Chapter 330: Together Forever!
In a little room at the end of the passage, Zhao Mingyue turned on her phone’s light and looked around. The entire room contained only a stone bed, but unfortunately, it was empty—only the embryo body had been taken away by the Evil God.
“Looks like it’s a no-go. No wonder those two haven’t come to bother you all this time; they probably don’t even plan to keep that body,” she mused.
“For these two, it looks like they decided to gamble. If the embryo gets killed, they’ll deal with it, or perhaps it’ll be eaten by the younger sister. If it survives, they’d just share the negative energies with you, but it wouldn’t be much—you wouldn’t be able to absorb much anyway.”
The Dragon Lady stroked her chin, glancing at the little room. She bent down and picked something up off the floor—a jade pendant glowing with a green light, something swirling within.
“Vengeful Spirit Glaze—so much stuff!”
“This contains at least the power of a Red-Clothed Spirit. If a living person carries it, it’ll weaken their vitality and eventually lead to constant illness. But there are benefits too: not only can it protect against Evil Ghosts, but it also strengthens the soul.”
“The most important thing is that it helps keep the soul independent after d*ath, meaning you won’t turn into an Evil Ghost or a mindless wandering spirit. It’s like getting a new lease on life after you d*e. Plus, the negative effects of being an Evil Ghost will also be reduced.”
“This thing is incredibly hard to make because the conditions are super strict. Typically, one Vengeful Spirit Glaze is only enough for one person. It looks like these two were really in a hurry; they even left this behind without picking it up!”
Hearing this, Zhao Mingyue came over and held the green pendant in her palm, feeling a strange coolness that was undeniably comforting. “This is really nice. But why do the Evil Gods want it? To use it on the embryo body? That body can’t d*e anyway!”
“This is quite essential for the Evil Gods’ embryo. The most crucial point is that it slows down aging.” The Dragon Lady walked over and casually draped an arm over Bai Yu’s shoulder. “For example, without this, Bai Yu’s body would still grow up—aging, just at a slower rate than a living person.”
“If she doesn’t use this, Bai Yu might look like she’s fifteen or sixteen in a decade, only aging three years. But with it, she’d maybe only gain a year. After all, Bai Yu isn’t the original owner of that body; no matter how powerful she is, she can’t withstand the relentless march of time.”
“My suggestion? You keep it for yourself—don’t give it to Bai Yu.”
“Why not?” Zhao Mingyue asked, puzzled, clutching the pendant tightly.
“Because your current constitution can handle this without much side effect, plus it’ll slow down your aging. Just imagine—when you’re in your twenties, a mature woman, while Bai Yu’s body is still just in her teens, looking like your little sister.”
“When you grow up even more, she might even look like your daughter! Walking down the street, people will look at you like you’re mother and daughter. And when you two go shopping, the staff will automatically assume you’re a mother and daughter duo!” The Dragon Lady’s smile turned downright sinister, sending chills down Zhao Mingyue’s spine.
Zhao Mingyue quickly shoved the pendant into her pocket, giving Bai Yu a goofy smile.
Bai Yu pretended not to notice, hugging Zhao Mingyue from behind and leaning against her.
Opening her eyes, Bai Yu carefully extended her curse power combined with Zhao Mingyue’s strength, sensing the surroundings. With this, she’d definitely pick up on the Ghost Gate.
After scanning, she only detected the faintest trace of the Evil God’s presence within the little room, extremely weak—if she hadn’t used Zhao Mingyue’s power, she probably wouldn’t have sensed anything.
“What did you find?”
“Let’s go; there’s nothing here.” Bai Yu turned and walked outside. “The temple doesn’t have a Ghost Gate. Let’s check the altar. Those two should have come back about a week ago, but they only took a quick look before leaving—something must have spooked them.”
“Nightmare?”
“That must be her. The only one who could scare those two off is Nightmare. It seems she didn’t catch them.”
The Dragon Lady almost burst out laughing. “We should thank ourselves; without our lesson, she’d probably still be too cocky and got caught by Nightmare instead.”
Evil Gods are usually full of themselves, just like those two—knowing they couldn’t win, they still tried their luck against Bai Yu and got walloped. This time, they learned their lesson and ran at the first sign of trouble. Seriously, who needs reputation when survival is on the line?
It’s better to gather intel first before making a move. If a sneak attack won’t succeed, just beat it out of there.
Returning to the temple, it was empty—nothing but some long-rotten offerings nobody bothered to take care of. This was truly the decaying shell, devoid of any soul.
Since that day they claimed to be offerings, their souls had been sucked away by the Evil God.
And most of these offerings were stitched-together products—bodies of many children fused together.
Back in Eternal Life Village, the stench of the Evil God was completely gone. This was Bai Yu’s first time seeing the whole village, and honestly, it was quite a nice view. If it weren’t for all this drama, it would have been a lovely place to live.
Zhao Mingyue and the Dragon Lady could’ve had a future just like everyone else.
The Dragon Lady wanted to say something; she was actually wishing to go home and take a look, but suddenly, Bai Yu grabbed her wrist.
“Bai Yu?”
She noticed Bai Yu was staring in one direction, as if searching for something. After a good ten seconds, Bai Yu released her hold.
“What’s up?”
“Our guess was spot on. Your shadow side is right here, roughly that direction.”
Bai Yu pointed ahead. The Dragon Lady frowned; if they followed where she was pointing, they’d end up at the house she and Zhao Mingyue used to live in.
“She sensed your return. Even if we don’t look for her, she’ll come looking for us.”
Bai Yu’s tone was devoid of emotion. She wondered if the Dragon Lady’s shadow would come out of the Ghost Gate and zero in on Zhao Mingyue?
After all, she was the Dragon Lady’s other half, and long ago, she had mentioned wanting to find her sister.
What worried her was that this character might be as extreme as the old Dragon Lady.
Choosing to eliminate Zhao Mingyue and be with her forever.
