Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 311

Chapter 311: Competition for Affection, The Fair Big Sister

Staring at that distant figure’s back, biting her lip, slowing her steps, she tiptoed silently over.

She raised her hand to cover the other’s eyes and cooed with a husky voice, “Guess who I am! Guess right, and you get a reward.”

“Really? What kind of reward?” Lin Wan Ning giggled.

“Um…” For a moment, she couldn’t think of any reward, so she said, “Anyway, there’s a reward! Just guess already.”

“Then I guess you’re Li Qing Xue,” Wan Ning said with a smile, her eyes still covered.

“Oh wow, how did you figure it out?” Li Qing Xue loosened her grip on Wan Ning’s eyes, puzzled. She’d been speaking in a husky voice, which should’ve been a giveaway.

“Your scent.” Wan Ning pointed to Li Qing Xue. “Everyone’s smell is different. We’ve taken so many baths together, I remember yours.”

Finishing, she suddenly started to tickle Qing Xue. “You said guessing right gets a reward? So how about you reward me with a tickle attack?”

“No way! Trying to take advantage of me again?” Qing Xue pouted.

“Let’s team up and do the same to Hu Yu Ying later,” Li Qing Xue suggested mischievously, avoiding her tickles.

“Sure! I was just about to help you,” Wan Ning grinned, “but now I think it should be me and Wan Ning tickling you together.”

Just then, Hu Yu Ying overheard and joined in, laughing. “Sounds fun!”

After a little chaos and playing around, the three of them decided to go exploring the campus of A University.

The campus was huge—so huge, in fact, that if you weren’t deliberately seeking it out, you probably wouldn’t run into it by accident.

Despite having been students there for a long time, Hu Yu Ying and Li Qing Xue admitted there were many parts of the campus they’d never explored.

So, with Wan Ning arriving, the three started wandering aimlessly across the grounds.

“Your school’s too d*mn big!” Wan Ning exclaimed, eyes wide. “No wonder it’s one of the top universities in the country.”

Glancing at the two, she added, “Looks like you two used to be straight-up nerds, huh?”

“Me and your brother were in the same school, but we barely crossed paths,” Hu Yu Ying answered, reminiscing. “Back then, his nickname wasn’t exactly flattering—he was basically the school’s top thug.”

Qing Xue nodded in agreement. “I never really crossed paths with Dragon Brother before. He was a good student in teachers’ eyes, but he was also the school’s troublemaker.”

Hu Yu Ying nodded, recalling. “He was pretty intimidating at first, yeah, but he was good to me. Helped me out of being bullied, guided me to be more confident, and made me into someone who could talk and make friends.”

“Same here,” Qing Xue added. “I met Dragon Brother during the second half of senior year. I was feeling pretty down, so I took a walk by the river. He was sunbathing there, and when he heard me grumble, he threw in a comment. That’s how we started talking.”

She grinned. “He’s really smart—knows how to see through problems. He doesn’t tell you what to do, but he helps you understand the pros and cons and clears up all the doubts in your mind.”

“Yeah, he feels very mature,” Hu Yu Ying agreed. “When he told me to call him big brother, he’s been protecting me ever since.”

“People say Dragon Brother isn’t good, but in my eyes, he’s perfect,” Qing Xue said softly.

Hearing their stories, Wan Ning sighed quietly. “Turns out, a person can really change this much.”

Long ago, she had been desperate to hear her brother talk about how he met Yu Ying. Back then, his words carried a strong sense of alienation.

Seeing how both Hu Yu Ying and Qing Xue described his growth during high school, she felt like something had happened to her brother—that only then could he have transformed so completely in an instant.

She didn’t know what, but as long as her brother was happy and didn’t feel lonely, that was enough.

She looked at Hu Yu Ying with envy—she was the reason her brother found meaning again.

If she hadn’t met Yu Ying, her brother wouldn’t be in Kyoto, and she wouldn’t have met such a kind and good man—someone who would pull her out of the abyss when she fell.

That’s why Hu Yu Ying was so important in her brother’s heart…

The three little ones glanced at the time and headed toward the Main Campus gate.

“From now on, Yu Ying will have someone to send to and from class! How jealous we are,” Qing Xue teased.

“It’s because you talk too much,” Wan Ning groaned.

“Story time,” Qing Xue smirked.

Hu Yu Ying beamed happily, recounting what had happened. “Brother thought he was being tricked, so he bought an electric scooter to pick me up all day.”

“Shouldn’t you be more thankful?” Qing Xue said smugly. “If I hadn’t told Dragon Brother about it, you wouldn’t have gotten to see what a real man’s responsibilities look like.”

“That’s right,” Hu Yu Ying added with a grin. “From now on, I’ll make lots of delicious food for you.”

“And what about me?” Qing Xue asked.

“Look, Wan Ning is fighting for my attention too,” Hu Yu Ying teased.

Wan Ning looked amused. “We’re all good sisters. Everything’s shared—delicious food too.”

“Big sister is the fairest,” Wan Ning said, pouting at Qing Xue.

They all burst into laughter together.

The consequence of staying up late reading novels is that one day, after pulling an all-nighter, you close your eyes and open them again, only to find yourself transmigrated into the role of a villainous male supporting character. Readers familiar with urban wish-fulfillment novels know that it is only through the relentless antics of the villainous male supporting character that the plot between the male and female leads can progress. As the villainous male supporting character, Long Aotian not only has to bully the female lead, harass the second female lead, and flirt with the third female lead, but he also has to go all out to antagonize the male lead. In the end, when his body is discovered, he is still clutching half a moldy fried dough stick in his hand. Fully aware of the plot, Long Aotian is determined to change his fate, starting with the female lead! In the beginning, the female lead lacks confidence: “Big brother, I hope I didn’t scare you?” In the middle, the female lead treads carefully: “Brother Long, please don’t hit me, okay?” Later on, the female lead becomes coquettishly clingy: “Aotian, it’s time to pay the ‘public grain’ tonight.” Long Aotian’s legs go weak, and he feels like crying: “I taught you to be thick-skinned, not shameless!”
