“I really didn’t expect Dragon Brother to be such a person. During our usual interactions, I didn’t notice a thing. Are you really not lying to me?”
Shen Meng Jie looked genuinely surprised, with a hint of confusion sparkling in her eyes, perfectly feeding Ye Liang Chen’s desire to show off.
“Sometimes, you really can’t judge a book by its cover. Dragon Brother knows how to put on a disguise. If you hadn’t met me, once his true nature was exposed, only you would get hurt.”
“I know it sounds unbelievable that I suddenly tell you all this. You might think there’s no such evil person in this world. But that’s the truth — Dragon Brother’s nastiness far exceeds your imagination.”
Ye Liang Chen spoke earnestly, almost kneeling on the ground, desperate to make Shen Meng Jie believe him. He almost swore on the spot, praying to the gods — anything to prove his sincerity.
The reason for all this drama? Ye Liang Chen saw in Shen Meng Jie a shot at beating Dragon Brother and reclaiming what was originally his — hope wrapped in revenge.
He wanted to use Shen Meng Jie to tell Hu Yu Ying, Li Qing Xue, and Lin Wan Ning they all got the wrong man. Dragon Brother is a woman-chasing scumbag, one who loves one and chases the next — always craving novelty.
Only by doing this could he hope to shatter their illusions about Dragon Brother.
On another front, the harder Ye Liang Chen showed his earnest sincerity, the deeper the impression he left in Shen Meng Jie’s mind.
He was confident — with his looks, aura, and this intense devotion, Shen Meng Jie would fall head over heels for him.
Everything seemed like a dream — he would become her little sun, her one true ‘star’ of affection.
“Don’t do this. I—I believe you.” Seeing Ye Liang Chen kneel and ready to swear again, Shen Meng Jie took a step back. Unintentionally or not, she was standing right in front of his kneeling position. Coincidentally, her finger brushed against her phone — and bingo — she accidentally switched it to camera mode.
Hearing her say she believed him, Ye Liang Chen confidently flicked his hair back and flashed a smile. “Thanks for your trust. I knew I wouldn’t have wasted my effort.”
“Can you just get up now?”
Only then did Ye Liang Chen realize he was still on his knees. He hurriedly stood up, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Sorry, I got a little eager. Got a bit out of line.”
“Do you hate Dragon Brother?” Shen Meng Jie asked softly.

Ye Liang Chen clenched his fist tightly. “Hate? How could I not hate him?”
“There’s a coffee shop up ahead. How about I treat you to a coffee?” Shen Meng Jie softly comforted, not wanting to look like a fool standing here.
“That’s too abrupt of me. As a gentleman, I should be the one treating you,” Ye Liang Chen said with a charming smile.
Great, it seemed he had already piqued her interest. She even called him Meng Jie — and she hadn’t objected. d*mn, this invincible charm of mine…
At the café, Shen Meng Jie crossed her legs and quietly looked at Ye Liang Chen.
“Meng Jie, wait a moment while I gather my thoughts,” he said, taking a deep breath. His mind kept replaying Dragon Brother slapping himself.
In the next second, he clenched his fists. “Hate, how could I not hate him?”
“You have no idea what’s happened to me.”
In Ye Liang Chen’s recounting:
He met, befriended, fell in love with the treasure girl. But Dragon Brother, that beast, took advantage of his absence to force her.

“What’s wrong with Xiao Jing?”
“Ah, I see. I’ll head back right away.”
After hanging up, Shen Meng Jie looked at Ye Liang Chen. “I think I have to go back to school.”
“Can we add a penguin on our contact list?”
Shen Meng Jie blushed, her cheeks adorable in her subtle flirtation. She nodded. “If you have any plans to deal with that nasty Dragon Brother, you must tell me…”
“Don’t worry. For you, I’ll make sure Dragon Brother doesn’t hurt you again!”
Watching her leave, Ye Liang Chen curved his lips in a confident smile, lightly tossing his hair — everything was under control, just as he predicted.

Shen Meng Jie took out her phone, turned off her pre-set alarm with a subtle smile — sexy and charming at the same time.
Feeling lazy, she stretched her waist and headed toward the campus.
Along the path, the rustling sound of trees in the wind accompanied her, each sway shedding some yellowing leaves.
When the weather gets colder, these leaves will float down, blanket the ground — it will be so beautiful then.
She crouched down, picked up a leaf, and her mood suddenly lifted, turned lovely.
She opened her phone, checked her class chat group.
Clicked into Dragon Brother’s profile, sent a friend request, and added a message:
“[I’m Shen Meng Jie. Hey, Dragon Brother, did you offend someone?]”
Shortly after, she received a reply: “[Hmm, how do you know I offended a woman?]”
