Chapter 31: A Wake-Up Call for the Dreamer
Night Sky and the gang returned to the seaside villa and quickly sent a message to Night Star Lan.
A little while later…
Night Star Lan arrived from the Rising Sun Theater Group, curiosity etched across her face.
“What’s up?”
Night Sky was sprawled on the couch, looking as lazy as a cat napping in the sun.
“The group leader was too fast for his own good, but we managed to deal with his time-space ability. It’s essentially gone now; he shouldn’t be able to zip around anymore.”
“Really?!”
Night Star Lan had always found the group leader’s time-space ability a major headache.
In its initial state, the time power was manageable — it wasn’t enough to jump between worlds. But throw in Kuro’s enhancement, and it became completely outrageous.
To catch the group leader, they had to tackle the time-space issue first.
And honestly, Night Star Lan was the only one from the group who could pull that off.
Of course, that was only the ideal scenario.
She could do it, but it required her to either enter Star Eclipse status or boost her psychic powers to A-rank; only then could she use a wish to interfere with the group leader, who was holding Kuro.
But that was her trump card! Entering that state meant she could solve everything — time-space powers were nothing then!
If it weren’t such a risky approach, Night Star Lan would have sprung into action ages ago.
Now that Night Sky and the crew had resolved the group leader’s pesky time-space ability, it was excellent news for Night Star Lan.
When they found him next, he wouldn’t be able to run off at the drop of a hat!
Night Star Lan showed her gratitude with a smile.
“Thanks, Night Sky! You’ve been a huge help! To repay you, I can grant you one wish!”
Hearing that, Night Sky fell into thought and didn’t refuse the offer.
Wishes were indeed tantalizing. Smart people never turn those down.
Night Sky pondered on how to phrase her wish.
“Well then… How about the coordinates to your world? That way, I can pop over for a visit when I’m free! It may not be a traditional otherworld, but I’m excited to explore!”
Night Star Lan blinked in confusion, tilting her head.
“Is it really that simple? I could even go bolder! It’s totally doable!”
The thing was, world coordinates were a piece of cake for her. She just had to have a thought, and she could slice open a time-space tunnel to Night Sky’s world — and it wouldn’t even eat up much of her psychic power!
Plus, Night Star Lan planned to pop back to her original world anyway to swing by for visits and lead the Rising Sun Theater Group in performances over there.
So, she wouldn’t need to worry about the travel arrangements at all.
Night Sky narrowed her eyes, deep in thought.
“Why not just give me a gift from your world then? I wouldn’t mind having a seventh member for the Zero-Style Nightfall.”
As soon as those words left her lips, Night Star Lan immediately shot that down.
“Absolutely not! That’s pushing it too much! That wish cannot be granted! Think of another!”
Night Sky pouted in boredom.
“Well then, that’s it! I don’t have any strange desires; I’ve got nearly everything I need materially. Mentally, it’s just so I can slack off and hang out with little lolis. If I let someone else take the wish, who knows what bizarre things they could come up with!”
In plain terms, Night Sky was the top person in this world.
She had zero needs when it came to wealth or status, just like Night Star Lan, who was a loli with no grand ambitions and was content to live off snacks.
Night Star Lan sighed a little, feeling a tad deflated.
“Alright then, I’ll set you up with a door that lets you casually travel between both worlds. If you feel like visiting, you can just go!”
Night Sky brightened up with a big smile.
“Yay~ Since your world is the future, there must be tons of unknown anime! I’ve almost watched all the anime in my world; the updates are painfully slow, and most of them are pretty lackluster. I’ve been itching to binge-watch a bunch of good shows!”
Night Sky was originally a shut-in who loved watching anime, spending her idle time lounging at home, devouring shows like a pro couch potato.
With more slacking time, came more anime-watching time.
The current anime offerings couldn’t satisfy her boredom anymore.
Therefore, reeling in the anime from Night Star Lan’s world was pretty much a no-brainer!
Night Star Lan beamed back with an adorable smile.
“Then we’ll binge together! You’re always welcome to crash at my place!”
A little while later, Night Star Lan returned to the Rising Sun Theater and shared the news about the group leader’s lost time-space abilities with the other members.
Upon hearing this, Mo Rabbit nodded thoughtfully.
“Well then, his flexibility is significantly reduced, but Kuro’s power is still intact, so our strength is still no match for an uncooperative group leader.”
Night Star Lan struck a cool pose.
“Whatever, I’ll handle it.”
Everyone burst out laughing.
Mo Rabbit just shook her head.
“What’s this? Planning to slack off and not hang around the theater now?”
Night Star Lan scoffed.
“Hmph! The most troublesome time-space power is out of the way. Instead of dragging it out, it’s better to solve this quickly while Kuro’s consciousness hasn’t fully awakened. I wouldn’t dream of intentionally slacking off!”
The group leader wasn’t under Kuro’s control right now, just somewhat influenced by obsession and remembering quite a bit.
Given that, Night Star Lan just needed to find a way to lure the group leader into making a wish.
Just like when they dealt with the Ballad Conductor last time.
She could pretend to support all the group leader’s decisions and get him to express his deepest desires, needing the audience’s help.
Then the Wish Princess could declare it a wish and grant it!
As for the price? It could be directly set as the Source of Kuro.
With that, they could separate Kuro from the group leader in a jiffy!
This method was definitely safer than brute-forcing their way through with Star Eclipse.
Although, they would still have to deal with Kuro and Bai not being able to coexist in the same time-space later, but that was a problem to tackle slowly.
Next, they just needed to find the group leader’s whereabouts again.
Time slowly ticked by.
Night Star Lan didn’t let the theater members go out searching for the group leader.
If he appeared in the streets, the world’s Guardians would surely notice.
Once the Guardians caught wind of the group leader’s presence, they’d notify Night Sky.
All Night Star Lan had to do was sit back and wait for Night Sky to give her the heads up.
Yet, a day passed.
The group leader seemed to have evaporated into thin air; they couldn’t catch a whiff of him anywhere.
Remember, not long ago, the group leader could change locations and perform almost nonstop! The Guardians would quickly spot him!
Now, with the group leader gone from the radar, it felt all too strange.
At this moment, Night Star Lan, stuck in Night Sky’s seaside villa, was deep in thought, trying to figure out what the group leader could be planning.
Without his time-space abilities, what could the group leader be thinking?
Suddenly, Night Sky’s dejected voice broke in.
“Star Lan, do you think… maybe at the moment we erased the group leader’s time-power, he exploited that power to leave this world?”
“Shock and awe!”
