Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 43

Chapter 43: You and Me, 50/50!

Ye Liang Chen strolled out of the classroom, secretly lowering his gaze and sighing with a heavy heart.

Talking about the white moonlight he’s adored for so long in this kind of tone? Yeah, that didn’t sit well in his chest either.

But, what could he do?

If he didn’t do this, how could he make the white moonlight regret? How could he make her wake up to her feelings and start a ‘pursuit marriage’ with him?

All these hardships were what Li Qing Xue had to go through in life.

If she didn’t face these setbacks, how would she realize she liked him all along without even knowing it?

“Morning, brother, are you okay?” Gao Quan whispered, looking at Ye Liang Chen with concern.

The way he sounded… clearly, Morning Brother’s words weren’t easy for him either.

He must be in a lot of pain inside right now, huh?

“Quan, do you think I’m just playing hard to get? Do you think I’m hurting Li Qing Xue with these words?”

Gao Quan looked at Ye Liang Chen’s serious face, a bit at a loss.

They’ve known each other since they were very little — it’s not an exaggeration to say they played together even while they were completely n*ked.

He understood Ye Liang Chen’s nature; even if rejected by Li Qing Xue, he wouldn’t intentionally seek revenge.

After all, he’s confessed Ninety-Eight times in a row?

But what he just said — those cold words — had actually made Li Qing Xue cry.

Still, after a brief hesitation, Gao Quan said, “Brother Chen, I believe in you. You’re not that kind of person.”

Hearing that, Ye Liang Chen felt warmly touched. To be unconditionally believed in? That really moved him.

He nodded. “Exactly. I’m not that kind of guy. The heavy words I just spat out? Just to make Li Qing Xue see that Long Ao Tian isn’t a good person.”

“As expected, I don’t really believe that Brother Chen is targeting Li Qing Xue on purpose,” Gao Quan said with a smile.

Ye Liang Chen grinned and clapped a hand on Gao Quan’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, time will prove everything. You’ll soon see that your brother is right. Let’s leave everything to time now.”

“Go eat your meal. I’ve got someone to find,” Ye Liang Chen finished and headed toward Class 7’s door.

The day was not far off when Hu Yu Ying’s world was about to shatter under bullying.

It was high time to show some concern for Hu Yu Ying early on. Plant the seeds for her redemption later.

At the entrance of Class 7, he immediately spotted the obedient Hu Yu Ying, studying at her desk, and Long Ao Tian, feigning seriousness as if diligently learning.

“Peh, what is this, pretending to be impressive?” he muttered disdainfully, then turned to the closest student near the door. “Hey, can you help me call Hu Yu Ying?”

Hearing Ye Liang Chen’s voice, the student nodded without hesitation. “Sure.”

He then walked to the last row. “Hu Yu Ying, someone outside is looking for you.”

Hearing that, Hu Yu Ying first expressed her thanks to the classmate conveying the message.

Then she looked toward the door.

There she saw Ye Liang Chen leaning against the corridor railing, eyes cast downward at forty-five degrees.

When their eyes met, Hu Yu Ying instinctively shook her head: “I—I don’t know him.”

“Should I refuse him for you?” the student asked.

Hu Yu Ying nodded repeatedly. “Thank you, sorry for the trouble.”

No one dislikes politeness; even if it’s just a casual favor, when someone thanks you kindly, softening your reply to “no problem” feels different.

“It’s alright.”

Back at his seat, watching Ye Liang Chen still smirking at the door, he said, “Hu Yu Ying said she doesn’t know you. You can go back now.”

Ye Liang Chen frowned. “What did you just say?”

“You’re really messing around. Did you tell her that? How could Hu Yu Ying not recognize me?”

Remember, he helped Hu Yu Ying handle those troublemakers from the Second High on Friday.

Plus, on Saturday at Nan Feng Square, he had a cheerful chat with Hu Yu Ying, who was working a part-time job. How could she not recognize him?

The classmate shot Ye Liang Chen a blank stare. “Are you crazy? Hu Yu Ying said she doesn’t know you!”

The quarrel at the door wasn’t loud, but enough to draw attention from some classmates—especially Hu Yu Ying.

