Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 120

Chapter 120 Hu Yu Ying and Qing Xue

Next morning, bright and early.

The Old Man woke up and, quite instinctively, wandered over to Dragon Brother’s room.

Gawking at the empty space, he chuckled and shut the door again: “Looks like they made up.”

“No wonder they didn’t have that weird vibe yesterday when they came back.”

You gotta hustle early if you’re headed to the market.

Hu Yu Ying was up at dawn, cooking breakfast diligently and patiently waiting on a small stool for Dragon Bro.

After eating, off they went.

“Dragon Bro, slow down! You’re speeding!” Hu Yu Ying yelled from her little stool, waving into the wind.

She could tell today Dragon Bro was buzzing like a bee on honey.

The tricycle zoomed past small cars, dashing at full speed.

Dragon Bro was definitely a bit hyper today; honestly, he’d been cooped up at home so long he’d almost gone stir-crazy. He even said himself he was born to work himself to the bone.

“No worries, Dragon Bro’s riding skills are top-notch. We need to hurry,” she reassured him.

“Alright then.”

Hu Yu Ying always follows her dragon.

It took nearly an hour to reach their destination, even with all that rushing.

By then, there were already tons of people milling around.

Dragon Bro pulled out a cigarette, twirled around a bit, then parked the tricycle in an open space: “This is the spot.”

“Got it.”

Hu Yu Ying jumped off the bike and helped him open a parasol.

Their teamwork hadn’t felt rusty at all despite the days apart.

Soon, their stall was set up.

Looking at the clothes hanging on the parasol, Hu Yu Ying grinned. “This just looks better, doesn’t it?”

She’d been laying the clothes on the ground these days, which was easier to pack away but way less aesthetic.

Much better to see everything hanging nicely.

Finished with setup, Dragon Bro glanced at Hu Yu Ying: “Pull out your phone.”

“Okay,” she said and took her phone out, handing it over.

“Add this friend,” Dragon Bro said, passing her his basic flip phone.

Hu Yu Ying saw the penguin avatar and the note <Li Qing Xue> beside it, hesitated for a moment, then quickly added the penguin account.

After adding, she looked nervously at Dragon Bro, biting her lip, then quickly returned to chat.

She knew it was wrong, but she just couldn’t help sneak a peek.

“Done?”

Suddenly, a voice broke her concentration. Hu Yu Ying hurriedly exited the chat window.

“Look at that, you’re so guilty you’re sweating buckets,” Dragon Bro teased with a grin.

“Take some photos or videos for her. Maybe you guys will even be classmates someday. Stay in touch, build some momentum,” he advised.

“Having a few less friends isn’t bad, but you can never be without friends,” he added.

Li Qing Xue was pretty cool, and her personality balanced Hu Yu Ying well.

They went to the same school, so naturally they could look out for each other. Not bad at all.

Based on Qing Xue’s personality, she’d probably make friends quickly at school—people aren’t meant to be loners. Dragon Bro hoped Hu Yu Ying could make a few more friends, too.

“Got it, Dragon Bro.” Hu Yu Ying obediently pulled out her phone and snapped a few photos of her stall.

Then she turned onto the street, capturing lots of shots of the bustling market that stretched north to south.

Over on the other side, Li Qing Xue, groggy and half-asleep, heard her phone buzzing like crazy. She rubbed her long hair and lazily turned over to grab her charging phone.

When she saw a stranger from an unknown friend sending a photo of the market, she perked up immediately. She tapped to add the friend, then started scrolling through the pictures.

The market stretched densely with all kinds of booths—so novel and exciting.

She clicked on the friend’s avatar to enter their space.

Empty. Completely empty.

She exited, went to the messages interface.

The account was female, named Gū Yuè.

“Gū Yuè? Is that Hu Yu Ying?” Li Qing Xue whispered to herself.

She’d only told Dragon Bro once that she was curious about the lively market and whether there were many fun things to see.

Plus, that alias naturally made her think… Hu Yu Ying was the one hanging out with Dragon Bro now.

For a moment, she froze, then vigorously slapped her face. “Li Qing Xue, what are you thinking? Didn’t you already figure out they’re a couple? Why are you imagining stuff?”

She exited and sent a message in the chat: 【Good morning! (picture)】

“Is that Yu Ying?” she clicked send.

When Hu Yu Ying saw her phone ping, she was nervous at first.

Because she’d only talked to Dragon Bro.

“Dragon Bro, Qing Xue sent me a message,” she said, hesitating. In her heart, she thought Dragon Bro was pretty amazing, able to handle anything.

Dragon Bro nodded without raising his head: “Yeah, today your mission is to chat with your future schoolmate.”

“Okay,” Hu Yu Ying nodded happily and started typing on her phone.

“Qing Xue, Dragon Bro said you wanted to see the market, but right now there’s no crowd. When more people come, it’ll be very lively.”

Soon after she sent the message, Li Qing Xue responded almost instantly: “No worries, I’m just curious. Did you get there early? Have you had breakfast?”

A little greeting like this is the simplest way to strengthen a bond.

Dear readers, there’s more after this chapter! Click to continue reading, more exciting stuff ahead!

At least Hu Yu Ying’s face was bright with a smile after seeing that message.

Dragon Bro watched her giggling with her phone and couldn’t help but shake his head amusedly.

“Excuse me, I gotta hit the bathroom and find out where it is,” he said.

Hu Yu Ying lifted her head, replying cheerfully: “Mhm, I’ll keep an eye on the stall.”

After Dragon Bro left, Hu Yu Ying’s phone kept vibrating.

She looked down and saw a video call invite.

Nervously clenching her hand, she remembered Dragon Bro’s advice. Taking a deep breath, she still tapped accept.

In the next second, Li Qing Xue’s face appeared—the tousled long hair framing a delicate face that looked unruly in the most beautiful way.

“Hello, Qing Xue,” Hu Yu Ying greeted shyly but promptly.

They’d seen each other at school before, but Dragon Bro was always the one chatting with Qing Xue. Hu Yu Ying never really talked to her directly. Now Qing Xue was calling, and Hu Yu Ying felt a bit nervous.

“Wow, Yu Ying, your skin is so good! What brand of moisturizer do you use?” Qing Xue asked, smiling as she looked at Hu Yu Ying’s small face on the screen.

Hearing that, Hu Yu Ying’s cheeks flushed: “Just a regular brand, like Big Bao.”

“And your skin looks really good too,” Qing Xue said sincerely.

“Hehe, thank you,” Hu Yu Ying blushed further, happy that Qing Xue complimented her skin.

In the end, when his body is discovered, he is still clutching half a moldy fried dough stick in his hand. Fully aware of the plot, Long Aotian is determined to change his fate, starting with the female lead! In the beginning, the female lead lacks confidence: “Big brother, I hope I didn’t scare you?” In the middle, the female lead treads carefully: “Brother Long, please don’t hit me, okay?” Later on, the female lead becomes coquettishly clingy: “Aotian, it’s time to pay the ‘public grain’ tonight.” Long Aotian’s legs go weak, and he feels like crying: “I taught you to be thick-skinned, not shameless!”
