I Became a Witch in a World Full of Urban Legends – Chapter 100

Chapter 63: Mei Zi Heng Gong Yu

A little past three in the afternoon.

After waiting for almost two days, Du Sixian finally received a notification from An Qing and hurried to the Huacheng Folk Culture Research Management Bureau.

From afar, before she had the chance to enter the main gate, standing at the narrow alley in front of the Huacheng Folk Culture Research Management Bureau, Du Sixian was blocked by a truck.

It was a delivery truck, with the “All Pass Delivery” logo printed on the side—quite common.

When Du Sixian arrived, the truck’s cargo door was wide open, and several muscular men dressed in black sunglasses were taking things out of the cargo hold.

An Qing had briefly introduced these muscular men to Du Sixian; they were members of the Siye Society’s Special Action Team, mostly ordinary people who had undergone special training, with some possessing basic skills in spirit energy utilization.

The members of the Special Action Team lifted three silver metal-cased code boxes from the truck, with each pair escorting one box toward the Huacheng Folk Culture Research Management Bureau.

Du Sixian curiously observed them for a moment before squeezing through the gap between the alley and the truck.

As she passed by those muscular men, she instinctively lowered her head but heard one of them chuckle and congratulate her, “Congratulations!”

Du Sixian was taken aback, glanced at the muscular man whose muscles even bulged on his face, felt a bit intimidated, and awkwardly thanked him before continuing on.

Thinking about soon gaining the “superpower” to fight urban legends, her steps became lighter.

Before this, aside from making videos, her only strong suit was RPG games. Now she could advance to battling urban legends; it was hard not to feel excited.

The entrance of the repurposed office building resembled a large mouth swallowing Du Sixian’s figure. Following her memory, she found the door to An Qing’s office and gently knocked.

“Knock, knock, knock—!”

“Come in!”

Hearing An Qing’s voice, Du Sixian pushed the door open and, upon stabilizing her focus and taking in the scene in the office, she was momentarily stunned.

The bright afternoon sunlight, mixed with the fragrance of flowers and plants from the courtyard, cast down upon An Qing. On her desk, there were three silver code boxes, adorned with faint mourning owl patterns, just like the ones she had seen earlier.

“This…” Du Sixian’s lips parted in astonishment, realizing why that muscular man had congratulated her earlier!

“They have a special passage,” An Qing said with a smile, as if guessing Du Sixian’s confusion, pointing at the code boxes on the table. “These are the spirit pattern materials prepared for you. Choose one!”

Choose one? Du Sixian examined the code boxes closely. The three boxes appeared identical, and not knowing how to choose, she could only cast a pleading gaze at An Qing for help.

“It seems none of these three options particularly match your spirit energy fluctuations, which is a shame,” An Qing sighed and explained. “Some individuals with spirit energy potential may have an affinity for certain kinds of urban legends due to variations in their spirit energy fluctuations.”

“If that’s the case, you should feel a special sense about one of the boxes. How to put it? It’s like a sense of destiny!”

“Then…” Du Sixian glanced at the code boxes and said, “Not having a reaction doesn’t mean that the cores of these urban legends are unsuitable for me, right?”

“Of course not.” An Qing smiled and shook her head. “In fact, most people won’t have a reaction. What just happened was merely a necessary process.”

“Don’t worry. Even if it’s not the most suitable at the start, there will always be ways to gradually fill in the gaps. Just like many legends have misconceptions, and the information about the urban legends overlaps, once certain conditions are met, the spirit patterns can also be supplemented and changed.”

“Oh, oh.” Du Sixian nodded, somewhat understanding.

As long as there are no downsides, right? Whether it’s locked health or locked heads, as long as it can take down enemies, it’s a good attachment!

“Bam, bam!” Just as Du Sixian was lost in thought, An Qing suddenly slapped the code box on the desk, interrupting her train of thought.

“Scorpion Lion…” An Qing paused for a few seconds, then continued, “The spirit pattern ability is likely related to flying and also grants toxic abilities after use.”

