Abyss Domination – Chapter 939

Chapter Eighty-Four: The Power of Killing!

George led an army forward.

The journey had been quite peaceful; he hadn’t encountered any battles or enemies. This valley seemed vast, with continuous high peaks in the distance. He faintly heard the calls of bipedal dragons, although he couldn’t pinpoint the direction they were coming from. However, this leisurely pace didn’t last long. His long-time training made him exceedingly alert, and he quickly noticed traces of enemies, unable to help but shout, “Enemies are approaching! Prepare for battle!”

Cackle!

A spine-chilling, grotesque laugh rang out, followed by the appearance of some hunched, particularly fierce-looking creatures. They appeared somewhat female, but their faces were extremely ugly, clad in tattered robes and wielding bone staffs.

“Not good!”

George felt his heart skip at the sight and muttered, “It’s a ghost hag! d*mn it!”

“Charge with the entire army! Follow me into the fray!”

Ghost Hags.

A type of evil spirit from the lower planes, there had been ghost hags among the enemies during the last invasion of Modo. They were difficult opponents and could cast various eerie spells. The soldiers around him were just regular troops; if he allowed the ghost hags to cast spells, a good portion of them could fall in a single round. At this moment, he wasn’t thinking about where the ghost hags had come from but was trying every possible way to close the distance and not give them any chance to cast spells. As a melee professionist, George knew how horrifying the consequences could be if spellcasters were given enough distance.

The battle erupted in an instant.

George charged forward, propelling himself towards the leading ghost hag and swung his sword down. Behind him were the soldiers ordered to charge, their strength approximately equivalent to the typical legion of Modo, rushing toward the ghost hag who was in the midst of casting a spell. George had to admit that he timed it perfectly; as soon as the ghost hags saw them, they began casting. Without a moment’s hesitation, he charged in and interrupted part of their spells, dragging the ghost hags into the depths of close-quarters combat.

As long as they were denied the opportunity to cast spells, victory was merely a matter of time for George.

However!

At that moment, a cold metallic voice suddenly shook him.

“Trial failed!”

“Haruk dead!… Teleport out of the battlefield!…”

This alert didn’t just make George’s body tremble; even the drow warrior on the other side was shaken.

Meanwhile.

In the left path of the valley, the ground was still littered with corpses.

A noxious aura permeated the area as countless soldiers perished within it. Haruk knelt on one knee in the center, and even in d*ath, he appeared unyielding. Surrounding his corpse were many demon bodies, intermingled with a number of night witches. It was clear he was killed while being surrounded by enemies; although he fought valiantly until the last moment, he still couldn’t change the outcome.

—“Cloud of d*ath!”

From the traces of the battle, it could be deduced that the human side had faced a one-sided slaughter.

The reason was simple.

Behind the night witches, a leader cast the fifth ring spell ‘Cloud of d*ath.’ This spell completely crushed low-level entities; any creature unable to pass a d*ath saving throw would instantly d*e within the cloud’s range. These ordinary soldiers had no means to resist the power of the Cloud of d*ath, resulting in their mass slaughter. In the end, even though Haruk withstood the damage from the spell, his personal strength was insufficient to defeat so many enemies and he was ultimately overwhelmed.

The first failure had occurred.

A figure overlooking the entire valley in the void shook its head and slowly said, “The tactical thinking is too poor!”

“Not a shred of experience dealing with mid to high-level spellcasters.”

“Individual combat experience is acceptable; unfortunately, such individuals can only serve as front-line soldiers and cannot be nurtured into excellent officers for Modo!”

Soren silently observed all of this.

Haruk’s mistake seemed incredibly foolish to him. As a high-level warrior, allowing the enemy to cast Cloud of d*ath indicated a severe lack of understanding of spellcasters. Additionally, his intelligence wasn’t very high.

Everything was just beginning.

One out of three trialists had died, which certainly did not satisfy Soren.

However, this was his first test in the Chess Dimension, so he didn’t regard the performance of the trialists as significant; what mattered more to him was the overall operation of the Chess Dimension.

Haruk was dead!

As he died in the trial, his spirit would gradually detach from the chess trial, with a trace of his soul energy also being stripped away upon d*ath, gradually merging into the entire valley.

Not only that!

What surprised Soren was that this soul energy actually generated a trace of connection and was sent to him. This value was extremely rare, possibly even less than 100 points of Killing Experience, but Soren could ascertain it was genuinely connected to him like a faith link network. More incredibly, during Haruk’s battle,

Soren unexpectedly gained a trace of Killing Power!

Very rare.

This trace of Killing Power was nearly negligible; if Soren hadn’t been using god-level perception, he might not have noticed this slight increase in power at all.

However!

He could confirm that this trace of power truly existed.

Moreover, it had transformed through the [Killing] domain that Soren mastered, similar to the divine power of faith transformed from half-elves, shadows, and divine rulership.

This trace of Killing Power was transformed during Haruk’s battle through the [Killing] domain.

The conversion rate was low.

It paled in comparison to the power provided by other believers of Modo, but it was certain that this trace of power was somewhat similar to divine power.

“What’s going on?”

Soren fell into deep thought, feeling somewhat puzzled.

“Is it because of the divine profession?”

“Does the Killing domain not entirely require real-world killings? Can the killings in this trial also be transformed into divine power?”

“Haruk had a very strong fighting will before he died!”

“Is that because of this?”

Soren was somewhat bewildered, but given that he had been invested as a deity for quite a while, he managed to analyze some insights. For instance, the [God of War] wielded the divine profession of [War], which could provide him with power. In times of peace, the God of War’s divine power could even potentially decline to medium divine power. Yet, once turmoil ensued, even if the God of War’s followers didn’t increase much, his power could easily reach strong divine power.

This was the influence of the divine profession!

Soren mastered the [Killing] domain and also received an informational prompt regarding the Killing divine profession.

Ultimately.

The trial within the entire Chess Dimension was centered around killing; Soren intended to have these trialists break through themselves through battle and slaughter, and the emergence of this trace of Killing Power likely had a direct connection to this.

Now!

Soren needed to wait for the trial results of the other two to appear and see if the Killing Power would continue to increase!