After claiming she didn’t know Ye Liang Chen, her eyes kept flicking toward the door, probably just to see if he’d leave.

Now she saw he wasn’t only still there but even arguing with the classmate who just spoke for him.

Her mood instantly tensed.

“Who is he?” Long Ao Tian asked, eyeing Hu Yu Ying.

Hu Yu Ying clutched her fingers nervously. “He, he’s the guy who knocked on my door on Saturday,” she whispered.

Long Ao Tian looked up toward the door, then stood up immediately.

Ye Liang Chen, who had been watching Hu Yu Ying’s every move, suddenly saw Long Ao Tian looking his way and froze.

Then he took two steps back — because Long Ao Tian was coming toward him!

Standing taller than most peers and often involved in fights and skipping classes, Long Ao Tian was physically strong.

Ye Liang Chen was about 175 cm tall, slim build, and looked frail beside Long Ao Tian — both physically and in stature.

Watching Long Ao Tian approach, Ye Liang Chen couldn’t help but think back to the scene where Long Ao Tian targeted him, brought friends to fight him, or slammed him with bottles.

Even in his dreams, he’d already defeated Long Ao Tian once. Yet, with a twenty-eight-year-old soul occupying his body now, the trauma of Long Ao Tian’s attacks still lingered — indelible.

He was basically a obsessively crazy lunatic…

As Long Ao Tian drew nearer, his swaggering, wild grin radiated untamed energy.

Hey boss, there’s more coming after this chapter! Click next page to continue reading. The story gets even more exciting!

It reminded him of the university barbecue stall—when he invited Hu Yu Ying to eat barbecue — and then met Long Ao Tian.

Back then, Long Ao Tian also looked like this—eyes full of malicious intent as he approached, then, without a word, grabbed a bottle and smashed it onto his head.

He refused to let himself get close to Hu Yu Ying. “If you get near her again, I’ll beat you up every single time I see you…”

Too many things like this… too many.

His breathing quickened, nerves tightening so much he nearly forgot how to breathe.

Long Ao Tian looked strangely at the young man in front of him.

For some reason, he could feel a trace of fear—fear of himself—in this boy.

He was afraid of himself.

Long Ao Tian scratched his nose awkwardly, wondering if before crossing over, the original owner had some conflict with him? Or maybe he’d been beaten by the original?

After all, in the original novel, Long Ao Tian was a quintessential villain — quick to resort to violence at the slightest provocation, and the greatest troublemaker for the main characters.

Ye Liang Chen saw Long Ao Tian raise his hand intent on attacking, and immediately widened his eyes, quickly falling back to maintain distance, shouting hoarsely, “What are you doing? You wanna hit me? I told you, if you dare hit me, I’ll call the police!”

Terrified, Ye Liang Chen’s heart hammered, eyes fixed nervously on Long Ao Tian. But then he saw Long Ao Tian only raised his hand, rubbing his nose???

Long Ao Tian hadn’t expected that just rubbing his nose would cause such a huge reaction.

He grinned amusingly. “Hey, friend, is there some misunderstanding between us?”

But, the smile on Long Ao Tian’s face, to Ye Liang Chen, seemed like mockery—mockery that just a quick raise of the hand had frightened him so badly.

Feeling everyone’s gaze on him, Ye Liang Chen gritted his teeth, clutching his fists.

He felt utterly humiliated!

If it weren’t for not wanting to ruin his gentle, sunny image in Hu Yu Ying’s eyes, he almost couldn’t resist punching Long Ao Tian right there.

Hold it in!

Hold it in!

Must hold on!

He was at a disadvantage now; confronting Long Ao Tian head-on, they were practically even — 50/50 chance.

He didn’t come here to fight Long Ao Tian!

There was no need to start a fight at this moment. Once he used the information gap to his advantage and got ahead, then teaching Long Ao Tian a lesson could wait.

With that thought, Ye Liang Chen took a deep breath.

“Don’t get cocky—time changes everything, don’t underestimate the young.” he declared.

Then he turned and left swiftly.

“Hey!” Long Ao Tian called after him.

Ye Liang Chen quickened his steps and disappeared around the corner of the hallway…