“This one is a Kappa; the spirit pattern ability relates to water control.”

“And then there’s this one,” An Qing tapped the last box, “Mei Zi Heng Gong Yu…”

“What’s the effect?”

“Tasty.” An Qing said seriously.

Du Sixian, “???”

“I don’t know anything else; no one has tried this kind of spirit pattern according to the records. You’ll be the first.”

Du Sixian, “…” Does that make me a lab rat? Only a fool would choose this!

In the end, Du Sixian chose Mei Zi Heng Gong Yu as her spirit pattern. Though the abilities it might confer were unknown, compared to the Scorpion Lion making her hair grow uncontrollably or the Kappa causing baldness, it was much more acceptable to her.

At worst, it would simply enhance her physique!

Du Sixian felt a bit exhausted, like being given a choice of the starter Pokémon with options being a disabled Magikarp, an ugly Magikarp, and a normal Magikarp…

After Du Sixian made her decision, an uneasy and strange smile appeared on An Qing’s face. “Since you’ve made your choice, don’t hesitate! Take off your clothes!”

She eagerly rubbed her hands, full of anticipation, saying, “Before advancement, let’s see if your development is normal…”

Only novice spirit energy users would believe the nonsense of “important rituals must be done completely n*ked,” so…

Du Sixian believed it, blushing, as she gradually peeled off her outer clothes.

The bright sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the slender figure of the girl.

She tossed her outerwear onto the coat rack, took off her T-shirt, revealing a smooth back and the long straps crossing her fair skin, tied with a light pink bow.

The wool mini skirt slipped down to the floor, and her long legs in black stockings were lifted, slowly taken off, revealing a flash of whiteness.

Just as she was removing her socks and reaching to untie the straps, the curtains were suddenly drawn up by An Qing…

An Qing wasn’t a devil; she could at most be considered a cold-blooded zombie.

Thus, she didn’t do anything strange to Du Sixian, only performing a normal examination of her body.

Though, it wasn’t really necessary.

It seemed like a thick herbal fragrance floated in the room designed as a hospital ward.

An Qing stood in front of a large cauldron, focusing intently on the changes in the medicinal liquid inside. The dark brown liquid was boiling, revealing hints of gold.

Like gold powder floating in a murky pond.

When the golden hue became more pronounced, An Qing decisively grabbed the red bone fish on the table, squeezing it forcefully in her slender fingers, crushing it into her palm.

As the powder from the core of the Mei Zi Heng Gong Yu fell, the flames extinguished, and the liquid in the cauldron rose, outlining complex contours in the air.

After a dazzling flash of light, it began to shrink violently, quickly transforming into a palm-sized swimming fish.

Every scale on it seemed vividly crafted from gold, without any flaws. Light glistened on its mirror-like body, like ripples spreading across the water’s surface.

Under An Qing’s guidance with spirit energy, the fish swam in midair, directly colliding with Du Sixian’s forehead.

A surging life force surged into her body like a tide. She wanted to roar, but her consciousness quickly dulled.

Having accepted the spirit pattern of Mei Zi Heng Gong Yu, she truly felt as if she had transformed into a fish.

Swimming joyfully in the water, forgetting all worries and troubles, forgetting everything.

As for who Du Sixian was…

Who cares!? As long as she was happy!

That night.

Lu Yibei had a strange dream, or rather, it wasn’t his first time dreaming about Du Sixian.

But to put it strictly, it was indeed quite strange. He dreamt of Du Sixian constantly blowing bubbles, like a silly goldfish, which was inexplicably bizarre.

“Why not just act like a fish?! Try being a person? Be normal!”

Lu Yibei cursed loudly, woke up from the dream, sat on the bed, full of complaints without knowing who to vent to.

d*mn Du Sixian, what kind of trick is she up to again?

Meanwhile, at the Siye Society, Du Sixian gradually detached from the abnormal state and woke up…
