Chapter 235: Love Is Out of Your Control
And so, she stood in front of Dragon Brother, extending her palm toward him.
“What are you doing?”
“My underwear, please. I need to wash it.”
Dragon Brother instinctively shook his head. “I’ll wash it myself tonight.”
Seeing the look on his face, Hu Yu Ying pouted, her gaze dimming. She gently tugged at his shirt. “Dragon Brother, do you still see me as an outsider?”
When Dragon Brother noticed her reaction, he wanted to take her hand but Hu Yu Ying deftly stepped aside, her doe-like eyes showing a hint of reluctance. Nope, she wasn’t letting Dragon Brother hold her hand.
Dragon Brother helplessly explained, “I-I didn’t mean that! I just… I can wash this myself, you know…”
Afterward, he secretly glanced at Hu Yu Ying and found her staring at the ground, lost in thought.
In fact, her emotional swings were quite apparent to anyone paying attention.
“Dragon Brother, you’re just used to being alone,” she said, looking seriously at him. “You’re my boyfriend; why can’t I wash for you?”
With a sniffle, she added, “Dragon Brother, I’m your girlfriend now! I can take care of you and do anything you need…”
Her gaze was so earnest and pure that Dragon Brother felt a bit intimidated. Especially after that little sniff, he thought if she cried, he’d feel awful too.
Faced with Hu Yu Ying’s outstretched hand again, Dragon Brother awkwardly scratched his head. Seeing her eyes begin to shimmer with unshed tears, he hurriedly handed over the tightly clutched underwear.
Upon receiving the underwear, Hu Yu Ying looked down at the brand new pair she had bought.
With her long hair cascading down, no one noticed the happy smile creeping onto her face.
Sometimes, good friends’ advice actually works—especially when Dragon Brother just can’t stand seeing her sad…
Through the door, Dragon Brother watched as Hu Yu Ying sat on a small stool, intently washing his underwear.
What kind of feelings were surging within him?
At that moment, all he wanted was to hold the girl in front of him, do nothing else—just hold her, hold her tight.
And, in fact, Dragon Brother did just that.
He wrapped his arms around Hu Yu Ying from behind, greedily inhaling her faint, sweet scent.
Feeling his embrace, Hu Yu Ying’s movements froze for a moment. She lifted her hand and gently stroked the side of Dragon Brother’s face. “Dragon Brother, even a little sidekick can grow up; I can take care of you too.”
Since becoming Dragon Brother’s little sidekick, she had always relied on him to take care of her.
But she really wanted to do some things for him too.
Over the past eighteen years, she often had to fend for herself; she knew she could take care of herself well.
Now, she wanted to take care of Dragon Brother, and she genuinely believed she could do it.
It was Dragon Brother’s presence that added a splash of color to her life.
Like a shiny candy wrapper under the sun…
After a while, Hu Yu Ying seemed to sense something.
Looking up at the hand resting on her head, she tilted her face up against Dragon Brother’s shoulder and smiled softly at him. “Dragon Brother, you’re so annoying…”
Dragon Brother’s heart raced. He gently pinched her chin, guiding her to come closer.
The little girl’s lips were so sweet…
A gust of wind blew, causing the leaves in the yard to scatter across the ground…
…
On the way back, Li Qing Xue glanced at Lin Wan Ning, her mind brimming with questions.
“Wan Ning, you seem awfully eager to get Yu Ying and Dragon Brother together.”
Hearing this, Lin Wan Ning nodded, not denying it.
But this only fueled Li Qing Xue’s curiosity, so she tentatively asked, “Are you hoping Yu Ying would quickly get together with Dragon Brother and then forget about it?”
That was the only conclusion Li Qing Xue could come up with.
Lin Wan Ning gently swayed her arms, gazing up at the sky, as the sunlight filtered through the leaves in a mosaic of sparkling rays.
The soft light fell on Lin Wan Ning’s lovely face, adding a touch of warmth to her cool demeanor.
“Do you really think someone like my brother could just forget someone because they said so?”
Li Qing Xue felt she already knew the answer. Dragon Brother wasn’t particularly outstanding, but there was something about him—an undeniable charm that captivated people.
The more you spent time with him, the more his charisma revealed itself.
Were there guys more handsome than Dragon Brother? Yes.
Were there guys with better physiques? Absolutely.
But none of them were Dragon Brother…
“I can’t quite understand you right now,” Li Qing Xue said honestly.
“I’m really simple, but there are some things I can’t tell you,” Lin Wan Ning replied playfully, her ethereal face breaking into a charming grin, which was actually quite heartwarming.
“It’s definitely not anything bad, so don’t worry!” Looking at Li Qing Xue’s puzzled expression, Lin Wan Ning chuckled. “Sometimes, falling for someone just feels so uncontrollable.”
“It’s unrivaled by anything else.”
Clearly knowing it was wrong, yet her body still yearned to get closer to him.
It was terrifying, and tough to shake off; even if she knew in her head it wasn’t the right time, she just couldn’t help it… it felt so helpless…
Lin Wan Ning didn’t directly answer Li Qing Xue’s question because she still had her own fixations.
Everyone has their unique personality.
Sometimes, Lin Wan Ning envied Li Qing Xue’s ability to pick things up and drop them without a hitch—maybe it just came with a complicated process…
She was much more stubborn compared to Li Qing Xue.
But they were still good friends, the best of friends, best buddies.
If someone had to shoulder the blame, Li Qing Xue’s personality wouldn’t allow it, because she held onto her pride.
But Lin Wan Ning was different; she had once been happy, only to have that happiness snatched away by her own mother.
She often said she didn’t hate them, but did she really care at all?
Thankfully, she had found her brother—the one who gave her so much security, the one who would pull her up even in darkness.
That’s why Lin Wan Ning wasn’t as proud, and even harbored a kind of obsessive longing.
The first time she was cast aside, her own parents didn’t want her.
The second time, they had their own flesh and bl**d.
She didn’t want to be abandoned again; if she could hold onto something, she would do anything and wouldn’t regret it…
【Thanks to all the sisters and brothers sending power! I knew that as long as we all join forces, little sparks can become a blaze. Thank you!】
