Chapter 27: Blood War Salvation!

Controlling devils is simpler than controlling demons.
This is because lawful beings are accustomed to obeying commands. Unlike the chaotic nature of demons, once you control a devil, you don’t have to worry that it will unpredictably lose its mind like a demon might. However, if you control a devil, you must always be aware of one thing: a devil is never truly loyal to you; it is always thinking about how to betray you. But until it feels confident enough, these devils will obediently follow orders.
Devils believe in order and rules, not because the latter promotes societal progress, but because they see opportunities for personal gain within these rules. Each devil aspires to rise to a higher position where it can modify rules at will to serve its own goals. The devil’s ideal is to progress from obeying the rules to creating the rules. In the many layers of the Hell of Bartok, many archdevils will establish various rules for their subordinate devils to serve their interests.
As a high-ranking deity, especially one with medium divine power,
Soren need not worry about the betrayal of a high-level devil; he has enough confidence to control it. The difference is that a deity drives a devil through direct control of the soul, whereas mortals often rely on spells and true names. This gives the devil loopholes to exploit and the potential to betray its master.
Modo City, afternoon.
Shortly after Soren returned, Gloria arrived in the study.
“I heard you brought back a high-level devil?”
Gloria glanced around the room after entering, then tossed her hair and said, “Where is it? Did you let it go?”
Soren nodded and looked at her, “What’s wrong?”
“I have some things that need it to handle, so I already sent it back to the Hell of Bartok.”
“Nothing much.” Gloria smiled faintly and said, “I just need some high-level devil’s blood for research, but since you’ve released it, I’ll use something else as a substitute.”
“By the way.”
At this point, Gloria’s expression became serious as she said, “The council chamber in Modo City has recently discovered some infected individuals in Modo Harbor.”
“So far, they have all been quarantined.”
“I think, given the current situation on the continent, we should control the influx of people a bit.”
The speed at which the plague is spreading is faster than expected.
Although the Church of the Gods is responding swiftly, some areas lacking priests quickly turn into paradises for zombies. Currently, the paladins are cleaning up the undead and tracking down the demons, and even the Holy Avengers have requested a batch of safe supplies from Soren to assist the disaster victims. Many towns on the continent have been quarantined, and the Church of the Gods is gradually clearing out the demon minions while carefully dealing with the Lord of Hell, Asmothiels.
“Uh-huh.”
“Then we should restrict the influx of outsiders.”
Soren thought this made sense and said, “Proclaim a ban within Modo City; currently, no outsiders are permitted to enter. Increase the inspection at Modo Harbor. I’ll dispatch priests from the Church to monitor.”
“The third wave of impact is about to come.”
“Now that the Blood War in the Bottomless Abyss is basically ending, under these circumstances, the main forces of demons in the Blood War are likely to attack the Material Plane to seize souls.”
Blood War Legion.
Just the thought of this name is enough to instill fear in many mortals of the Material Plane.
Due to the Saint’s Cataclysm, the intensity of the Blood War in the Bottomless Abyss has nearly ceased, reduced to less than one-tenth of its original strength.
With this, the elite forces of the demon legions in the Blood War have free time.
This poses one of the greatest challenges facing the Material Plane and the Saint’s Cataclysm!
The demon legions forged in the Blood War over countless years are almost invincible on the Material Plane, and even the armies of Modo City would be unable to resist them.
Perhaps the only force from the Material Plane capable of opposing them is the Golem Legion from the time of the Arcane Empire.
The third wave’s assault is merely a probing attack by the Blood War Legion.
Only when the final wave of the Saint’s Cataclysm arrives will the Lord of Hell, Asmothiels, send forth the elite of the Blood War Legion and the top-tier elite devils, which are said to be sent to the deepest parts of Hell, having risen to high-level devils and then faded from sight. (Note: It was previously mentioned that the outstanding high-level devils that rise in the Blood War end up being sent to the deepest parts of the Hell of Bartok to become Asmothiels’ trump cards; no one knows what he intends to do with these elite Blood War devils. Legends say he plans to use them to counterattack Mount Heaven.)
History has reached a decisive point.
Although we are only at the third wave of impact, Soren already senses the approaching final explosive eruption of the Saint’s Cataclysm.
The time left for him is not much!
In his past life, the Material Plane survived because three hundred thousand paladins held up the backbone of the world, fighting on the front lines against the surviving elite demons from the Blood War.
However, now adventurers are long gone.
Soren, even now, has no confidence in changing the fate of the final battle; at most, he can barely rely on his own abilities to help Modo City survive the catastrophe.
The Blood War Legion is difficult to defeat.
Unless someone can reignite the Abyssal Blood War, the Material Plane will have to face Asmothiels’ elite demon legion!
Abyssal Blood War.
This may be Soren’s last chance to alter the Saint’s Cataclysm and prevent the destruction of the Material Plane.
In fact, he has been aware of this for a long time.
Only by reigniting the Abyssal Blood War can he delay the demon legion of the Lord of Hell, Asmothiels, at the tail end of the Saint’s Cataclysm, giving the Material Plane a moment to breathe and then drag the demons back into an endless war with the demons.
Soren’s schemes regarding the Bottomless Abyss were never small.
Initially, it was just for self-preservation, then it involved Vivian, but everything is interconnected. If possible, Soren doesn’t mind saving the world along the way, even if he is a god of the Evil Faction.
However.
If Soren ultimately decides to do this, he must face the challenge of the Lord of Hell, Asmothiels. Facing such a terrifying enemy requires him to possess more than Strong Divine Power.
The future is full of infinite variables.
As a person who thinks deeply, Soren must consider long-term matters.
Without foresight, one will face imminent trouble.
What he can currently do is to steadily build his own strength, patiently waiting for the arrival of the third wave of the Saint’s Cataclysm, and then accumulate power to respond to the fourth wave of impact.
As for whether he can save the Material Plane and welcome the final battle of the Saint’s Cataclysm!
At present.
The only method Soren can think of is to reignite the Abyssal Blood War. Without three hundred thousand paladins propping up the backbone of the world, only the Abyssal Blood War can save the world!
…
(PS: Second update. This book is starting to enter the mid to late stages. After writing for so long, the author sometimes feels exhausted as well. I hope everyone can understand.) (To be continued ~^~)
