Chapter 155: I Think I Might Like Dragon Brother a Little
Back at the dormitory door, before even opening it, the ruckus inside shocked me silly: “Holy cow, are these guys nuts?”
I pushed open the door—music blaring at maximum volume.
Inside, three big guys were shirtless. One was twisting his hips in a weird dance, another was twirling around while gripping his short-sleeves mid-air, and the third was sitting at the table, chain-smoking and scribbling furiously.
“Downstairs didn’t come up looking for you guys? That’s weird.”
They chuckled menacingly: “Old Arrogant is back, huh?”
“Why do I feel you guys are extra hyped today?”
Xu Shuai stopped his hip-shaking and said excitedly, “I sat with Wang Li Juan today and ate a meal. We even talked!”
Li Long Long tossed his shirt aside like it was trash: “Same here. I also talked with Han Xiao Jing. Turns out it’s not as hard as I imagined.”
Dragon Brother nodded seriously, then approached Huang Fei. “And you?”
Huang Fei exhaled smoke, snuffed out his cigarette, and grabbed a notebook. “Old Arrogant, check out my notes.”
“Today, I hung out with Shen Meng Jie. I realized many of my theoretical shortcomings. I’m trying to fix them. One day when I catch up to Shen Meng Jie, I’ll publish my book. I want to become the founder of the love industry!”
Dragon Brother nodded again—correctly, this time. Then he strolled to the balcony, flung the window open, and let the smoke drift out.
Gazing at the sun, Dragon Brother stretched lazily. “Today, the moon’s really round.”
“Yeah,” Hu Yu Ying looked at the moon on the horizon. “Tonight’s moon is absolutely gorgeous.”
“Yu Ying, do you know? You really look just like Dragon Brother right now,” Li Qing Xue teased with a grin.
Hearing this, Hu Yu Ying froze for a moment, then smiled and looked at her. “Really?”
“Uh-huh,” Li Qing Xue nodded. “When we were by the water at the bay, Dragon Brother was looking at the setting sun—same expression, same tone. You two are like two peas in a pod.”
Hearing that she resembled Dragon Brother made Yu Ying’s heart flutter. She propped her chin on one hand, gazing at the moon. “I wonder what Brother is doing right now.”
Even though they were in the same city, not far apart, they couldn’t see each other anytime they wanted anymore.
So Yu Ying missed him a lot, constantly wanting to appear in front of him—even if just sitting silently together was fine.
Missing someone doesn’t lessen with time; it only stacks up, deeper and deeper…
“Hmph, that guy? No need to worry about him,” Li Qing Xue muttered. “Wherever he is, he’s probably doing just fine. He’s way better than us.”
But then she remembered she had made him wait at the school gate earlier, and in just a tiny bit of time away, a girl had approached him wanting his contact info. That made her mad anew!
Lost in thought, Li Qing Xue bit her lip and tentatively asked Hu Yu Ying, “Yu Ying, you’ve known Dragon Brother for a while, right? Do you… know what kind of girl he likes?”
Her voice was so shy, red creeping up her ears, trembling slightly but trying to sound casual. “You, uh, know what kind of girl Dragon Brother likes?”
After saying that, Li Qing Xue’s face blushed, shy and adorable.
Hearing that, Hu Yu Ying was stunned, somewhat caught off guard by the sudden confession. Then she smiled shyly: “Really?”
“Mm-hmm,” Li Qing Xue nodded. “When we were by the water—by the river—they say Dragon Brother was looking at the sunset, just like you’re doing now. His expression and tone, exactly the same. You guys look so similar.”
Hearing Li Qing Xue say she and Dragon Brother were alike, Yu Ying felt warm inside. She rested her chin on her hand and gazed at the moon. “I wonder what Brother is doing right now?”
Frankly, even though they were in the same city, not far apart, they couldn’t meet whenever they wanted anymore.
Yu Ying missed him terribly, feeling an almost uncontrollable urge to see him—just being near him, not saying a word, sitting quietly, was enough.
Distance and time didn’t diminish her feelings; rather, they made her miss him more…
“Hmph, that guy? No need to worry. Wherever he is, he probably gets by just fine. He’s much stronger than us,” she insisted.
But then she remembered that she had told him to wait at the school gate, and within moments of leaving, a girl had approached him asking for his contact info. That really riled her up!
Her thoughts drifting there, Li Qing Xue looked at Hu Yu Ying with a tentative glance and asked softly, “Yu Ying, that, um… you’ve known Dragon Brother for a long time, right? Do you… know what kind of girls he likes?”
Seeing her hesitation and blush, Yu Ying’s heart wavered. She didn’t know how to respond, feeling a strange, confusing mixture of feelings inside.
Her eyes dimmed slightly, a sense of emptiness spreading through her. It was a feeling she’d experienced before meeting Dragon Brother—almost like standing on uncertain ground, gasping for air.
Does Qing Xue like Brother too?
She’d never considered it before, because she always saw her friend as just a friend of Dragon Brother’s. Now that Qing Xue admitted this so openly, her mind went blank.
“What’s wrong, Yu Ying?” Li Qing Xue asked, noticing her silence and concern.
Hu Yu Ying instinctively shook her head, her gaze dull. “You… you like Brother?”
Despite her bashfulness, Qing Xue nodded softly. “Yeah.” Her shy smile on her delicate face was so beautiful.
“I used to think you and Dragon Brother were a couple,” Qing Xue admitted, “but later I heard you say you’re not. So, I want to try.”
Qing Xue was proud too—if Dragon Brother and Hu Yu Ying were a couple, she’d bury her feelings deep, maintaining only a friendship, sharing meals and chatting, without causing trouble or pressure.
Dragon Brother was wonderful. Falling for someone like that, she thought, was only natural.
In the beginning, Qing Xue had planned to wait, to understand more. But seeing her girl classmates actively exchange contact info with Dragon Brother, or inviting him out to eat, made her less willing to wait.
Because she understood how that girl felt after receiving help from Dragon Brother.
She had been helped by him at the river’s edge too, so she really comprehended that feeling.
It was like a tiny beam of light in the heart, warming everything inside.
Recalling how Dragon Brother pulled her into his embrace, she felt a seed of something quietly growing—something she couldn’t quite name.
Seeing Qing Xue, eager to share everything, Hu Yu Ying instinctively shook her head. She didn’t want to, she didn’t dare—and inside, fear and unease surged anew.
“Don’t you even know?” Qing Xue noticed Hu Yu Ying shaking her head and assumed she didn’t know what Dragon Brother liked either.
