Chapter 75: Legendary Team!
The God of Slaughter was active in the late period of the last turbulent year.
At that time, the Material Plane was filled with many Sons of Slaughter, all of whom were descendants of the God of Slaughter, Baal. The most powerful among them rose from Candlekeep, slaying gods and demons alike, and ultimately killed his way directly to Baal’s throne. This Son of Slaughter was the final victor, and throughout this legendary adventure, he acquired a vast amount of immensely powerful equipment, including artifacts like the Holy Avenger, the Staff of the Archmage, and the Star of Daylight.
According to the normal historical trajectory, this Son of Slaughter should have inherited the divine position and become the God of Slaughter.
However, what no one expected was that this Son of Slaughter chose to destroy the entire Baal’s throne and then opted to retreat as a mortal.
Soren greatly admired such a person, but he would definitely not make the same choice.
The Bodean set was one of the sets of equipment collected by the Sons of Slaughter at that time. This set was related to the legendary pirate Bodean, and many secret rumors remained after the turmoil of the Sons of Slaughter.
“Pirate Island?”
“Magic Suppression Prison?”
Soren stared at the map before him, as if remembering something, and murmured, “I think I know where this is!”
“Who would have thought it hasn’t sunk yet.”
The explosion during the Arcane Empire directly caused the movement of land plates, and the continents of the world gradually shift over time, albeit very slowly. Even the continental shelves of Earth have undergone significant changes. The destruction of the Arcane Empire led to many lands sinking, and the current Overseas Islands are a result of this catastrophe altering the geographical structure.
“Should we send someone to explore?”
Soren fell into thought. At the moment, he did not have the time to personally explore the ruins, and he had only recently ascended to Medium Divine Power and needed to familiarize himself with the operations of the Shadow divinity. Since merging with the Shadow divinity, Soren’s connection to the Shadow Plane had increased. Moreover, he recently discovered that he had suddenly gained a batch of previously unknown followers.
These followers were all beings from the Shadow Plane!
They showed no aversion to changing their faith; perhaps to these shadow beings, whoever commanded the Shadow divinity was the deity they served and worshiped.
As for whether this deity was Soren or the original Lord of Shadows, it didn’t really matter.
Next.
Soren also needed to deal with the Church of Shadows and the Shadow Thief Guild. Both of these forces had considerable foundations, and if Soren completely annexed them, it would further enhance the strength of Modo City. Especially the Wanderer class, which he had almost completely controlled—the most elite group of Wanderers in the Material Plane. Furthermore, after defeating the Lord of Shadows, Soren’s control over the Thieves Guild had drastically improved, and they subtly seemed to be inclined to submit to him.
The Chess Dimension still needed redesigning.
Modo City was undergoing its third renovation project, and Soren had to personally oversee it at this time.
There were also foundational skills that needed enhancement, alchemy that needed to be completed, and legendary spells that he needed to memorize. Various matters required Soren’s attention.
Although the application of the Projection Spell could bring Soren some convenience, it didn’t last long enough.
Exploring ancient ruins consumed too much time, and Projection couldn’t sustain for that long unless Soren created a new avatar. But that would expend too much divine power.
Soren had to accumulate strength!
As a god without a direct combat divine position, Soren could only upgrade to Strong Divine Power by mastering the Divine Power of “Descension of the Celestials,” and he still had many divine abilities that needed to be obtained through Divine Power Value.
Currently, Soren’s most crucial task was accumulation.
However!
The Bodean set might not mean much, at best providing clues about the “Pirate” divine position. Pirate Island wasn’t a significant issue, but the “Magic Suppression Prison” was a place Soren was very curious about. Because this might help complete part of Modo City’s Maze capabilities, such as restricting other spellcasters’ abilities on Modo Island.
“Still thinking about this matter?”
Gloria’s figure appeared outside the door. She glanced at Soren, who was frowning slightly, and said slowly, “Is it about the Magic Suppression Prison? Why not dispatch a team of legendary professionists to go?”
“As a deity, perhaps you should shift your thinking. You can’t do everything personally!”
“Besides, Modo City is capable of forming a legendary adventurer team.”
Seeing Soren’s expression turn contemplative, Gloria continued softly, “The High Priest doesn’t have many matters at hand; you can have her command this exploration mission.”
“Since there are deep-sea beasts here, you can also send your little pet along.”
“The giant could use some combat experience, and taking him wouldn’t be a problem for a meat shield. If you’re still worried, you could send that little girl from the temple too; if anything happens, you can personally descend at any time.”
Gloria’s words cleared Soren’s mind.
That’s right!
He didn’t need to directly intervene in everything anymore.
The High Priest was a Mind Sorcerer at Profession Level 30, and having her lead the team would be basically without any issues; she was also an Astral Explorer with rich experience in handling various dangers. Moreover, the giant was not very smart; staying in Modo City meant just daily training and didn’t manage things like other pirate leaders did, making it perfect to send him out for some training. And the little girl Gloria mentioned was none other than the Holy Spirit Priest, Milan from the Church. If she was included, in case of any danger, Soren could temporarily descend with her corporeal form.
With his thoughts clear, Soren quickly had his candidates in mind.
First, the High Priest was a must; Soren would not feel at ease if she didn’t go. Then the Red-Haired Pirate Woman, Adele Isabella, as Soren had his plans for her future. Next was the Holy Spirit Priest, Milan, the Legendary Warrior, the Giant, and the most likely-to-ascend-to-legend Wanderer, Chouhou.
That made five people.
The High Priest could fully replace the Legendary Wizard, while Holy Spirit Priest Milan’s improvisation far surpassed that of a Legendary Priest. Adele Isabella could serve as an agile warrior; the Giant was an irreplaceable legendary meat shield, and Chouhou had top-notch talent among all Wanderers.
The five-person team was already formed.
Adding Modo City’s fleet and Soren’s pet mutant orca, their combat power was already quite astonishing.
However!
Soren thought for a moment and decided to prepare a small team of Drow Warriors, and also assign a Bishop to assist. After all, Holy Spirit Priest Milan was very important to Soren, and with this configuration, they would even have the strength to face a divine avatar of a saint. The key was that Soren could always personally descend upon Milan.
