Chapter 353: This Time, I Won’t Be Easily Fooled by You
“Hey, where did Dragon Brother take you just now?” Li Qing Xue whispered, eyes filled with curiosity.
Girls are just naturally nosy, especially someone like Li Qing Xue.
Lin Wan Ning didn’t ask outright, but her eyes practically shouted, “I want to know too!”
But more than curiosity, she hoped Hu Yu Ying and Big Brother were doing just fine.
It’s a weird kind of hope.
From the moment Dragon Brother took all the blame onto himself, Lin Wan Ning knew—there was no way she’d ever fall for another man.
But if she could just stay by his side forever, honestly, what did any of that matter?
Hu Yu Ying’s cheeks flushed when she remembered the name on the house deed—it belonged to her. He really did give her a home, a proper one.
“All good,” she turned away, a subtle smile hiding at the corner of her lips.
But with the three of them sitting so close, Hu Yu Ying’s little gestures—though she thought she’d hidden them well—weren’t fooling anyone. All her tiny movements, all her little expressions, were plain as day.
“Why are you so happy all of a sudden?” Li Qing Xue teased with a grin.
“Hey, sister, maybe you should go learn acting. Your smile’s about to crack your face,” Lin Wan Ning chuckled, wrapping her arms around Hu Yu Ying’s tiny waist.
Since her secret was out, Hu Yu Ying just gave up and looked at Dragon Brother with a smirk: “There’s one big fool.”
Really, a true fool—he wasn’t even scared after signing his name and then just walking away.
He’s so nice, yet…
Her gaze drifted to Lin Wan Ning.
Lin Wan Ning lowered her eyes in embarrassment, knowing full well how much Ah Ying wouldn’t be okay if the situation were reversed. She’d never be willing to accept it.
Secretly, she swore to do everything she could to make up for her sister.
Next moment, a white fingertip gently lifted her chin. Hu Yu Ying’s finger traced from her chin to her cheek: “Call me ‘sister’ one more time.”
“Sister,” Lin Wan Ning’s cold little face blushed, her eyes shimmering with water.
“Once the house is remodeled, you guys can move in,” Hu Yu Ying softly said, glancing at the nearly finished main house.
Actually, the master bedroom was pretty much done now. Soon, they’d pick out furniture. After winter, every house would be finished.
This is their home.
“Okay,” Lin Wan Ning whispered, obedient.
They had all agreed before—they’d move in together once it was done. But after all this, Lin Wan Ning felt she had no face left to mention it again.
Li Qing Xue sighed silently.
Ah Ying didn’t know what was happening yet. It looks like she had to act quickly.
Get Dragon Brother under her heel early, guide him back onto the right path—she could bear the burden and put an end to this whole mess.
Thinking this, Li Qing Xue shot a resentful eye at Dragon Brother, rolling her eyes at him.
No matter when, a girl’s dignity and innocence are always a must. Whatever causes a girl to lose her innocence, someone’s gotta be responsible.
Hopefully, her getting involved would wake Dragon Brother up.
Dragon Brother, already sidelined by the three little ones, suddenly felt puzzled when Li Qing Xue shot him a cold glare.
But looking at the three kids standing together, he sighed—fine, whatever, just give her the white eye.
Because of Wan Ning’s thing, his status at home had plummeted fast.
Now he even had to worry about annoying Ah Ying. Tonight, sleep on the couch it was.
Luckily, it was early dark now.
After Lin Wan Ning and Li Qing Xue left, Dragon Brother hurriedly closed the door and went back to the Little Girl.
Watching her quietly sit on the bench, he sat beside her.
“It’s cold. Let’s go back to the room,” he said.
Hu Yu Ying shot him an annoyed look. “Not going.”
Seeing the Little Girl still a bit upset, Dragon Brother softly patted her head, with a hint of coaxing: “What will it take for you to go back to the room?”
“You’re a big dummy,” Hu Yu Ying muttered under her breath.
“What?”
Not happy with that answer, she turn her innocent little face aside: “I’m just not going back.”
Dragon Brother, helpless, clenched his teeth: “I’m truly a big dummy.”
“Hmph, it’s no use anymore. Now you’re just saying Dragon Brother is a big dummy,” she pouted, adorable and stubborn all at once, making him both laugh and feel helpless.
Finally, he just scooped her up at the waist.
Hu Yu Ying, momentarily unprepared, was suddenly lifted off the ground, and she instinctively clung to Dragon Brother’s neck, startled.
“Go to sleep in the room.”
“It’s only six! I don’t want to sleep,” Hu Yu Ying refused.
Dragon Brother looked at her mischievous little face, grinning wickedly, “Aren’t you scared?”
This morning, Hu Yu Ying had been super proactive. Nearly knocked Dragon Brother off his feet—seriously, Ah Ying was quite daring.
She snorted: “Who’s afraid? The book says only a tired ox lowers its head.”
She pinched his face playfully, then whispered: “You better restrain yourself, don’t just think about that stuff. Besides, I haven’t officially forgiven you yet.”
“So I’ll think of a way to make Little Girl forgive me,” he said, kicking the door shut with a stomp—a resounding silence in the room as if the whole world paused.
He approached the bed, intending to put her down, but she clung to his neck and refused to let go.
He chuckled softly: “What’s wrong? Should I say Dragon Brother is a big dummy to make you get down?”
Knowing he was joking around, Hu Yu Ying tightened her arms fiercely—she wouldn’t let go.
“I won’t get down this time!”
“I won’t be so easily fooled again!”
In her heart, she had already forgiven him—just stubborn pride holding her back.
Dragon Brother knew her too well. She’d willingly go along with him forever if he kept acting like this.
Lowering his voice, he leaned into her ear and whispered, “Looks like Little Girl really enjoys this kind of position.”
Hu Yu Ying suddenly remembered how Dragon Brother had carried her earlier…
Instant embarrassment and annoyance flooded her.
She had genuinely forgiven him—until he said that. Now she decided she wouldn’t forgive him—at least not yet.
Feeling Dragon Brother’s mischievous hands, Hu Yu Ying hurriedly shoved him away and jumped onto the bed.
She pulled a pillow in the middle of the bed, drawing a clear ‘line.’
“No crossing boundaries,” she said, turning her back to him.
But then, Dragon Brother snatched the pillow away instantly and wrapped his arms around her.
She struggled for a moment.
Suddenly, he let out a boo-boo.
In a panic, Hu Yu Ying quickly turned to look at him—ready to yell at him…
