Chapter 73: Unexpectedly Awesome
Hu Yu Ying carefully strapped on her shoes and took a few steps.
The shoes were light—no tired feet—and walking in them felt like drifting on clouds, pretty comfy indeed.
“Try on another pair,” suggested Dragon Brother with a nod, now feeling too scared to say anything more.
So, obediently, Hu Yu Ying took off her shoes.
“Wait, try on that pair of socks too,” Dragon Brother, pretending to be a gentleman, reminded.
Lest anyone think he was interested in her ankles, he clarified: the pink socks looked better. Dragon Brother usually conducts himself with maturity and composure—he’s definitely not some pervert who prefers foot fetishes.
“Oh,” Hu Yu Ying responded, glancing twice more at the socks, then took a deep breath and quickly looked away, satisfied.
“Just these two,” Dragon Brother announced, pulling out some money from his pocket. Both pairs of shoes could be swapped out easily.
Hu Yu Ying kept her head bowed, standing silently beside Dragon Brother. Her expression wasn’t visible from his perspective.
But based on Dragon Brother’s understanding of her, even if he didn’t look at her face, he could guess her mood.
However, some things should be said only once or twice—more than that, and they become meaningless.
“Let’s go,” said Dragon Brother.
“Where to?” Hu Yu Ying hurried after him, eager to help carry his stuff.
“Don’t pull or tug—people might get the wrong idea,” Dragon Brother warned.
Hu Yu Ying shot him a resentful glance—earlier, he carried her on his back, even smacked her b*tt, yet nobody batted an eye. So why was he worried about appearances now?
“Still blaming me?” He playfully tapped her head.
But secretly, Dragon Brother felt pretty good—youth like a flower should be lively and vibrant, not stiff and dull all the time.
“Where are we headed?”
“Shopping.”
“I don’t want to.”
“You’re too pretty to not buy your own clothes,” Dragon Brother insisted.
Hu Yu Ying’s heart lightened at this, and her steps picked up a bit.
Soon, Dragon Brother spotted a pretty floral dress.
He took Hu Yu Ying by the hand and led her in.
She looked at the clothes around—mostly both men’s and women’s wear, nothing unusual.
He picked up the floral skirt: “Go change.”
“Huh?”
“What, huh? I’ll pick out something for boys. Flowers need their leaves, right? Hurry up.”
He coaxed and pushed her into the dressing room before she could protest.
“Big Brother Dragon.” Hu Yu Ying’s head just poked out when he shoved her in: “Too nosy!”
Waiting while the girl changed was unbearably boring—even Hu Yu Ying couldn’t escape it.
Dragon Brother yawned loudly at the wait, looking thoroughly bored.
He yawned even larger as Hu Yu Ying finally emerged, wearing the simple floral dress that amazingly showcased her figure perfectly.
She moved slightly, her hips swaying softly with a gentle and unknowingly alluring grace, as if hiding a quiet strength inside.
Her shiny, delicate collarbones, with wisps of hair falling over them—adding a touch of innocence and subtle charm—caught Dragon Brother’s gaze.
Seeing his lingering stare, Hu Yu Ying hesitated, standing shyly with her sparkling eyes flickering. Her face turned crimson as she looked at him shyly, like a small fawn trembling under a gentle rain of light.
“Surprisingly good,” Dragon Brother said, extending his hand.
Hu Yu Ying froze, her cheeks flushing, unsure what to do, and tentatively placed her small hand into his.
He flicked her hand away, grabbing the clothes instead. “Give me your clothes. I’ll put them away.”
“Ok, ok,” Hu Yu Ying replied a beat late but quickly recovered, handing over the clothes.
Dragon Brother sniffed her outfit—smelling a unique and delicate girl scent.
Not overwhelming—it was a faint fragrance, quite nice, actually.
He packed up the clothes, satisfied.
“Let’s go, I’m starving,” he announced.
Hu Yu Ying, somewhat dazed, suddenly realized she was now carrying a dress herself.
Wearing the floral skirt and soft shoes, walking beside Dragon Brother, she felt an inexplicable surge of confidence.
This was a confidence from within—glowing softly, almost like shining from the inside out.
Dragon Brother watched her, knowing this was a good sign.
The adorable face paired with a lively outfit naturally made people glance twice.
Neither holding hands nor speaking, they just walking together was enough to attract extra eyes.
“Big Brother Dragon, this is the restaurant I work part-time at. Let’s eat there,” Hu Yu Ying suggested.
With a discount for dining, and since Dragon Brother bought her clothes and shoes, she felt she had to treat him to a meal, no matter what.
Plus, the place was pretty affordable.
Dragon Brother, with no particular food preferences, nodded: “Sure.”
……
“Big Brother Chen, check out the pretty girl!” Gao Quan excitedly patted the person next to him.
Ye Liang Chen was not in the mood. Yesterday, his mom handed him some cash to go relax.
Today, Gao Quan texted him to go surfing the internet together.
Surfing was fine, but he really just wanted to drown his sorrows—buy some cheap drinks at the “Treasure Girl” part-time shop, make her worry about him, and maybe even get Gao Quan to take a drunken photo for his social media status.
“I… I don’t feel like it. I think I’ll never be easily moved by women again.”
“Whoa, look! Isn’t that Dragon Brother?”
“What?” Intrigued, Ye Liang Chen’s interest piqued. “Gotcha! You shameless Casanova, keep dangling Treasure Girl while dating other girls.”
Then it hit him—maybe, if Dragon Brother gets tired of Treasure Girl, he might have a shot!
He hurriedly followed Gao Quan’s gaze, lips trembling and eyes wide: “Treasure Girl?”
How could he forget Treasure Girl’s face—even with her dramatic makeover today? But the sense of fate was strong; he recognized her immediately…
“I feel like that girl looks so familiar. Brother Chen, do you think we’ve seen her before at the cafeteria?” Gao Quan squinted, studying her more.
“It’s her.”
Ye Liang Chen confirmed, and Gao Quan gasped, taking a gulp of cold air.
It’s not surprising—today’s Hu Yu Ying was a different person, but he still recognized her instantly.
Usually dressed in school uniform, hair tied up, eyes downcast—gorgeous but expressionless most of the time.
But today, she was smiling brightly—a pure, indescribably innocent kind of smile that instantly warmed the heart and made people involuntarily drawn in.
Suddenly, the phrase【A perfect match of talents and beauty】popped into his mind.
“Turns out even Treasure Girl can be blinded by material things. Hehe, I overlooked human nature. Hah…”
As he said that, Ye Liang Chen’s cold smirk faded, replaced with a cold glare.
“Brave Ye Liang Chen, don’t fear difficulties—let’s go!”
He straightened his clothes, determined to outmatch Dragon Brother in every way, showing Treasure Girl what a high-quality man looks like!
