Chapter 100: Do You Know That That’s Called “Little Three”?
The next morning.
Li Qing Xue was up bright and early again—like clockwork, even on a Sunday. Years of biological programming had turned her into a morning person—no snooze button needed.
She showered, got dressed, and stepped out the door.
Arriving at the riverside of Shuǐ Wān Hé, she strolled from the west side all the way to the east side, her faithful feet guiding her.
But her familiar figure hadn’t appeared. She sighed quietly—three days. Three days without seeing him.
She took a deep breath, sat on the grassy patch, propping her chin with one hand, gazing absentmindedly at the flowing water.
Pulling out her phone, she glanced at the chat interface. Her mind flooded with images of Dragon Brother riding his bike, whisking Hu Yu Ying away.
She hesitated, then put the phone away.
“College entrance exams are over. I should relax a bit. Maybe he’ll come in a few days,” she muttered.
Lying on the grass, she aimed her phone at the sky and snapped a photo.
Blue sky, white clouds, a sky so clear and vast—today’s weather was just perfect.
She just finished editing the photo, about to post it to her Moments, when a sound of footsteps approached her slowly.
Li Qing Xue hadn’t realized her face was lit up with joy until she turned her head.
She suddenly stiffened, ready to scare the approaching person—who always liked to tease her like she was a kid.
The other person was indeed startled by her sudden move.
Though she had already succeeded in her little prank, Li Qing Xue’s delicate eyebrows furrowed softly.
“Why are you here?”
Ye Liang Chen was caught off guard—he dropped the wildflowers he’d casually picked by the roadside onto the ground.
But seeing Li Qing Xue’s delighted expression made everything else pale in comparison.
However, when he saw her face, the joy on her face faded into cold indifference, an inward sting gnawing at him.
He let out a slight sigh. “If I didn’t come, when would you have come here?”
Full of helplessness, he bent to pick up the wildflowers he had just dropped. “I saw these on my way here—thought they might be for you.”
Li Qing Xue didn’t take them. She even turned her head away, ignoring him.
If feeling a bit sad about rumors and misunderstandings was one thing, he trying to persuade her to repeat her senior year after her suspension—well, that was enough to wipe out any residual fondness she had for him.
Watching her affectionate act, Ye Liang Chen only found it amusing—so she’s still blaming him?
“Enough. My heart isn’t exactly in a good place either, but I came to see you.”
“Ye Liang Chen, can you stop saying things I can’t understand?” Li Qing Xue suddenly cursed her bad luck today.
Ye Liang Chen remained unfazed, hands in his pockets, gazing into the distance. “Admit it, Qing Xue.”
“Admit what?”
“That you actually have feelings for me. Do you know your biggest flaw? It’s that you’re too afraid to face your own heart.”
He looked up at a forty-five-degree angle, smirking with self-deprecating humor. “Is it really so hard for you to admit you like me?”
“You’re too proud, and if I didn’t come today, how long would you have waited here?”
Li Qing Xue stood up, her face slightly flushed with annoyance. “Are you crazy? Who’s waiting for you?”
“Hah, still refusing to admit it?” Ye Liang Chen shook his head helplessly.
“Your house is in that direction, and there’s also a riverside there. Why come all the way here? Isn’t it because my place is nearby?”
“And earlier, your reaction to hearing my footsteps—your turn-around expression—that says everything.”
“Your subconscious is the truest reflection of what you’re feeling. That reaction—your gaze—revealed it all,” he murmured.
All these clues pointed to one thing: Li Qing Xue wanted to see him, even if she wasn’t willing to admit it openly.
It seemed as if she was suddenly caught off guard, her delicate face flushing even more. A faint blush spread across her cheeks. “You’re talking nonsense! Even if I am waiting for someone, it’s not for you!”
“Hah,” Ye Liang Chen wanted to laugh, but seeing her earnest expression made him pause. An unsettling thought crept in—could she really be waiting for someone else? Someone who isn’t him?
Impossible. They’ve known each other for nine years.
Yes, nine years—not nine days. She wouldn’t be waiting for anyone else.
“Qing Xue, stop joking around. You’re not waiting for me. Who else could you be waiting for?”
“Fine, I admit defeat. I haven’t been angry at you all this time. Can we call it even?” she said softly.
Her words truly made Ye Liang Chen chuckle inwardly.
Apparently, not controlling his feelings and not helping her repeat her senior year was all his fault?
Seeing her smile again, Ye Liang Chen also let out a gentle laugh. Is this what you wanted? Tch, women…
Li Qing Xue took a step back, putting some distance between them. “First of all, I was here waiting for someone—just not you.”
“Second, I don’t think I did anything wrong.”
“Finally, Ye Liang Chen, you really are an idiot— full of yourself,” she snapped.
He was angry now.
Deep down, Ye Liang Chen already felt some irritation bubbling up.
He had tolerated her misunderstanding of his mother before.
He had even let her repeat her senior year after her suspension.
But now she called him an idiot and full of himself—that was the last straw.
“Not waiting for me? Could it be that you’re waiting for Dragon Brother?” he blurted out in annoyance.
And then—he froze.
Li Qing Xue went silent… she didn’t even rebut him.
“Are you really waiting for Dragon Brother?” Ye Liang Chen couldn’t accept it. “Do you even know what kind of person Dragon Brother is? Do you know how disgusting he is? Do you know he forced himself on Hu Yu Ying at such a young age?”
“How could someone so trashy and unworthy have the right to make you wait for him?”
“Stop talking nonsense.” Li Qing Xue believed Dragon Brother wasn’t what he was painted to be. Last time, when she analyzed whether he was dating Hu Yu Ying, she even made him blush. Such a person forced Hu Yu Ying? Impossible.
And Hu Yu Ying, sitting on her bicycle, smiling genuinely—was she being forced? Yeah, right.
“You’re lying? I saw it myself—Dragon Brother forcing Hu Yu Ying—right in her house!”
“Dragon Brother already succeeded with Hu Yu Ying. They’re together now. Do you know what you’re doing? That’s called being a ‘Three’—a mistress!” he exclaimed, mind racing.
Suddenly, it hit him—his words. Oops.
Seeing Li Qing Xue looking hurt, Ye Liang Chen hurriedly explained, “I—I didn’t mean it like that. I just don’t want to see you deceive by Dragon Brother. Men lie all the time. I’m a man, I understand men better…”
Before he finished, Li Qing Xue cut him off: “I hate you!”
Watching her turn away, Ye Liang Chen muttered to himself, “It’s okay. You just haven’t seen who Dragon Brother really is yet. Once you wake up, you’ll realize—I’m actually the one who’s done the most for you. Your ‘White Moonlight’—I’ll keep it for you forever…”
