Chapter 146: Wanna Make a Bet?
A big A, Hu Yu Ying saw a message pop up on her phone, and her small face lit up with a smile so charming and innocent it could outshine the sun.
Even though the corners of her lips curled up just slightly, it seemed to carry some kind of mysterious, extraordinary charm — one that could easily imprint her smile in someone’s mind.
With a gentle pinch of her finger, she zoomed in on the photo. She could feel her cheeks turning red, completely out of her control.
Dazed, she stared at her phone, completely forgetting to respond to Dragon Brother.
“Yu Ying, have some water.” A figure appeared beside Hu Yu Ying, extending a bottle of water towards her.
It was her classmate, Xue Shao Hua.
Bright and sunny, just the right height, and with a well-proportioned physique— not as beefy as Dragon Brother, but still not bad. With a dash of handsome charm, he attracted the attention of many girls in class.
Like most boys, Xue Shao Hua was naturally drawn to the pretty girls in the class; after all, who wouldn’t want to have a romance in college?
Not to mention, Xue Shao Hua had a few advantages of his own.
Originally dazedly gazing at Dragon Brother’s photo with a silly grin, Hu Yu Ying now composed herself and shook her head gently, “I’m not thirsty, thanks.”
Even though she added the word “thanks,” anyone could hear the chilly rejection in her tone.
Xue Shao Hua simply smiled, unfazed.
Isn’t it funny how boys are? The more easily obtainable something is, the less they tend to cherish it; meanwhile, something that eludes them brings a strange sense of satisfaction when they conquer it.
At least that’s how Xue Shao Hua felt. Hu Yu Ying was an absolute gem in both looks and figure, especially since she was a little indifferent to him. The thrill in trying to win over such a girl was just too good to resist.
The key was, he truly didn’t want to give up on someone like Hu Yu Ying, because no other girl he’d been with even came close to her.
“You really don’t need to be so resistant to me. I just want to be friends,” Xue Shao Hua said, his smile growing wider, his sunny disposition shining even brighter.
Hearing this from him didn’t sound strange at all.
But Hu Yu Ying was no longer the shy girl who would turn beet red just speaking to a boy.
“There are so many classmates; why pick me to be friends with?”
“You really think befriending a girl like me is just a friendly gesture?”
“If you have feelings for me, I should let you know, my heart already belongs to someone else.”
Her words left Xue Shao Hua momentarily speechless. He didn’t expect this delicate girl, looking all soft and sweet, to be so straightforward.
Based on his past experiences, shy girls like her usually blushed just talking to a guy; they were the easiest to charm if approached carefully.
Who knew this seemingly soft and adorable girl would lay her feelings right out in the open?
He chuckled awkwardly, “Yu Ying, are you saying you have some…”
“Just call me Hu Yu Ying, or Classmate Hu.” She interrupted him before he could finish.
Xue Shao Hua’s mouth twitched as he glanced at the classmates around him, who were now all watching, and nervously replied, “Classmate Hu, do you think there’s some misunderstanding here?”
Hu Yu Ying shook her head lightly, “Nope, before this, I didn’t know you, so there’s no misunderstanding between us.”
“Well, that’s good. That’s good.” Xue Shao Hua smiled widely, feigning relief while scratching his head.
To anyone passing by, he looked just like a simple, sunny boy.
But Hu Yu Ying felt nothing from this display; her gaze remained unaffected.
Seeing this, Xue Shao Hua’s smile froze just a tad before he turned and left.
Once Xue Shao Hua was out of sight, Hu Yu Ying pulled out her phone again, joyfully relishing the handsome picture that Dragon Brother had sent her, as if this little interruption could never dampen her mood for admiring Dragon Brother.
Meanwhile, the dejected Xue Shao Hua returned to some male classmates, shrugging helplessly.
“Didn’t go well, huh? I told you, with a pretty girl like that, how could she possibly be single?”
“Yeah! She’s cute, has a nice voice, and is sweet-natured — a total ideal! Even if she’s single, she’ll have guys lining up to chase her!”
“Man, if the most handsome guy in our class can’t get her, what chance do we have?”
“Failed?” Xue Shao Hua chuckled lightly, “Excuse me? Where do you see failure in my game plan?”
“What do you mean? Didn’t Hu Yu Ying just say she has someone in her heart?”
“Even if she does, can you guarantee they won’t break up?”
“Plus, from what I’ve been observing, no guy has been seen around her. In other words, her so-called boyfriend is probably not at A University.”
“Could it be a long-distance relationship?”
“Regardless, as long as they’re not together, my chances are boundless. There’s no wall that can’t be climbed; it all depends on how you dig!”
Xue Shao Hua spoke with confidence, his eyes glancing towards Hu Yu Ying’s figure in the distance, “A woman like her, chasing after her will feel so rewarding.”
“Whoa, that girl really is something.”
“Seriously, compared to Hu Yu Ying, I’d say each has their own allure.”
“Wait, they look like they know each other…”
Hu Yu Ying spotted the finance majors dispersing from their group and decided to head to the supermarket to grab two bottles of water.
“It’s so hot, it’s unbearable. Yu Ying, you’re the best! I’m melting here!”
Li Qing Xue started whining from afar, looking like a melting snowman.
The loose military training outfit she wore did no harm to her looks; if anything, it highlighted her petite charm even more.
With a touch of a pout, she walked over to Hu Yu Ying, brightening the atmosphere.
Both stunning in their own right yet distinctly different in personality.
Hu Yu Ying gave off a vibe of obedient grace, reminiscent of the classical beauties from ancient times.
This girl, however, radiated vivacious energy, the very essence of youthful exuberance; her beauty felt free.
Li Qing Xue approached, skipping the water for now, and instead, wrapped Hu Yu Ying in a hug, “You’re the best! I’m dying for a drink.”
Hu Yu Ying chuckled, feeling that with Li Qing Xue around, it was impossible to be in a bad mood, “Why don’t you go and rest for a bit?”
Seeing this, Xue Shao Hua smirked confidently, “Hey guys, how about we make a bet?”
“A bet on what?”
“A bet on whether I can win over Hu Yu Ying in three months…”
