Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 365

Chapter 365: Maybe I’d Actually Want One More Little Sister

“I just know Qing Xue would be thrilled if she found out,” Lin Wan Ning said excitedly, grinning like she’d just scored the lottery. “You don’t even realize it, but Qing Xue once told me she dreams about the three of us sharing a bed—long talks all night, hugging tight… the whole nine yards.”

Hu Yu Ying chuckled a little, and honestly, she liked that feeling too.

Sometimes Hu Yu Ying wondered if their friendship was written in the stars—or maybe just cursed to be so perfect. At school, in the dorms, in class—she’d met lots of friends. But none of them made her as happy as Qing Xue and Wan Ning did when they were all together.

She believed Qing Xue felt the same. Ever since she stopped staying in the dorm, her smile seemed to have gone missing, like a magic trick gone wrong.

That was why Hu Yu Ying broached the idea of Qing Xue staying over—she wanted her friend back. Only, thanks to Ye Liang Chen’s latest “incident,” everything was moving faster than expected.

The room wasn’t even finished yet—still full of construction noise, with workers running around like headless chickens. But hey, there’s always a workaround: just leave one room unrénovated for now, and when everything else’s nice and shiny, renovate that one last.

She shared her plan with Lin Wan Ning, and the girl nodded like it was the easiest thing in the world.

“Thanks, sis! You’re the best sister anyone could ask for,” Wan Ning said, leaning in to give Hu Yu Ying a quick kiss on the cheek.

Hu Yu Ying laughed, rubbing her cheek where Wan Ning had pecked her. “You’re so happy for no reason.”

“Of course I am! Thank you guys for being in my life—I’m truly happy,” Wan Ning said, voice catching just for a moment.

Seeing her like that, Hu Yu Ying pulled her into a hug. “I used to be pretty lonely. Thought I’d gotten used to it, actually. But then Dragon Bro told me life isn’t just loneliness—it’s about freedom and longing.”

He wanted her to love everything about the world, to have hopes and dreams for herself. And so, she started expecting more from herself—more happiness, more adventures.

“If they don’t like you, then don’t like them back,” Dragon Bro said. “No big deal. There are always people who will like you around.”

Wan Ning bumped her head against Hu Yu Ying’s neck, showing her true self. She wasn’t usually that emotional—pretty much a straight-arrow girl. But with Hu Yu Ying, she could be real: happy or sad, it didn’t matter.

Her big sister always took care of her.

She rested her head on Hu Yu Ying’s shoulder, whispering softly, “Back then, I felt like I was just a puppet on a string, moving along a preset path. But meeting you guys—when everything snapped into focus—it was like a breath of fresh air.”

Hu Yu Ying looked down at Wan Ning, feeling the same way. It was like an invisible chain shattering in an instant, freeing her. That rush—hard to put into words but real as hell.

Suddenly, Wan Ning lifted her small face and licked Hu Yu Ying’s earlobe. The sensation shot through her like a jolt—tingly, almost paralyzing.

Hu Yu Ying recoiled a little, feeling her neck tense.

Wan Ning giggled, delighted by her own teasing. “Every part of you is so sensitive, sis.”

“Yeah, right, you’re just playing tricks,” Hu Yu Ying shot back, rolling her eyes.

Wan Ning plopped onto Hu Yu Ying’s lap, pulling out her phone to snap a picture. “Hey, do you think Qing Xue would drop everything and show up if she saw this?”

“Definitely,” Hu Yu Ying nodded, confident. “She loves chaos too much. I really hope we can keep this up forever.”

Dragon Bro had taught her plenty about life’s truths—he was the first to subtly nudge her toward change.

Qing Xue was the first to accept her transformation and stood by her side. Her optimism, cheerfulness, and smile slowly inspired Hu Yu Ying to become a better version of herself.

She still remembered when she decided to stop staying in the dorm—her feelings for Qing Xue were just as strong then. The heartbreak of parting, knowing they were only a short distance apart, felt painfully real.

Even now, just thinking about it made her heart flutter with unease.

Wan Ning glanced up with a playful smile. “It’s simple! Just get Qing Xue to call us ‘sisters,’ and we’ll never be apart!”

Hu Yu Ying pinched Wan Ning’s cheek, pretending to be annoyed. “Stupid girl… Qing Xue would never do that.”

Wan Ning, who came from a less-than-smooth family, had given up everything and was all she had left. But Qing Xue was different—her family loved her, and she had her own ties.

She knew well about Qing Xue’s feelings for Dragon Bro—she was the first to find out.

But after Hu Yu Ying and Dragon Bro got together for real, she could see Qing Xue’s genuine blessing and peace. Not like the girl in her arms, who called her ‘big brother’ on the surface but was secretly trying to cuff him with real handcuffs.

Hu Yu Ying felt her gaze and looked away shyly, pouting. “Fine, I was wrong. You can punish me however you like, sis…”

Wan Ning, instead of whining, got serious. “Qing Xue and I are different. Don’t be fooled—she always looks happy, but she’s got a fiery personality and is proud. She can take it and let go. She has her own little pride—her tiny “small arrogance,” I call it.”

“I know,” Hu Yu Ying admitted softly, giving a little puff of pride. “Honestly, I’d really want one more little sister.”

Wan Ning’s eyes sparkled as she hugged Hu Yu Ying’s tiny waist. “If I serve you as my sister, then that’s enough, right? But if you get one more sister… you better brace yourself—can your big brother even handle it?”

She leaned in close, her eyes twinkling with mischief, whispering, “So, sis, how have you been these past couple of days? Happy with big brother?”

Hu Yu Ying looked down at her, amused. Classic Wan Ning—she always had a little tails slipping out.

“Like a bull in love,” she said, “but after that night, Dragon Bro hasn’t come near me. We went at it for six hours straight. Now, I can’t even lift a finger without feeling like I’ve run a marathon—seriously, I got no stamina left.”

The physical toll was brutal—her legs wobbled just walking around.

Wan Ning nodded empathetically and gently traced Hu Yu Ying’s hair. “You’ve been exhausted, sis. Let me give you a massage.”

They walked back to the room, and as soon as they got there, Wan Ning peeled off her sister’s clothes and tucked her into bed.

Hu Yu Ying leaned her arms across her chest, suddenly feeling Wan Ning’s fingertips glide softly across her back.

“So, how is that, sis? Does the pressure feel okay?”

Wan Ning gently kneaded and teased Hu Yu Ying, making her squirm and laugh.

And that’s how the playful chaos of the day rolled on!

The consequence of staying up late reading novels is that one day, after pulling an all-nighter, you close your eyes and open them again, only to find yourself transmigrated into the role of a villainous male supporting character. Readers familiar with urban wish-fulfillment novels know that it is only through the relentless antics of the villainous male supporting character that the plot between the male and female leads can progress. As the villainous male supporting character, Long Aotian not only has to bully the female lead, harass the second female lead, and flirt with the third female lead, but he also has to go all out to antagonize the male lead. In the end, when his body is discovered, he is still clutching half a moldy fried dough stick in his hand. Fully aware of the plot, Long Aotian is determined to change his fate, starting with the female lead! In the beginning, the female lead lacks confidence: “Big brother, I hope I didn’t scare you?” In the middle, the female lead treads carefully: “Brother Long, please don’t hit me, okay?” Later on, the female lead becomes coquettishly clingy: “Aotian, it’s time to pay the ‘public grain’ tonight.” Long Aotian’s legs go weak, and he feels like crying: “I taught you to be thick-skinned, not shameless!”
