Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 139

Chapter 139: Don’t Move, Or I’ll Tell Hu Yu Ying!

“Is school okay for you so far?”

Hu Yu Ying nodded lightly, “It’s okay. Just sometimes still a bit unfamiliar.”

Not being used to being alone, not being able to cook for Dragon Brother every day—coming to this city just feels so unfamiliar.

But she’s gotten used to being around Dragon Brother, used to his maturity and his occasional nonsensical, unpredictable antics.

Classmates in her classes are all very childish—always doing some pointless stuff right in front of her.

But her relationship with her roommate is still quite good—not just in the dorm, but also in class.

And no one’s bothering her anymore.

“What about you, Dragon Brother?” Hu Yu Ying asked back.

“Feeling pretty good,” Dragon Brother replied. “It’s a bit different from what I imagined, but somehow more fun.” He recollected the three buddies back in the dorm, chuckling to himself.

It’s like they’re trying to tick off every regret from high school, one by one, during college.

“Dragon Brother, I think you’ve changed a little.” Hu Yu Ying tilted her head, seriously looking at him.

“Where have I changed?”

“I dunno,” Hu Yu Ying looked a bit downhearted. She doesn’t know where Dragon Brother has changed, but she just feels it.

If she had to pinpoint, it’s like he’s become a little more carefree, like a wall in his heart has had some unintentional cracks.

But no matter how he’s changed, he’s still her Dragon Brother.

“Dragon Brother, can I contact you when I’m free?” Hu Yu Ying whispered. “Or when you’re free, maybe we can talk a little?”

Last time she tried to reach him, he was busy eating with his roommates. Hu Yu Ying was so scared she’d bother him.

Hearing this, Dragon Brother chuckled shyly. He’d been hanging out with his roommates the past few days, totally neglecting his little follower. “Sure.”

Hearing him agree, Hu Yu Ying beamed and shared more about her school life over the last couple of days.

Swapping stories about what they ate every day, how cheap the campus meals are—and somehow, they taste pretty darn good.

Being with Dragon Brother, Hu Yu Ying felt like she could never run out of things to say.

After using the toilet, Li Qing Xue returned to her seat, looking at the dishes she’d just boiled with hot water, softly patting Dragon Brother’s back. “Thanks.”

Dragon Brother raised an eyebrow internally, then subtly adjusted his back and smiled. “Eat more later, it’ll be fine.”

Li Qing Xue’s eyes flickered, then she smiled sweetly. “Okay, I’ll make you so poor, you’ll regret it.”

“Treating you like a meat pawn here, I’m just rushing to run away with Hu Yu Ying!”

“How dare you? If I find you, I’ll bite you to d*ath!” she said, grinning happily because she also imagined Gao Quan being pressed as a meat pawn at a BBQ stall.

“Dragon Brother, don’t treat Qing Xue like a meat pawn,” Hu Yu Ying gently tugged Dragon Brother’s arm and smiled.

“See that? Hu Yu Ying and I are the best. Watch out or we’ll leave you here as a meat pawn!”

A modest meal, but for three people who are thousands of miles from home, brought loads of laughter.

“Are you full?”

“Full x2.”

“Can you ride a bike?” Dragon Brother asked.

Li Qing Xue rolled her eyes at him. “The fruits and cookies you ate were brought over by me on my bike. Can’t you be a little more thoughtful?”

“I can too,” Hu Yu Ying smiled cheerfully—happy that Dragon Brother cares about her.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you back,” Dragon Brother waved his big hand and led the two excited little ones to the scooter rental station.

He opened the navigation on his phone, switched to bike mode—just 3.2 kilometers.

The three of them pedaled carelessly through this unfamiliar neighborhood.

Dragon Brother was in front, with them behind.

The two behind couldn’t help but keep smiling—since they started riding, they hadn’t felt this happy in a long time.

Back when they first learned to ride, following family, it wasn’t this joyful.

Or maybe it was, but time just sapped it all away. This moment, they felt happiness like never before.

They were in their purest, most innocent phase—still unable to understand why someone would say: “I’d rather cry inside a luxury car than ride a bicycle and laugh.”

But for now, they were just happy.

“Wow, this is even more spectacular than in the photos,” Dragon Brother exclaimed as they arrived at the University of Kyoto gates. “Truly the best university in Kyoto.”

“It’s really big inside too. Wanna go for a look?” Li Qing Xue asked.

“Another day. You guys go ahead,” Dragon Brother said, watching their backs as they left. Just as he was about to leave, his phone vibrated twice.

It was Li Qing Xue, her words brief: “Wait, don’t leave yet!”

Dragon Brother was a bit confused but decided to wait for her.

After all, they’re in the same city, friends helping each other—that’s what friends do.

Not long after, Li Qing Xue dashed out of nowhere, panting heavily. She shot a helpless look at Dragon Brother—she was exhausted herself, yet he had a handful of female classmates around him, seemingly asking him for penguins…

Li Qing Xue pulled him aside: “Come with me.”

Without waiting, she turned and headed off.

Dragon Brother looked at a few female classmates, smiling and saying, “I’ll wait for the person coming soon. See you.”

He hurried over to Li Qing Xue: “Hey, what are you doing?”

“Are you worried I might sell you out, big man?” she replied, quickening her steps.

They reached a less crowded spot. Li Qing Xue suddenly stopped and turned to look at him.

Dragon Brother was a bit surprised by her gaze. “Is my face swollen or something?”

Li Qing Xue didn’t reply, just kept gazing at him, her eyes waterily turning red.

“Is something wrong? Don’t tell me you’re going to cry? I’ll hit you, you know!” Dragon Brother couldn’t stand it—girls crying in front of him drove him crazy.

Especially when they start crying, no matter what—he felt it was his fault.

“What’s wrong with me? It’s probably you who’s wrong!”

“What did I do?” Dragon Brother’s mind was still spinning.

“Your back—what happened? Did you get into a fight?”

Li Qing Xue had checked out T University before; everyone there is a sports student. Did they bully Dragon Brother for being from out of town? And then gang up on him?

Otherwise, he was fine when they just arrived. Yet, just a night later, her light touch on his back made him grimace in pain, muscles tense all over.

He tried to pretend everything was fine, but she saw right through.

“Because of… uh, don’t be making trouble…”

“Don’t move, or I’ll tell Hu Yu Ying,” Li Qing Xue sniffed, her voice muffled.

At this, Dragon Brother found it funny but didn’t move a muscle…

The consequence of staying up late reading novels is that one day, after pulling an all-nighter, you close your eyes and open them again, only to find yourself transmigrated into the role of a villainous male supporting character. Readers familiar with urban wish-fulfillment novels know that it is only through the relentless antics of the villainous male supporting character that the plot between the male and female leads can progress. As the villainous male supporting character, Long Aotian not only has to bully the female lead, harass the second female lead, and flirt with the third female lead, but he also has to go all out to antagonize the male lead. In the end, when his body is discovered, he is still clutching half a moldy fried dough stick in his hand. Fully aware of the plot, Long Aotian is determined to change his fate, starting with the female lead! In the beginning, the female lead lacks confidence: “Big brother, I hope I didn’t scare you?” In the middle, the female lead treads carefully: “Brother Long, please don’t hit me, okay?” Later on, the female lead becomes coquettishly clingy: “Aotian, it’s time to pay the ‘public grain’ tonight.” Long Aotian’s legs go weak, and he feels like crying: “I taught you to be thick-skinned, not shameless!”
