The Shadow Plane is filled with contrasts of black and white, dullness; colors have been infected by the surrounding environment, dim like the universe itself. On the other hand, it presents many similarities to the Material Plane (though not identical).
Just like the sky that hangs overhead, it is always a deep black dome where the sun, moon, and stars are invisible. In the Shadow Plane, one can see landmarks that are the same as those in the Material Plane, but they are twisted reflections, the most blurred image of the Material Plane. Despite being dim, there are many plants, animals, and humanoid beings that call the Shadow Plane home.
Typically, the geography of the Shadow Plane resembles the locations in the Material Plane through which travelers enter it. If a mage enters the Shadow Plane from a forest, she will first see an opposite shadow forest. If she enters from underwater, she will appear in a shadow sea that flows just like the oceans of the Material Plane, meaning her water breathing spell remains effective. Although the landscape of the Shadow Plane has some similarities to its counterpart in the Material Plane, the environment still changes somewhat upon her departure from the entry point.
