Chapter 93: Be Good, Put It Down — This Isn’t Exactly What You’re Ready To Touch Yet
“Dragon Bro, where are we going?” Hu Yu Ying sat in the back, staring shyly at her toes, and softly asked.
She wasn’t sure if she was heavy or light, if Bro Dragon was tired or not. Thinking of this, she secretly tried to peek at Bro Dragon, but from the back, she couldn’t see a thing.
“To eat,” Dragon Brother replied easily. High school exams were over, and with that heavy stone in her chest finally dropped, his mood was breezy like a kite. Might as well have some good food now.
“Bro…,” she started.
“If you don’t want me to smack you, shut your mouth,” Dragon Brother shot back, quickly leading Hu Yu Ying to the Haiwan City Food Street.
With the exams done, all the pressure on the students suddenly eased, and they all started living their wild, free lives.
Honestly, it was packed to the gills—like, a sea of people.
“Wow, so many folks,” Hu Yu Ying said, looking at the crowd with a hint of shock.
“More people mean more fun. Stick close, or you’ll get lost.”
“I won’t get lost,” she assured him.
And so, Dragon Brother took Hu Yu Ying on a wild, reckless spree today.
Because when it’s lively, it’s always fun.
“Want a candied hawthorn stick?”
“No.”
“Two sticks, boss,” Dragon Brother called out to a vendor.
“Are they tasty?”
“Yeah, sour and sweet, super good.”
They’d only explored half of the snack street, and Hu Yu Ying was already holding a mountain of goodies.
Seeing Bro Dragon still planning to buy more snacks, she quickly grabbed his clothes.
“Bro, I haven’t finished eating yet. Don’t buy anymore.”
Growing up in a poor family, she had worked hard since she was little—not just once—just for the money. That had made her somewhat of a small-time penny pincher.
Watching Dragon Brother spend money like water, Hu Yu Ying’s little brain spun dizzy. All this money Dragon Brother casually tossed out—probably more than she made from a part-time job in a week, no, a month.
Even if it wasn’t her own money, she still felt heartache at every dime spent.
“This is just the beginning, cheapskate. Today, all your expenses will be paid for by Bro Dragon,” he said confidently.
Knowing how hard it was to earn money made her feel even more pained for those little pennies likely to be thrown away by him.
“Hey, that thing looks fun. Come, let’s check it out.” Dragon Brother tugged Hu Yu Ying’s arm and pushed through the crowd.
She initially wanted to say something, but when she saw him clutching her wrist, her cheeks flushed red. Her pretty face bit her lip shyly, and suddenly, she couldn’t say a word.
“Does this look good?” he asked.
“Huh? Wh-what?” she was still daydreaming and hadn’t caught what he said.
Before she could respond, Bro Dragon had already grabbed a tiny pair of bunny ears and plopped them on his head.
“Hahaha, so cute!”
Hearing that, Hu Yu Ying shyly lowered her gaze, feeling that Bro Dragon was super annoying. With so many people here, she was practically blushing to d*ath.
“That one’s not bad either.”
Dragon Brother picked up a small crystal crown hairpin, took off the rabbit ears, and clipped it onto her head.
“This looks good. How much is it?”
Hu Yu Ying looked around, also wanting to buy something for Bro Dragon.
Her eyes finally settled on the most questionable stall in the middle, where strange fuzzy tails were displayed.
“Bro, what’s this? Why does this tail have a shiny plug? Is it some kind of decoration on stuff? So weird.”
Hearing her voice, Dragon Brother looked at what Hu Yu Ying was holding.
His mouth twitched. “Be good, put it down. That’s not something you should be touching right now.”
He immediately threw the thing back onto the stall, pulled her out of the crowd, and, once away from the bustle, said, “You eat first. I need to make a call.”
Hu Yu Ying looked puzzled at Bro Dragon’s flushed ears, then heard him on the phone: “Yes, I want to report that at x*x*x Food Street, stall 69, they’re selling x*x*x products…”
Her beautiful eyes squinted with suspicion, watching that crowded stall again—the strange item clearly affected Bro Dragon’s mood so suddenly. Why was he so pissed off now?
Listening to Bro Dragon talking, she realized those strange things were called adult products…
Suddenly, she saw a man and a woman holding what looked like a white fox tail. They said something, and the girl’s face instantly turned red, then she playfully scolded the guy two times.
Before she could observe more than a few seconds, a figure suddenly blocked her view.
Looking up, she saw it was Bro Dragon, who pinched her neck and dragged her away.
Until she obediently followed, she still couldn’t figure out why Bro Dragon looked so angry.
She didn’t dare ask, feeling maybe it was all in her mind. Asking might just get her a punch.
“d*mn sons of bitches, money isn’t made like this,” Dragon Brother muttered, angrier by the second.
“What did you say, Bro? I didn’t catch that.”
“Nothing. I’m just asking—what’s your plan next?”
Hu Yu Ying answered sweetly, “My plan is to make some money first, then before school starts, I’ll go home and visit my grandparents.”
“How much does your part-time job pay for a day there?”
“Twenty-eight yuan.”
“How much?” Dragon Brother was shocked, causing their bike to sway.
Feeling the swaying, Hu Yu Ying instinctively held onto Dragon Brother’s waist with both hands for balance.
“Wha… what’s wrong?” she asked shyly, looking at her hands wrapped around him, but she didn’t let go.
Thankfully, just from asking, she learned that in four hours, she only earned seven yuan. Fooling college students? No problem. High schoolers? That’s bold! “So black-hearted!”
“I don’t have that,” Hu Yu Ying hurried to explain. “That’s because I only work in the morning. If I worked all day, I’d earn more.”
Snick~~
Dragon Brother hit the brake, and the bicycle stopped.
Inertia caused Hu Yu Ying to lurch forward, bumping into Bro Dragon.
She lifted her head, her lovely eyes slightly flushed. She clearly felt that brief moment when her Bro Dragon’s body stiffened.
Hu Yu Ying, calm on the outside, was actually quite capable beneath her appearance.
That punch she felt—soft, tender, pressed against her.
Unaccountably, her heartbeat skipped a beat.
Looking at her arms still wrapped around his waist, Dragon Brother coughed twice and said, “Tomorrow, I’ll take you out to earn some money.”
“How? How do we make money?” Hu Yu Ying was clueless.
“Sell clothes,” Dragon Brother declared, once again mounting his bike. This time, he didn’t plan to keep shopping but headed straight home.
The original story mentions a lot about business—stocks, finance, AAP development, but he just doesn’t get those. Relying on memories, he’d buy stocks and cryptocurrencies expected to appreciate, waiting for profits to grow.
But if it’s about small-time schemes, shady deals—after years of swimming in society’s muddy waters—Dragon Bro is a pro at that.
