Chapter 115: Bai Yu: Dare to Bully My Wife?
“So, what trouble has our Young Master Lu run into now?”
It was Saturday, a lovely sunny day, and Peace Square was bustling early in the morning with families feeding pigeons, creating quite the lively scene. In one corner of the square, wearing sunglasses and a style that oscillated between trendy and slightly revealing, Shen Shuyun was seated on a bench next to Lu Liangting.
“Here, I got this for you.” She pulled out a candied hawthorn stick and handed it to Lu Liangting, then proceeded to unwrap one for herself.
“Thanks.” Lu Liangting accepted the candied hawthorn but just held onto it, lost in thought as she watched the children playing in the distance, her gaze slightly vacant.
“What’s wrong? You look all gloomy. Spill it, so I can feel better too!” Shen Shuyun smiled, took off her sunglasses, and suddenly placed her hands on Lu Liangting’s shoulders.
Lu Liangting jumped in surprise and turned to face Shen Shuyun, locking eyes with her.
The once-smiling Shen Shuyun now looked incredibly tense. She let go of his shoulders, dramatically tapped her own red lips, and fell silent, as if she had just realized something of utmost importance.
Seeing her expression, Lu Liangting instinctively thought something unclean had just arrived at the square. But it was broad daylight and the sun was shining bright!
Before he could ponder what was going on, Shen Shuyun finally spoke.
“Here, this place can help you regain hope…” Her eyes narrowed, and after saying that, her face returned to a gentle smile, as if the tension had never existed. “I put on a new lipstick today, it’s expensive. Care to try and see how it tastes?”
Lu Liangting was still staring at her lips and, upon hearing that, quickly averted his gaze. His already frustrated heart sank even deeper.
Of course, calling Shen Shuyun out was bound to lead to trouble. Just as he thought!
What kind of bizarre things were running through that head of hers?!
“Alright, enough teasing. Let’s get to the point. It’s not every day you invite me out. What’s the issue?”
Shen Shuyun laughed at Lu Liangting’s reaction, knowing full well his mind wasn’t on her but rather on the doctor. But it didn’t matter; the doctor didn’t like Lu Liangting, and she had plenty of opportunities.
This was a good development—he’d actually reached out to her and invited her out!
Taking a deep breath, Lu Liangting asked, “Have you heard of a group called the ‘Ghost Domain’?”
“Ghost Domain?”
“Yes.” Lu Liangting fished a business card from his pocket, the main colors being crimson and black, adorned with a chaotic, intricate design depicting countless black and red bl**d threads. At the bottom right corner on the back, neatly etched in red were the two characters for Ghost Domain.
Against the twisted and eerie style of the card, those two cleanly written words looked oddly out of place.
Holding the card up to the sunlight for a better look, Shen Shuyun furrowed her brows, seemingly spotting something. She handed her candied hawthorn to Lu Liangting, and lo and behold, pulled out a dagger from who knows where—her skirt didn’t even have pockets!
“Hey, what are you doing?” Lu Liangting looked bewildered.
Ignoring his confusion, she slashed her fingertip with the kn*fe, and before he could react, she squeezed her finger, letting a few drops of bl**d fall onto the card’s surface, then smeared the bl**d over it.
What followed next was a bizarre scene: the bl**d on the card began to spread like fine strands, consuming Shen Shuyun’s bl**d. As the bl**d threads proliferated, the design on the card morphed, gradually revealing an image in the area that had been shrouded in black.
In no time, the red overtook the card’s surface, transforming what once appeared grotesque into the vague outline of a building’s front—definitely reminiscent of a hospital.
Lu Liangting hastily grabbed the card, squinting as he examined it. “It looks like some hospital. Where on Earth did you get this card?”
Shen Shuyun, no longer giggling, looked at Lu Liangting with newfound seriousness. “You’re not kidding, right?”
Lu Liangting rubbed the smooth surface of the card, where all traces of bl**d had vanished. “I found it on a person. This person, or rather, the organization behind him, has a grudge against me.”
“A grudge?!” Shen Shuyun’s eyes brightened at these words.
Now, this was an excellent opportunity; if she could help Lu Liangting avenge his grievances, wouldn’t that make her the charming heroine in this story?
“Quick, give me all the details.”
He revealed that he had found this card from a woman he dealt with last night—not that he took advantage of her; that part didn’t matter. What mattered was he finally learned the name of the organization.
Thanks to Bai Yu, without her intervention, he wouldn’t have stood a chance against the other side or gained this invaluable intel.
Just as Lu Liangting was about to explain further, a youthful voice piped up.
“Master, what are you doing here?”
Turning around, he saw a girl with a side ponytail striding toward him.
Today she wasn’t in a maid outfit but instead wore a simple yet elegant black dress, and yes, she still had on the black stockings that Lu Liangting adored.
