Chapter 96: Good People Always Get the Gentle Touch from the World
The man called Old Zhao looked at Dragon Brother and Hu Yu Ying. “Who are you guys?”
“We’re here for this summer’s newest short-sleeved shirts,” Dragon Brother said with a grin.
“Oh, they’re right here.” Old Zhao pointed to the big package on the ground.
Dragon Brother expertly tore open one package. “Yo, this is the latest model—cool and breezy. Wearing this in the blazing heat? Man, that’s just pure happiness.”
“Ah, right.” Dragon Brother suddenly turned to Hu Yu Ying, eyes sparkling mischievously. “Dad said how much this was again? I was too busy gaming, I think it was five or—?”
Hu Yu Ying shivered all over, awkwardly flustered. Luckily, she understood what Dragon Brother was hinting at, so she stammered, “I think it’s six bucks?” Her confidence was as shaky as a jelly in an earthquake.
“Your dad said six dollars, right?” Old Zhao nodded.
“Yeah, yeah, six dollars, for sure.” Dragon Brother packed the clothes back into the bag, all tidy. “Got everything in size, right?”
“As long as it’s all there,” Old Zhao replied. “I need 500 pieces.”
Dragon Brother pulled out the money he took last night, counted out the bills, and handed them over to Old Zhao. “Here, you help me give this to the factory director. I’ll just take the goods myself.”
While hauling the packages, Dragon Brother chuckled, “School’s got me so caught up in dating that I totally forgot I gotta learn to run a business. Dad even told me to buy stock myself, said it’s good to get familiar.”
“Are you from the old Wang family?” Old Zhao asked tentatively—he knew only he and Old Wang were tight, and he heard that the kid wasn’t doing too well in school.
“Yeah, otherwise why would I come to see you?” Dragon Brother said, already tying up the packages with rope, slinging them onto his back. “Whoa, these are pretty heavy. Guess I gotta go now.”
He cleared his throat twice, nodded to the still-stunned Hu Yu Ying, then turned and left.
Hu Yu Ying quickly snapped out of her daze, blushing as she hurried to help him carry the goods.
“Let’s go, let’s go! Quick, don’t look back,” Dragon Brother whispered.
…
Over the wall, Hu Yu Ying sat clumsily on the packages, her mind blank as she stared at the stuff beneath her. It was all so surreal, like a strange dream. She gazed at Dragon Brother, stunned silent.
Dragon Brother, panting, patted his clothes. When their eyes met, both froze, then burst out laughing simultaneously. “Dragon Bro, you’re really bad!”
“Let’s go, let’s leave this place. We’ll buy tickets at the train station,” Dragon Brother said, hoisting the goods and heading back the way they came.
Hu Yu Ying stuck close to him, wanting to lighten his load. “Dragon Bro, he’s already far ahead. Let’s rest a bit.”
“Go rest up front,” Dragon Brother replied.
Leaning on the cargo, Hu Yu Ying looked at him with shining eyes. “Dragon Bro, I feel so unreal, like I’m dreaming.”
Dragon Brother poked her on the head. “Real or not?”
Hu Yu Ying looked all aggrieved, then nodded, “It’s real.”
“Dummy,” Dragon Brother mumbled, rubbing her head.
They hadn’t eaten lunch; they just rushed into the train station.
On the train, heading home, both finally let out a big sigh of relief.
“Was that exciting?” Dragon Brother asked Hu Yu Ying.
“Totally exciting. Dragon Bro, you’re super exciting. I’ve never done anything like this before—my heart almost jumped outta my chest just now,” Hu Yu Ying said, holding her own chest.
“I was almost freaked out myself. How could you keep talking to those strangers like that?” she added, voice trembling with residual fear. “If I were you, IHonestly wouldn’t know what to do.”
“Will we go again after we finish selling these?” Hu Yu Ying asked softly.
“Next time, no more climbing walls. We can just come straight over next time to buy,” Dragon Brother said confidently. Seeing the mountain of goods sent chills down her spine—the new summer styles will probably flood the market soon. Real orders seem just around the corner.
“Oh,” Hu Yu Ying exhaled, relieved. Though it was thrilling, she admitted that if she had to do it again, she’d probably be trembling like a chubby chick again.
“Let’s go home and eat ribs. I’m hungry,” she said with a grin.
“Can’t wait,” Dragon Brother nodded.
The day slipped by in a blur.
At the train station entrance, Hu Yu Ying sat obediently on the packages, waiting calmly.
When she saw Dragon Brother arrive riding a tricycle, her face lit up visibly.
Standing up excitedly, she waved at him. “Dragon Bro!”
He stopped, unloaded the goods.
Hu Yu Ying sat on the packages and said cheerfully, “Dragon Bro, I’m ready!”
“Let’s go.”
He turned on the tricycle, the wind tousling his hair, but the smile on the girl’s face never faded.
She loved this feeling so much.
Back home, Hu Yu Ying hurried to help Dragon Brother unload. Then she dashed into the kitchen to cook.
Meanwhile, Dragon Brother relaxed in the living room, opening parcels, taking out clothes, hanging them on racks—each piece carefully arranged according to size.
It was a hassle, but for Dragon Brother, it was necessary.
Tomorrow, he planned to fill the entire wardrobe with these clothes—a feast for the eyes.
Afterward, he strolled into the yard.
He set up the sun umbrella; the old man had reinforced the iron wire inside, meant for hanging meat.
Dragon Brother adjusted the wire, aligning it to just the right height for clothing.
And so he stopped there.
The day was rushed, but that’s all it could be for now.
“Dragon Bro, wash your hands! Dinner’s ready,” Hu Yu Ying called over.
“Got it.”
Dragon Brother casually rinsed his hands, then headed into the kitchen.
The aroma of ribs made his stomach rumble—he was starving today.
“Eat slowly. I’m not fighting you for food,” Hu Yu Ying chuckled, watching him gobble.
She was happy—this was her own little achievement: knowing that Dragon Bro liked her cooking.
After eating, Dragon Brother sprawled on the sofa, happily patting his belly.
Hu Yu Ying tidied up, then retrieved money from her secret pocket. “Dragon Bro, this is for you.”
Her thought was simple—Dragon Bro said bringing her into this business was her part, earning money.
But she didn’t put in effort or money herself. All the risks fell on Dragon Bro, she figured.
She trusted him deeply, but she knew business wasn’t all profit and no loss. If there was no profit, she couldn’t let Dragon Bro lose too much—what if she paid half?
She’d try to earn money by working part-time during the next couple of months for her tuition.
“Why?”
Hu Yu Ying looked shyly at Dragon Brother. “That’s all I have.”
Seeing her hesitant eyes, Dragon Brother seemed to guess her thoughts. “Even a mosquito is meat. Let me keep this money for you.”
“Okay.” The little money freak looked at the cash in her hand, feeling a pang. She was reluctant.
Seeing how the little finance manager was pouting but still handed over her money, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
Sweet and simple-hearted—good people will always be treated kindly by the world…
【Alright, I can’t take it anymore. I don’t care anymore. Not touching this again today…】
