelle, she would only personally teleport over to assist when Soren encountered a battle.
How to deal with the Lord of Shadows was a dilemma!
However, Soren didn’t have no approach at all; killing this deity had only two particularly difficult aspects.
One was to find Him.
The other was to seal His ability to move within the shadow plane.
As long as these two conditions could be met, Soren would have over a seventy percent chance of killing Him.
“Shadow Thief!”
Soren’s mind drifted back to memories that he didn’t have much of regarding shadow thieves. What he had to do now was sort through his memories to extract any information about them, preferably find their lair as well.
The Lord of Shadows’ movements were elusive.
He was always hiding from the Lady of the Night; the shadow thieves were the secular powers He controlled. If Soren could locate the shadow thieves’ lair, perhaps he could use the Divine Profession of Tracking to pinpoint the Lord of Shadows’ coordinates.
With tracking in hand, the world is mine!
Soren’s greatest reliance now was the Divine Profession of Tracking. The Lord of Shadows did not dare to confront him directly, fearing the power of the Tracking profession.
Depriving Him of His stealth and concealment abilities would reduce His power by half.
Tap, tap, tap.
Gloria’s figure appeared outside the room; she glanced at Soren, who was frowning in thought, gently poured a cup of tea, and placed it in front of him. She softly said, “Is it about Shipwreck Bay?”
“Do you need me to divine it? There should be a way to find clues about the shadow thieves!”
Soren lifted his head in response and immediately shook his head, rejecting, “No need! I don’t require you to divine anything! A mere shadow thief can’t stymie me!”
“You mustn’t casually divine right now.”
“The Saint’s Cataclysm has disrupted the threads of fate; the cost of predictions at this time is greater than you imagine!”
“Do not use it again in the future.”
Gloria gently lifted her long hair from beside her ear, nodding obediently, “Understood.”
“By the way.”
“Old Sea Dog has sent information back. The teleportation beacon has been established.”
“There is indeed a new continent.”
“However, the continent seems a bit special; the witch I dispatched said the energy from the ley lines is a bit unusual.”
New continent?
Soren looked up at her. Slowly saying, “Is that so?”
“Have them establish a base first; Modo City currently doesn’t have the energy to focus on the new continent. However, you can dispatch a portion of golems there for guarding.”
“Once things are resolved here, we can send people over to take a look.”
A new continent.
Last time Old Sea Dog returned, this matter captured Soren’s attention, but Modo City was currently somewhat stretched regarding exploration of the new continent. All he could do was send someone to scout it out.
Things need to be done step by step.
Currently, the limitations of the Overseas Islands had begun to emerge; Modo City’s expansion was nearing its critical point, and any further advance might encroach on the interests of the Amazons.
These were tough opponents!
Amazons from the tropical jungle were considerably more formidable than indigenous people, especially since they had the backing of the powerful Lord of Storms; Soren did not plan to confront them directly.
Thus, it was essential to layout plans in other areas.
“By the way.”
Gloria seemed to remember something, softly saying, “News has come from Taro Port. They say the Storm Temple’s recent movements have been unusual; it seems several legendary-level Lords of Storms have appeared.”
“Traces of demons have begun to appear along the Southern Coast.”
“The Naga tribe in the deep sea has also suffered significant losses! The Naga Royal Family has been forced to submit to the Ocean Goddess for aid, and it is said many devilfish have appeared, along with followers of Dagon.”
Dagon!?
Has this Demon Lord finally made a move against the Material Plane?
Soren fell into thought; the Demon Lord Dagon was an Obsidian Demon, the King of the Deep Sea of the Bottomless Abyss, ruling over the 89th layer – Shadow Sea.
This Demon Lord had long sought to interfere with the watery domains of the Material Plane, and conflicts with the Ocean Goddess had never ceased.
“Are there traces of the Son of Dagon?”
After thinking for a moment, Soren said, “Once the base is established on the new continent, immediately have the mutated orca return.”
“If Dagon intends to invade the Material Plane…”
“It will definitely need it to deal with those demonized ocean beasts!”
Gloria shook her head, “Not currently.”
“Most of the assailants are aquatic demons, but recently there have been sightings of swamp giants to the south.”
“It seems Dagon’s followers have extended their tendrils to the surface.”
“The Ocean Goddess is also developing believers in the Southern Coast; it is said a group of refugees has been absorbed by her, currently settled on the coastline north of Fury Sand Island.”
Soren nodded and then asked, “What about the Duchess of Red Dragon’s movements?”
Gloria smiled and said, “The Rosad Duchy is currently embroiled in internal strife; for the time being, there shouldn’t be any danger to us. However, it seems there are shadows of demons around her, and many nobles from the Rosad Duchy have recently fallen at the hands of lust demons. We still need to be cautious.”
Demons!
Lust demons?
Soren seemed to recall something and murmured, “It seems she’s indeed in some dealings with that Demon Duke. Lust demons? Could it be Glacia?”
“Mm!?”
“The daughter of Asmothiels?!”
Soren suddenly jolted!
Immediately, a stream of information surfaced from the depths of his mind, and he finally recalled who the demon behind the Duchess of Red Dragon was.
——The Lust Demon Queen – Glacia!
Demon Duke of the 6th layer of Bartok Hell, daughter of the Lord of Hell, Asmothiels, a newly emerged Greater Devil, and currently one of the most active demon lords in Bartok Hell!
“I see!”
Soren suddenly seemed to understand something, slowly saying, “No wonder! No wonder!”
“It turns out to be her!”
Several unintentional clues connected seamlessly, and Soren grasped the links behind the Duchess of Red Dragon!
However.
If she was indeed backed by the Lust Demon Queen – Glacia, then dealing with her would be a headache.
Because pulling weeds brings up the roots, getting involved with the Lord of Hell is a significant trouble!
The rise of the Lust Demon Queen – Glacia is entirely controlled by Asmothiels; He made his daughter the newly promoted demon lord of Bartok Hell, clearly plotting some kind of conspiracy.
Since her promotion, Glacia had always wished to prove her strength.
Now that she had extended her influence into the Material Plane, she was undoubtedly scheming, and it certainly wouldn’t be anything good for the Southern Coast.
“Got it.”
As if thinking of something, a malicious smile crept across Soren’s face, slowly saying, “You send someone to secretly relay the news to the Church of the Lord of Radiance.”
“No need to explicitly state the connection between the Duchess of Red Dragon and the Lust Demon Queen; just inform the Church about the demons.”
Demons.
Dealing with these types of enemies is far too troublesome!
Soren thought for a moment and still felt that it was better to let the Lord of Radiance handle it! He felt he was quite clever!
He needed to give himself a thumbs up.