The girl was named Zhizi, the younger sister among the maid sisters in his household.
Zhizi rarely showed any expression, often sporting an icy face that made it hard for anything to stir her emotions.
Notably, it was Zhizi who had found this card during her search last night.
“Come sit,” Lu Liangting nodded.
He was already on a bench, head low. He hadn’t even looked up when a pair of slim legs, wrapped in black silk, entered his line of sight.
Looking up, he found Zhizi’s eyes locked onto his.
“Master, you said you would let me know first if something was up.” Her gaze now seemed almost dangerous, sending shivers down Lu Liangting’s spine.
“I…”
“Master, I think I understand you better than she does.” Zhizi positioned her high-heeled foot on the space between Lu Liangting’s legs, leaning towards him.
“Don’t kid yourself. The first person Lu Liangting thinks of when he’s in trouble is me, not you. Isn’t that proof enough?” Shen Shuyun caught on quickly, inching her way closer to Lu Liangting until they were nearly touching.
“Are you asking for trouble?”
“Just you try me!”
“Fine, I will!”
Suddenly, both girls whipped out knives—one a small dagger, the other an oddly shaped pair of scissors that screamed danger.
In Lu Liangting’s mind, these two girls had their quirks, but overall they were sweet and caring. Yet when they were together, they transformed into entirely different people.
It was hard to tell whether these kn*fe-wielding versions were their real selves or if the caring, slightly possessive girls were more genuine.
Often, Lu Liangting thought those two were more “masculine” than he was, especially during battles.
Like that one time in Ping Shan Village—with their wild, reckless attacks, raucous laughter, and sheer brutality—it was hard to see any trace of femininity in their ferocity. He felt he paled in comparison.
“Alright, Zhizi, sit down. We don’t need to escalate this,” Lu Liangting sighed, clearly in no mood to mediate their rivalry. His brain was already buzzing with thoughts of the Ghost Domain.
“Humph!” Zhizi huffed, turning to sit on his other side. Her long dress swayed with a faint floral scent.
She leaned in close enough to almost touch Lu Liangting, stopping short of looping her arm through his but giving her scissors a dramatic slap onto her thigh.
On the other side, Shen Shuyun mirrored the gesture, her gaze simmering with intensity.
Passersby stared with a mix of envy and disdain at the sight of Lu Liangting, flanked by not one, but two gorgeous girls—each encroaching on his space, causing female onlookers to mutter curses at the “player” and male onlookers to look on with jealousy.
“Why does he need to have both of them clinging to him?”
Curses were thrown silently, thinking Lu Liangting would end up without either.
Little did they know that far from it, he was the one who’d ultimately draw all the girls to him.
Deep in thought, Lu Liangting decided it was best to adjust some distance between the two girls and himself. He didn’t want to mislead them into thinking things were more than they were. He began to explain about his sister’s issue—a scar deep within him—and the matters concerning the Ghost Domain.
In short, his sister had been killed by an evil spirit nurtured by the Ghost Domain, and her spirit was still missing. For years he’d chased the Ghost Domain’s whereabouts, but alas, they were elusive and powerful, and he’d found no substantial leads.
Until last night, when he encountered a member of the Ghost Domain.
Upon hearing that Lu Liangting had been with the doctor last night, Shen Shuyun and Zhizi exchanged a glance.
“Let’s start by finding out where that hospital from the card is,” Shen Shuyun shifted the conversation.
After searching the internet tirelessly, they pinpointed a location near Tianchang City.
“Tianchang City, Tianyang Fourth Hospital?”
Opening a picture of the hospital’s front door, they confirmed it matched exactly with the card’s previous image.
However, after some digging, they learned this hospital had been abandoned for at least a decade.
Given that the organization wouldn’t use an active hospital as a base, it made sense.
“Is this hospital really their lair?” Zhizi asked suddenly.
“Not sure, but we’ll find out. If you’re scared, you don’t have to come,” Shen Shuyun retorted with a smirk, the now-normal card resting between her fingers, a terrible premonition creeping in.
Her unease stemmed not just from the organization, but somewhere else entirely.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that the doctor’s connection to Lu Liangting was too coincidental—she figured it was because Zhao Mingyue and Lu Liangting were the leading characters; the doctor always seemed to be around Zhao Mingyue, which explained her frequent encounters with Lu Liangting.
But that didn’t mean it was a good thing.
“Last time I sought help from the doctor in Eternal Life Village was a wild ride; fingers crossed we won’t run into any mishaps this time.”
“It’s just in a small county over sixty kilometers away. Surely, we won’t run into them again,” Shen Shuyun reassured herself, glancing over at Lu Liangting, hoping that his protagonist aura wouldn’t activate again—she just couldn’t handle it.
