Chapter 11: Gone Broke, Uh Oh
Mo Rabbit had barely stepped out of the office when a crew of current Chief Guardians stormed in, each one a top-tier Ability User.
Chief Guardians were like the spiritual pillars of the Guardian organization; they’re kind of like leadership-warriors, both symbolically and in terms of power. Now, their quick return from the Guardian base indicates that this intrusion is no small matter.
Or rather, they should be more concerned about the external threat.
Seeing Commander standing quietly in thought, they rushed forward to inquire.
“Commander, we just received the latest intel—the intruder has been here. Is it true?”
“Hmm, she came over and met me earlier. I learned quite a bit from her. We’ll discuss it later in the meeting. It might get complicated, so everyone brace yourselves.”
The Commander felt it might be much more tangled than it seemed.
Perhaps what the Announcer said was all true, but could things really go smoothly?
Whatever the case, being cautious never hurt anyone.
Do they handle their own affairs?
Ha! As if!
Once you enter this world, you play by its rules.
If that dangerous person wreaks havoc here, Guardians can’t afford to sit idly—especially since these people claim their strength could bring the threat back.
So there’s no sitting back for the Guardians either.
Hopefully, without any disturbances, they might let things slide on the other side.
But if things escalate, forgetting it all is impossible.
…
Mo Rabbit slipped away from Flying Wing Academy and dodged trouble. Hiding might have saved her.
She couldn’t fight head-on, so running was best.
“Now, plenty of time! Where to? Can’t go back to the academy. Let’s check on the so-called ‘Zero-Style Nightfall.’ How different are they from the others?”
Though the archives held no info on the “Zero-Style” members, finding them wasn’t too tricky. It’s not like Kung Yu Bai and her Existence Interference.
A simple trail left behind would make it a breeze for Mo Rabbit.
No biggie.
…
In the bustling Rising Sun Theatre.
Night Star Lan was still surfing the internet.
Loli Sky posted a collective dance video a few years ago with an account named “Nightfall.” Quite absurdly amusing.
Does the Loli really adore the ‘Night’ theme?
Seems pretty obsessed.
But Night Star Lan enjoyed it too—it’s her last name after all.
“Uh-huh, maybe I should get out… Otherwise, I might surf my brain dry.”
Online browsing should be limited.
Putting the phone down now and then isn’t bad.
Now, it’s just her and Guqiu in the theatre.
Guqiu—a clueless pigeon obsessed with French fries.
Chatting with Guqiu or the pumpkin ghost might be better.
At least you can hug the ghost.
What else does Guqiu do besides feed fries?
You can’t pluck feathers for fun.
Sadly, Eyperl is out somewhere, presumably causing mischief.
One hopes she doesn’t d*e outside.
Getting resurrected is such a hassle.
“I’ve made up my mind! Time to explore!”
Sure, wandering around recklessly without understanding the area is risky.
But staying put in the theatre is boring too.
No other group members to chat with means outdoor walking is the only option.
It’s like taking a breather.
Still, for safety, going alone seems best.
Night Lan stayed inside for some online surfing, returning to normal work and waiting for group members.
Night Star, on the other hand, ventured out. Observing the new world while not neglecting amusement.
She truly is a genius!
Taking immediate action—soon she was ready, changing into street clothes at the theatre, leaving confidently.
Switching scenes—
Night Star appeared on a bustling street.
Very lively here.
Her attire today was very cute—no makeup necessary, her looks and outfit grabbed full attention quickly.
Imagine a cute girl with silver hair and red eyes walking. Passing by without looking twice would be a waste.
“Huh.”
Noticing the stares, she recoiled, hiding in a corner.
Always struggled with many people’s gazes.
Even in a new world, her charm drew eyes.
Quickly, she used Existence Interference, blending into common folk, finally feeling part of the crowd.
She walked back onto the street, her stride light and carefree, ignoring passerby’s glances.
This city was completely alien.
Walking wasn’t about meeting needs; it was random, casual.
Stopping occasionally to watch a stall sale, then just staring off into space.
Totally spontaneous.
“Feeling peckish…”
A while later.
With her “cute tricks,” Night Star held a crepe, eating small bites, feeling satisfied.
Who knew her day would come to beg for food with cuteness?
In short, she was standing there dumbfounded at the deserted crepe stand with longing eyes.
A good-hearted stand owner took pity and gave her a crepe—an embarrassed moment indeed.
Night Star had no idea why she did something so shameless.
But she had no choice.
Money from her previous world couldn’t be used here. Even if it could, extracting it was impossible.
Her entire stash was on her phone, which has no link here.
Besides, getting money here through illegal means wasn’t an option.
Now, she’s just a broke Loli.
Changing location is definitely troublesome.
Wonder how long it will take to fix matters with the Group Leader.
Maybe it’ll involve eating dirt for a while.
“Hmm… Should we set up a performance on the streets with the Rising Sun Theatre? Seems less humiliating to earn money via shows…”
